Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!!

I think the move to Tuesdays behind Flash is going to work out beautifully for LoT...

I agree, they're probably the two most compatible shows on the network. They're both set in the Arrowverse, they're the two most male-skewing dramas on network television, they're both science fiction, there are multiple former Flash characters in the Legends cast, etc.

Lead-ins aren't historically as much of a factor on CW as on other networks but I think this could be an exception.

Another thing that may help is dodging Thursday Night Football.

I read an interesting thing that just about every drama on TV is more female skewing. Except the CW superhero shows. Even Supergirl is more male-skewing than other TV dramas.

I think it would be great to get Legends away from football and Big Bang Theory.

Considering the Flash is CW's #1 show, that is what is known for LoT as a strong lead-in. But...IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WRITERS!

There are more on cable, but the only male-skewing dramas on network TV are Legends, Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Gotham, and SHIELD. Lucifer is almost 50/50 at 48% male. iZombie isn't coming back for a few more months but it's about 50/50.

Well, if we wanna be nitpicky and technical about it, anything above 40% (I think) sort of counts as a "male skew" because iirc around 60% of all watching network television are women. ;)

Do we know what the ratio is of male/female that have the Nielsen box?

I have no idea but I would assume it's set up to reflect the male/female ratio of society in general

Supergirl Live+7 ratings increase for the Nov. 28th "Medusa" episode

Live+Same Day = 1.1
Live+7 Days = 1.9
A 73% increase

Total viewers
L+SD = 3.53 million
L+7 = 5.29 million
A 50% increase

Dang.....

and its reruns aren't doing too shabby either....they have all be above the CW average.

Yes, even the most recent rerun of Supergirl got a 0.4 as compared to a 0.2 for the most recent rerun of the Flash. And 1.30 million viewers v 0.93 million for Flash.

Encore ratings for Supergirl and Invasion!

Supergirl - 0.3 1.2 million
The Flash - 0.3 1.09 million
Arrow - 0.2 0.74 million
DC's Legends of Tomorrow - 0.3 1.12 million

Interesting that the Supergirl episode that was barely a crossover episode had more viewers than the really were the crossover episodes had.

To say the least.

The fact that it returned down doesn't mean anything, though, because it's already been renewed for Season 3.

The Winter Finale was inflated because of the crossover.....

It is on level with the rest of the season, if not actually a little higher. It's average is .85 and that is with the first 2 episodes, and the winter finale, those three averaged .95.

In reality, it's not off at all....the series low was .6, the two following were .7 then the winter finale.

I don't know how well promoted last night's episode was leading to it, but last night's episode itself wasn't that good.

Sure Supergirl got renewed for the 3rd season, but they need to make the episodes must-see tv or something to grab the viewers' interest. I feel last night didn't do that.

It still matters, it's just not immediately relevant. Supergirl is guaranteed at least two more seasons due to the CW's Netflix deal.

But the ratings in the meantime will dictate whether if goes past four seasons, and if so, how far. And they will also help WB sell the show internationally, and help decide how much and where to promote the show.

The unrounded prelim is like 0.77, so there's a small chance it adjusts down to a 0.7.

The most interesting results this week will be the Riverdale premiere and Legends of Tomorrow's shiny new post-Flash timeslot.

Right now the CW pecking order is
The Flash

Supergirl
Arrow and Legends
Supernatural

Jane the Virgin

Crazy ex Girlfriend

Vampire Diaries (ending)
Frequency (de facto cancelled)
No Tomorrow (de facto cancelled)

We could very well see Legends hop over Arrow and Supergirl, and Riverdale is a total wildcard.

As for returning veterans:
iZombie is guaranteed at least one more season
The Originals could go either way
The 100 could end if the creators want but it'll probably be back
And Reign is already dead

Legends is not going to become the CW's #2 show. Even at a .7, the show is entirely stable.

I agree there as I wonder how many people will know about their new move tonight.

Let's not forget that last night's episode of Supergirl had to follow the mid-season finale, Medusa, which was a great episode.

It's moving from self-starting on a tough sports night with a semi-compatible 0.66 lead out to running right after an extremely compatible Flash show with a 1.15 lead in and a much weaker sports night.

You're really underestimating how much of a boost Flash could give Legends. I could see it stabilizing higher than Arrow or Supergirl for the rest of the season, even if it won't be enough to move the total season average above them.
