agreed...AVP Requiem just sounds bad. it sounds like they're trying too hard to make AVP sound cool or significant.

yet another blow to my already dashed hopes for this film...

I figured they were just assuming that most people wouldn't understand that Aliens vs. Predator is a new film, and as such they wanted to toss another word on there. You can just imagine them sitting around the boardroom trying to figure out what fits.

"Sasquatch?"
"Caramel?"
"Sequioa?"
"Nougat?"
"Aw hell yes, that's a great one."
"I think it should be foreign."
"You mean like... Burrito?"
"More foreign."
"Chow Mein?"
"We're only doing ONE word, Bob."
"No no, I mean like, in a foreign LANGUAGE. Make it sound SMART"
"So like... EL Burrito, then."
"ONE WORD!"
"I still think that's not foreign enough."

requiem?

huh... um... well, yeah. okay.

oh, and still no trailer?! what the hell?

JoBlo claims to have a trailer description...

http://joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=9031

TRAILER DESCRIPTION: It starts with: ‘In space…’Then a shot of what looks like a Predator spaceship on fire, flying towards earth. Then: ‘No one can here you scream’. Then shows the spaceship crashing on earth with the words: ‘On earth, it won’t matter’.

Lots of different quick shots, one of a girl having a nightmare then the dad comes into the room, saying there's no such thing as a bogeyman, and shines a torch on the window of her room, only for a alien/predator hybrid to jump up.

Then there’s shots of what looks like a lab or hospital with face huggers jumping around, an Alien appearing behind a doctor and similar scenes. Then there's lots of shots in the rain, such as an alien jumping on a helicopter and a predator facing off against two aliens. Lastly there’s a montage of face huggers, explosions, aliens and predators all to to the song’ Silent Night, Holy Night’ – and it finishes with: This Christmas

i like the line at the beginning: "on earth, it won't matter"

kind of clever.

i can totally understand that. i never wanted it to be called Aliens vs Predator in the first place...but AVP Requiem just sounds bad. it doesn't sound smart...it sounds like a b-movie...

...the very thing the creators of Aliens set out NOT to do.

Sounds...sort of uneventful. Even though I know this is probably a leak, I was hoping for more flair. The most annoying thing about the Resurrection trailer was the slow build at the very beginning and then the flash of random shots.

kind of clever.

Reminds me of the teaser trailer for Alien 3. "In space, no one can hear you scream... on Earth, everyone will hear you scream." Of course, that was a major screwup on the marketing staff's part, because it made everyone think Alien 3 was going to take place on Earth, which was never the case. The teaser was supposed to be saying that we'd all be screaming, hear on earth, when we saw the new movie. Which did NOT convey.

Well, that was the Resurrection teaser trailer. And this, too, is the first trailer for this movie. The full Resurrection trailer was obviously more eventful and informative. I assume the same goes here.

If this trailer is really great, maybe it'll change my view on the content. I'm not in the mood for a full trailer...the mystique should be maintained before release.

Trailer sounds decent IMO

Then there's lots of shots in the rain, such as an alien jumping on a helicopter and a predator facing off against two aliens.

Like the sound of this part

"one of a girl having a nightmare then the dad comes into the room, saying there's no such thing as a bogeyman"

That sounds really LAME

other than that, it sounds like a cool trailer.

At least this is a Predator not named Scar who's capable of facing off against more than one...

There's a huge difference. Their names aren't the same. Originality FTW! :oldrazz:

Anyone getting a Tremors vibe? Not that it's a bad thing, just that I think small town and Tremors always seems to fly up.

I'm not sure i'm not saying anything till I see it...but jumping on a helicopter....sigh...I need to see it to evaluate any opinion

Colin just revealed over on AVPGalaxy that it is NOT the ship from AVP that crashes to Earth, nor is it a new Predator ship passing by Earth.

So what does that leave us with?

The only possible explanation I can think of is that it's one of those Predator "pods" that delivered the predators to Earth in AVP (and also, presumably, in the first Predator).

Not feeling the title at all. The trailer sounds o.k though. At least they're acknowledging the Christmas time of the year thing and using it to their favor.

i love that line... finally a good tagline unlike somethig generic like "this december all bets are off" lol!!

the trailer sounds alright.... if they ever intend on releasing it

the trailer sounds awesome.
I liked that "on earth, it won't matter".

Admittedly the "On earth.." Tag is better than something stupid they normally put in and it definately is a nod to the oldskool...GIVE FOOTAGE NOW!!!

The Alien movies have always had great taglines... with the possible exception of Aliens. "This time it's war" is pretty generic. But it did make sense.

"In space, no one can hear you scream." One of all-time classics.

"The ***** is back." A little silly maybe, but very memorable and a clever tie-in to the classic line from Aliens.

"Witness the Resurrection." A little obvious? Perhaps, but only because it was so perfect. Besides, at this time no other movie had used the "Resurrection" subtitle before, so they making use of something that made their title unique.

"Whoever wins... we lose." Generally considered, even by those who hated the movie, to be a completely brilliant tagline.
