Literally only place online you're likely to find someone clamouring for someone to 'Halloween Ends this business.'
Is it, though? Covenant in particular went in some weird directions but there's nothing in it that really messes up the overall continuity like some other franchises (X-Men, Terminator).
Yeah the AVP movies are the only ones that throw off continuity if they counted but they don't.

Can you explain? Because nothing has been confirmed about any future films and if they'd even include Ripley at all. Neil Blomkamp's Alien movie almost retconned Alien 3 and Resurrection but that was the closest the franchise has come to that.Yes it is, especially if they seek to connect another prequel to the original Alien or possibly retcon Alien 3. Alien 3 literally kills off Ripley and all the characters we care about, and the franchise still couldn't let her go!
...mother of god this is brilliant. You hire me on to this property tomorrow, I am making a stand alone movie with something like colonial marines are sent on a mission to extract a science team for the company, and it turns out it was an Island of Dr Moreau type situation where the Aliens have hatched out of loads of different creatures and we see them fighting all sorts of unique creatures based on the toy line. That's what I would do and want to see at this point
I'll agree that the Hadley's Hope scenes in the beginning aren't necessary. I still enjoy them because it's fun to see the derelict ship again and a pre-traumatized Newt but ultimately those scenes only exist to reiterate how f***ed those people are about to be.I think there's pros and cons with the director's cut of Aliens. The biggest pro as mentioned is I think the scene where Ripley learns the fate of her daughter is really strong and should have been in the final film as it really ties into the motherhood theme of the film. However I have some minor issues with it, such as I think it's a slight detriment to the film that they show Hadley's Hope before communication is lost. I think it's more effective with our group of characters getting there and we see this place for the first time together with the characters. I don't think you need those minutes and especially the scene where Newt's family goes to the Derelict. It doesn't add anything to the movie in my opinion other than showing us what we already know and adding some run time.

Yeah the Alien Director's Cut doesn't take away or add anything IMO. Ripley finding Dallas and Brett is creepy and disturbing but it's really not needed. I know that scene in particular kind of stirred some controversy as to how the Xenomorphs are created since the purpose of trapping them in a cocoon was supposedly to transform them into eggs. Personally I can accept that there are multiple ways for them to procreate whether it's through a queen laying eggs or a lone Xenomorph in the wild left to its own devices to do it themselves if necessary but ultimately I don't think it matters since I don't believe the scene in the Alien Director's Cut is accepted as canon.I personally liked it, the DC of Aliens definitely makes it better overall. I don't think the DC of Alien did all that much.
Talk about dead franchises.I think Covenant underperforming had a little to do with not so great word of mouth plus the fact that it was released in a more crowded time at the box office having to compete for screens with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pirates of the Caribbean and Wonder Woman didn't help it either.

HARLAN BAND LEAPS BEFORE HE LOOKS!
SUZEE'S SMARTER THAN A MILLION BOOKS!
I haven't thought about that show in YEARS. Talk about a throwback...
It might be a terrible idea but considering how you can work around certain timeline issues with cryosleep, in theory you could have a movie where Rain & Andy crosses paths with Ripley and they even throw David in there. A big Alien: No Way Home type of film where you tie all the things together. It could be fun to see though it could also be a trainwreck. I know a lot of people are desperately clamouring for "the final movie" in the David trilogy but what do you event want from that film? The derelict ship in Alien and Aliens definitely become a lot less special and interesting if we set up the course of events that ends a movie with that ship crashing there.
