Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!!

That might have been the case about Legends had it not just got more episodes ordered as of yesterday.
I did not claim it would fail this year, on the contrary I'm rather certain it will be renewed.

CBS has no stake in Supergirl. It's all a bit speculative at the moment as none of us really know for sure but the joint ownership seems to mean that both CBS and CW get to air a certain number of shows on the network. This means that they are held to different ratings standards and as the CBS shows generally rate lower, a performance which might get a WB show cancelled might be safe for them. As an example, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend would certainly have been cancelled were it not a CBS show.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend hasn't gotten cancelled because it has some awards under its belt

CBS has no stake in any of the Superhero shows on the CW...

It owns
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Jane the Virgin
No Tomorrow
Vampire Diaries

I keep hearing that, but I've yet to see any proof for this assessment.

The CW renewed everything except Containment last year. That was... unusual.

Vampire Diaries is a WB produced show, as is Originals. CBS has a co-production credit but WB keeps most of the money.

And there's little evidence that CW cares about awards as far as renewals.

Crazy ex-Girlfriend is still around because CBS has to have a minimum of 3 out of the 10 hours of CW programming per week.

Containment was the lowest-rated WB show that wasn't close to syndication. Not unusual at all.

LoT isn't in the same boat as regular shows. 4 seasons won't makeit hit 88 episodes. While I think it'll get another season or 2, it won't be instantly safe.

CW doesn't necessarily need to hit the traditional 88 episode mark for their purposes. That's really more of a traditional network TV thing. The only CW shows that get traditional syndication deals are the major hits like Arrow and Supernatural.

The Originals was one full season away from 88 yet it only got a 13 episode order this year.

Cost of making Containment as opposed to Crazy-Ex Girlfriend is probably a good bit different as well.

I wasn't talking about Containment being cancelled. I just thought CBS might have wanted to switch out one of their shows or so. They can't be very happy with 0.2 ratings for CEG, one would think.

It means the CW tries to balance the number of CBS shows with the number of WB shows on its network.

So... each partner has their own (say) ten shows and they're managed separately? I.e., if WB wants to stick with a low-rated WB series, CBS doesn't care because it doesn't affect their half of the bottom line?

Interesting...

Not really. I mean, the CW schedule is clearly dominated by WB at the moment. But, they will keep a low rated CBS show around to please CBS.

TheCw couldve easily cancelled JtV and CexGf and replaced them with other CBS shows. Now CW is beating out high rated networks during award season. That is important for any network especially tge type of talent they can bring in.

The show is obviously very cheap and it's already got some episodes under its belt. CBS hasn't had any sort of hit on CW in quite awhile. They probably don't think they can do any better, and with Frequency's performance it's no small wonder why. The awards don't hurt but I'm sure the primary factor is the low cost.

*citation needed*

I'm being snarky, but I'm also serious- people *say* this, but have yet to present any evidence its actually a fact.

Probably because in the statement itself, it is speculation and prediction...not that it is happening right now. Speculation doesn't constitute a citation, or evidence at the moment. Once they say...

"Superhero fatigue has set in" THEN, citation, facts, evidence is needed. He's just speculating at the moment.

I think it just means "Superhero fatigue has set in" for those individual posters. There is a whole thread in the DC Comics Films forum on this website with the title
"Is Anyone Else Getting a Little Tired of The Berlanti DC Shows" and it is already at 10 pages. There is no real evidence that this is the attitude of the TV viewers
overall, as the CW superhero shows ratings rise and fall by about the same amount as comedies and dramas on the other networks.

If so, then the poster shouldn't make dispositive statements like "Superhero fatigue must eventually set in". That pushes it out of speculation territory into statements of fact, IMO.

Only tangentially related to Supergirl and the Arrowverse, but the CW has ordered a magic-based gang drama from Rob Thomas directly to series. Rob Thomas is the executive producer of iZombie (as well as past shows like Party Down and Veronica Mars). Thomas is also developing an adaptation of The Lost Boys for the CW.

This is relevant because it shows that the Warner side of the CW is focusing on specific creators. These other adaptations from Thomas are good leverage for iZombie getting more than just one more season after this one.

This is another reason why none of the Arrowverse shows are going anywhere -- CW has a lot invested in Greg Berlanti. Arrow, Flash, Legends, Supergirl, the upcoming Riverdale, plus the CW Seed shows Vixen and Freedom Fighters: The Ray all add up to a ton of pull for Berlanti with the network heads.

If they are going to do a show with a magic girl why didn't they just have her be Zatanna?

The rating for Changing is 0.8 and 2.61 million viewers. This is great, despite the pre-emptions last night.

Yeah, it is going to adjust down due to the pre-emptions.

EDIT: Yup, .7. Good and steady.

Steady as she goes but yes the pre-emptions will adjust...especially in NYC. I hope the Jets and my Patriots do not have an MNF game in the future. If so...I WILL REALLY BE MAD.

The Jets play Monday, December 5, against the Colts, and the Patriots play the following Monday, December 12, against the Ravens.

But I think Supergirl will be in repeats by that time.
