I swore off alcohol after a crazy, violent night 50 or 60 times.
I'd hardly say "crisis averted" if physical violence is what booze unleashed in them.

Disagreed. I love alcohol, and going out to a bar or somebody's house for drinks. There's nothing wrong with going out, drinking, and having a good time with friends. Provided you're not a ****** to begin with and don't let it control you, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

I don't know about other people but I always know what I'm doing when I'm drunk, I have no problem controlling myself. I've done and said stupid things when I'm drunk, but I've never come anywhere close to crossing the line and hit anyone, drove drunk, etc. It's a personal thing, and I have never accepted the excuse that "the alcohol made me do it." The person likely had problems to begin with.
