Alien R-Rated Animated Series Reportedly in Development

Earlier this month, reports claimed multiple live-action television adaptations of the Alienfranchise may be in development. Now, a new report says an animated series based on the iconic sci-fi horror film series may be in the works.

An animated adaptation of the popular 2014 survival horror game Alien: Isolation is reportedly in development for a seven-episode miniseries geared for mature audiences, aiming for a hard R-rating. The series will be produced by Axis Animation, which handled the visual effects for the video game. It may air on the official Alien website.

Not going to lie, I would love this

Television is probably the best place for this franchise. Give it an Expanse size budget, introduce more alien species, create some quality characters, create some intriguing politics and scheming with Weyland and Yutani, maybe some space marines, and just have fun.

Certainly gives them a lot of room for creativity. I just hope they don't get too creative with the animation style.

R-rated animation? Aliens franchise? Nice!

Alright, you've got my curiosity.

I hope they really explore the possibilities of animation. In addition to cramped and dark spaceships, I also want to see sweeping vistas of ruined planets, like the Taarna scenes from Heavy Metal.

Not a fan of FPS and I'm bad at them but maybe I will try it to be prepared for this show, I've heard good things about this game.
Anyways, glad to see something new is made in the Alien franchise.

Alien Isolation is first person survival horror and often is more about hiding and running rather than attacking.

They better get this right and in this kind of format they definitely have a lot of room for creativity. Also, I've seen enough footage of Alien Isolation on YouTube to know that would be a great direction for this franchise to go in, especially if they focus hard on the survival horror aspect.

Isolation was a great game too. It took a different route to the run and gun of most previous Alien games.

I wonder if they could get Andrea Deck back to play Ripley?

This might be what the property needs.

We have to acknowledge what got us into this mess in the first place. The prequel films are garbage. Fans generally do not like them and are revolted by all the new mythology elements. They have to move on from that garbage.

They were disappointing, yes. Are you saying they should move on by doing this series or that it's the wrong move?

better make a tv show as let make Ridley Scott another ****ty prequel movie

I’ll tell you that whatever misfire Ridley Scott might’ve made, it’ll be still 10 times more interesting and visually stunning than whatever this bland series will be.

Lol fans have hated 85% of the franchise, so let’s not lynch Ridley Scott as the harbinger of all evil.

Man would I love a Colonial Marines show. I don't even care if its animated because that only allows them to do more with it, especially if they go for a true anime style show.

Not that it's the wrong move but that they are in this place for having to do a TV show instead because the films are no longer viable because the films were awful. And the prequel movies which they wanted to make 3-5 films out of were bad and no one liked them or the new mythology aspects they introduced.

They should move on and pivot from what the prequels were trying to do because they were bad.

Oh yes. Makes sense.

Except that Prometheus actually made a quite a bit of money comparative to what the franchise usually turns out. Covenant underperformed, but wasn’t an outright bomb (critically or commercially), certainly not to the point where a major studio would kill a 40 year old film franchise that has the likes of Blomkamp, Weaver and even Cameron eager to return.

I’d look more to the Disney/Fox merger as to why the series is moving mediums. Disney is not going to spend 100 million plus on a high end horror franchise.
