In 1979 Kenner (now part of Hasbro) released an 18" Alien toy that was actually quite detailed for its time. Now it's a collector's item.

alienboxlguo6.jpg

When I was a little kid, I went to the house of one of my mom's friends who had a son that was a couple of years older than me. He had one of those things, and I remember not knowing what the hell it was but just being transfixed by it. He didn't let me play with it. :( Even at that age I was thinking "Is that supposed to be for kids? It looks naughty."

Even if they were responsible for stupid things such as the "flying Queen Alien," Kenner's biggest fumble will forever remain having thought that Alien was just going to be a sci-fi movie. Even today, I still can't see the sense behind it. Someone had to have realized with the shelled skull and phallic head going on that this wasn't going to be a movie for all ages.

ok...but your forgetting that androids betrayed in the first....why not the second?or how do you know Burke didnt have anything to do with it?

think outside the box my friend....think outside the box......

Forget about thinking outside the box. You should try exercising your basic reasoning and logic skills. The things you are stating barely qualify as theories. Your idea about Bishop makes no sense for multiple reasons. During what part of Aliens did Bishop have an opportunity to put an alien egg under the dropship landing gear. All of the eggs were at the bottom of the atmospheric processing center and Bishop didn't have an opportunity to go inside of it at any part of the movie.

Secondly, you're idea of Bishop betraying the marines would be completely inconsistent with his perceived programing in Aliens. If he had the capability to betray a civilian or marine why did he warn Ripley of Burke's intentions to take the alien face huggers back to earth after Ripley told Bishop to destroy them?

If Bishop had put an alien egg under the landing gear like you said why did he wait until the the last possible moment for Ripley to return in time before the atmospheric processor exploded? If what you are suggesting was true then Bishop's objective would be to preserve the hidden egg at all costs thereby making sure the dropship returned safely to the sulacco undamaged. What Bishop did at the end of aliens was dangerous for his and Hicks safety but, it was also very heroic. This selfless action like all of his other actions in aliens suggest his programming was designed to protect human life at all costs. Let's not forget that he was the only one who voluntered to bring the dropship on remote. Without Bishop performing this act everyone would have died.

Now on to Burke. You've got to be freaking kidding me. Burke died before the second dropship even landed on LV-426. Please give me a logical explanation for how Burke was able to get an alien egg from LV-426 onto the second dropship from the sulacco because he would have to perform this before he died.:oldrazz:

My suggestion for you is the next time you try to explain away a plothole at least try to form a theory that sounds somewhat logical instead of just throwing out random ideas that don't correlate.

Here's another plothole for you. How was Ripley able to hold onto the alien queen after it destroyed her heart and lungs after bursting through her chest?:oldrazz:

we dont know for definate that that planet was the same one....especially considering Ripley had been floating for years....it couldve moved or they couldve extracted and set up shop elsewhere.........

I have no clue what are you talking about. Did you miss watching half of Aliens? After Ripley's case for the destruction of the Nostromo was reviewed it was revealed to her by the commission board leader that LV-426 had been inhabitted by terraformers for decades. Then it was later revealed the colonists was infected by the aliens as a result of Ripley checking the Weyland-Yunati company log signed by Burke. The log discovered by Ripley showed that Burke had sent co-ordinates for the colonists to examine the same ship the nostromo crew encountered in Alien. You really need to pay closer attention to details when watching movies.

i was actually referring to the characters from Alien 3 that you so abjectly hate and dont care about...i know the other films characters had meaning but if it wasnt for the characters in Alien 3 the company wouldve got hold of Ripley or the queen wouldve hatched and the human race wouldve been destroyed......

Agreed and inspite of all this the characters are still interchangeable and forgettable.

dont even get me started on this film....the acting and characters were all pointless....

That's interesting. I don't see how these characters were less relevant. The survivors of the betty crew were responsible for destroying all the aliens on board the Auriga by letting it burn up in earth's atmosphere.

write something you think would be a better script and we'll see....

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Recognizing that the script for Alien 3 was garbage doesn't give me the obligation to write something better. I don't have the time or patience to write something that is irrelavant at this point. There are millions of writers who write for a living and could have taken a shot at writing a better script for Alien 3 then what we got. Why Fox went through 7 writers and multiple emergency re-writes is a mystery. It's obvious that they had no intention of making a movie that would live up to hype of the previous film.

what other well knowns? Charles Dance - Clemens, Pete Postlethwaite - David, Ralph Brown - Mr. Aaron........

What's you're point? I already said that these guys maybe well known in england but, they are not well known internationally like many foreign actors from that area.

all brilliant british actors....oh let me guess....not a fan of the british actor?

Not at all. I love Patrick Stewart, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Ian Mckellen, Daniel Craig, Christopher Lee, and Olando Bloom. I think it would be wise for you to stop making assumptions about people you disagree with.

this is the most childish response.....grow up

Maybe you should grow up. I don't see any reason why I should get excited for soundtracks in films that stink.

again childish

Again you should take your own advise. Calling someone's opinion childish simply because you disagree with it is childish.

so the crap acting and the fact that arnie got thrown 30ft across a carpark by a FEMALE terminator didnt at all bother you? they used sex to sell that film.....it was pointless....what was the point in having arnie in there if he was just an empty shell for it....couldve just had any unknown.....you know like the rest of the cast.

Once again you're making assumptions. I never said Terminator 3 was a good movie. I thought it was okay but, the movie had many flaws. You mentioned some of them above. The question why you went off on this tangent from the Alien 3 discussion is a mystery.

my entire rant wasnt aimed at just you....seesh attention seeker or what :p.

That's interesting because I could swear you were responding to me.

again not all aimed at you

See above response.

all the way through the original trilogy you are under the impression that Vader is a selfish and spiteful villain.....THE MOST EVIL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE i believe is his title....yet you find out he killed everyone not for his own gains over the public (clearly you need to watch the film again) its to learn the power to save his wife....to bring her back from the dead....he just wanted the secret...he wanted everything for his wife....thats not an evil man....thats a man under the thumb and scared of his wife....you cant fear a man like that....he wears the dark black cape and james earl jones mask but she chooses which one.....(yes i know she died before he wears this but its a joke...)

I totally agree:

Anakin's decision not to follow Mace Windu's orders in the confrontation of the emperor didn't draw Anakin closer to the darkside of the force.

Anakin cutting off Mace Windu's hand was not evil and didn't draw Anakin closer to the darkside to the darkside of the force.

Anakin allowing Emperor Palpatine to kill the critically injured Mace Windu was not evil and didn't draw Anakin closer to the darkside of the force.

Anakin agreeing to follow Palpaltine's orders and have his name changed to Dark Vader was not evil and didn't draw Anakin closer to the darkside of the force.

Anakin deciding to kill all the Jedi younglins was not evil and didn't draw him closer to the darkside of the force.

Anakin deciding to kill all the unarmed viceroy was not evil and didn't draw him closer to the darkside of the force.

Anakin deciding to choke Padme was not evil and didn't draw him closer to the darkside of the force.

There is no way Anakin's love for his wife could be corrupted and no way he could turn to the darkside after using the force like a Sith in a reckless and selfish way.

You can see it in this production still really well:

The films all have their little variations. A fan (Figuremaster Les) did some charts a while ago documenting them all.

Awesome:wow:.
You know, just wondering, Am I the only one who thought that the aliens from AvP looked good, maybe even the best of the movies(pushing it a little maybe), though that's probably the only thing in the realm of good in that ghastly movie.

Correction: The aliens in Aliens were the best, but I'm just wondering if I'm alone in thinking that the AvP aliens looked good?

You aren't alone...in fact I'm with you on everything you just said.
I made some comments on AVP recently and one of the few good things I could say about it was how the Aliens were designed and depicted. In fact, I think my favorite character in the movie is the Grid Alien. lol.
I also agree that the Xenos in Aliens were the best design. That may have something to do with the touch of Stan Winston.
Honestly I like all of the designs.

Caught this last night....meh. Though I did get a laugh out of the pizza guy remarking, "what the **** is this, the Titanic? **** that women and children first ****!" XD

OK folks. I figured we would do something different. Let's post our Aliens and Predator collections.
I'll go first. Mine is relatively modest, but it shows that I'm a real fan I think.

The Mcfarlane stuff has never come out of the box. Then there is the Kenner stuff. I have BIG plans for that face hugger. I'll post the pics if I ever get it built. The resin warrior stands about 18" high. I got that off e-bay for too much if you ask me...but he is impressive none-the-less.
I worked at a theater when Ressurection came out which is how I acquired the movie poster and 35mm trailer (yes, that is an unopened trailer shown on movie theater projectors). The rest are my movies. One of them is the Alien Saga DVD which is an award winning 2 hour doc, narrated by John Hurt. It talks about all 4 movies and is great. It's more than enough info for me, which is why I never sprung for the Quadrilogy. It's not on the Quad, so if you haven't seen it, check it out.
I was actually planning on picking up Pred 2 this weekend, so that would be another addition.

Great collection .... love the classic Alien v Predator 2-pack.

I don't understand why the writers didn't just adapt one of the AvP comic storylines into a film. The comics have pretty much all been better than these two movies we've been given.

I think that pretty much goes across the board for any translated property...
Goyer did it to great effect in BB. I guess it just makes 2 much sense :o

The budget would have to be extremely high to allow for all the action and there's no way in hell FOX will fork over that kinda cash.

That's right. Given the money Fox was willing to shell for this one, the only thing the filmakers could do was have it in a small setting on present day Earth.
I would think if the Bros Strauss had their way, they would have jumped all over a chance for a future setting using high tech weaponry.

Given I'm not a huge fan of either franchise, all I wanted was a dumb monster mash movie but what I got was a cruel snuff type of movie with limited monster action. None of the human cannon fodder struck an emotional cord even though they clearly tried to go over the line by killing and torturing children, babies and even pregnant women. The human characters were as poorly written as possible. The FX and the encounters were poorly handled and often far too brief. Sorry but this movie is a waste of time on nearly every level.

2/10

I have McFarlanes Alien Queen Diorama Box Set, A Movie Maniacs 9 Soldier Alien and Dog Alien, And i have a Movie Maniacs 7 Corporal Hicks with the assualt rifle, I also have the box set video for 1-3 with a behind the scenes making of Ressurection and the Ressurection box set (which contains the same behind the scenes)

I am looking to get some more Alien figures and the limited edition Movie Maniacs 7 Hicks with the Shotgun (apparently quite rare and very cool as he is without helmet), there is also a few Predator figures im interested in including the transaparent figure that is available from Mcfarlane....

not really looked into any other figures as im gonna concentrate on collecting the AvP books and the Aliens and Predators graphic novels....(the books out do the films when it comes to AvP imo...and the graphics novels are good....well some are anyway)

oh and theweepoeple....

enough now....you have your opinion and i have mine....

ok so there were plot holes and yes i tried to defend them....funnily enough the films fiction and you werent there so you dont know for definate what the writers or director had in mind when they made it....so just enjoy the episodes of the saga that you do like and leave us with the respect and love for alien 3 be....cos end of the day your never gonna change our opinion of the film and we'll never change yours.....

take a pill to chill dude...

that would be cool to make....taking a regular predator and adding the alien skull to its spear....

would be cool indeed
