Sega Alien: Isolation

I do like that the AI does seem to be attuned to real world scenarios by having them check hiding places in areas you obviously are.

Yep it's pretty smart. Just when you think you have it's pattern all worked out it suprises you by coming at you from another direction.

I almost feel like I am in love with this game. I have gotten every achievement except for the one where you have get killed by the alien 100 times. I've only died nine times in all, and that's after beating the game twice.

I've never really understood acheivements for basically sucking.

Hey go jump in the middle of the road, and i'll give you 50 gamerscore!!!

Some achievements are just dumb. It's like they have to reach a certain number of achievs, but ran out of ideas for them.

I just finished this game a few hours ago, it took around 40 hours of total gameplay according to Steam on hard mode, and that includes a lot of deaths :woot:
This is no doubt the most terrifying game I have ever played.

So I just got this and though "**** it, YOLO. Let's Hard mode this." On a scale of 1-10 how boned am I?

:csad: times a thousand. Depending on your level of patients, the game MIGHT turn you off.

I'm gettin this in a week or 2. Not playing on hard straight off as it might put me off finishing it.

I went with hard mode directly and it did not put me off it at all. I have no idea how it differs to the other modes though. But honestly, as long as you have patience and not running around like a lunatic you will be fine.

Were there many choke points where you got stuck for a while? I have a friend coming to stay and want to finish it before he leaves. Plus he hardly games so when he controls it I think it'll need to be on a lower setting.

I would say at the top of my head there were 2 or 3 places where I died many times. One of them was because I had been careless and wasted a lot of ammo and weapons/distractions.

I have tons of patience and love to stealth games, even when it's not called for and I could easily wipe out everything in a half mile radius. I've spent weeks playing the Metal Gear games so I can get through it without killing anyone and not being seen. Hell, I stealth stuff in FO3 and New Vegas when I can shoot it with a mini nuke a mile away.

So already found something that annoys me. The crouch button for Fallout 3 (which I've played several hundred hours) is the run button here. This may be a problem leading to mucho deaths down the line. "Oh crap! Crouch walk! *WOOSH* DAMMIT!"

Tried this out last night. This is the most tense experience I've ever had with a video game. Dead Space didn't come close to this. I like it so far, but I can't play this for long stretches. My nerves were frazzled after just a couple hours last night.

Is it normal to want to chase after the Alien with a hammer?

Tell me about it. There were times were I had to take a break cuz my heart was racing and I was too scared to play anymore.

Sure, if you're suicidal :o

Well I figured out I could melee and then the alien walked by. It just seemed like a natural progression. I'd love it if it was programmed that if you did a successful melee on the alien that it'd knock it out.

Ha.

I fired ten rounds into the damn thing once. Didn't even slow it down.

Yeah, the gun and shotgun are completely useless against that thing.

It's suicide to try to attack at all so I figure that the ultimate suicide attack on it should get a bonus. Maybe a "What the **** were you thinking?" achievement or something. :D
