Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!!

LoT got nothing out of that move....that is pretty surprising to me, BUT....LoT did help their numbers overall on Tuesday nights, so that is a positive.... Heck Flash barely beat Supergirl in viewership.

Another thing that I find quite comical is "Quantico" was a show that the guru's of numbers and what not always pitted against Supergirl and would slam SG when people would say that Supergirl on CBS had better numbers, critics would say, that is only because Quantico is on Sundays that SG gets better numbers.

WELL, ABC moved Quantico to 9 p.m. MONDAYS....and Quantico's numbers were

0.8/3 2.90 on ABC Supergirl at 7:00 were 0.8/3 2.65 ON THE CW.

The amount of disrespect that Supergirl got last year, is just sweet nectar this year. ;)
 
The thing to remember about CW shows, is that most of them are pretty darn stable. They have their core bases that will follow the show. Which is why the established shows are more likely to end on their own terms than to be cancelled.

Yes, this was actually talked about on the business end of it during the Upfronts in May....it is said that advertisers are willing to pay more money for advertising on the CW because of the strong fan bases, and younger demo...so I can definitely see what you are saying...
 
As far as the Netflix contract and a Season 3 means a Season 4 on the CW....can anyone point me in the direction of where this is written?

I believe that it is part of the contract, just wondering where the information came from.
 
The move to Tuesday nights did nothing for Legends as it remained the same, so I think their getting boosts from Flash is overestimated. Supergirl remains the #2 show, whether close or distant.

I think all the superhero shows will be down this week as I expect Arrow to be down as well.

It is a general rule for shows. If you have had 3 full, 22 episode seasons, you are pretty much going to get a 4th season in order to hit the key 88 episode mark for great syndication deals.

Honestly, I think the only thing Netflix affects is networks willing to let a show get to finish up, as Netflix prefers complete shows.

I do know that rule, but from what is being said, this is a "for sure, for sure" because of the Netflix contract.

As far as the other, the big thing that Netflix changed with the CW this time around was that the shows will begin on Netflix IMMEDIATELY after the season is completed, whereas before it was months before it showed up on Netflix.

But, no the other I mentioned has been mentioned by a few people, I was curious as to where that (source) came from....

As far as 88 episodes, the only way Supergirl will get to that in a 4th season will be Season 3 and 4 a full 23 episodes each. Which would be nice. :)

This is the first time The Flash has ever been below a 1.0. Surprising result. We'll have to see if this is an anomaly. Far too early to judge the success of the timeslot shuffle. And of course, we have to compare it to how the new Thursday lineup does, as well as how the old Tuesday lineup did.

As for the Netflix/CW thing:

I can't find a specific source but since the beginning of their deal in 2011 not a single show has gotten a third season and then subsequently didn't receive a fourth. Even Beauty and the Beast, which had ratings so low that certain CW affiliates were outright refusing to air it in the fall, was renewed for a fourth season before its third season even started. They just dumped it in summer and cranked out the episodes.

The 88 episode number typically tossed around is for traditional TV syndication. It's still relevant, but far less so for The CW. You can count the number of CW shows that have been syndicated in the traditional sense on one hand.
 
Flash could be anomaly. At the very least they are going to heavily promote the Grodd episodes and the Supergirl crossover. Thursday could be interesting. I keep wondering if being up against Big Bang is going to finally kill Supernatural. Of course the other thing is whether Riverdale is any good.

Supernatural will be renewed as long as the two stars sign contracts.
 
Looks like Arrow is down as well this week....

.06/2 1.68 viewers

all are still, of course, well above the CW average of .02. :)

The thing I did notice, however, was that Arrow was up against mostly reruns, whereas, the other shows were not. :/

Legends may have returned lower, but it still performed better than No Tomorrow, the series it replaced in that Tuesday-at-9 slot.

Oh yes, it definitely "helped" Tuesday night...it just didn't get a lot of help itself.

Flash
Supergirl
Legends of Tomorrow
Arrow
 
wow!! Arrow's ratings are that low??

I finally got caught up on all 4 Seasons of Arrow ( and Flash 1 and 2 ). Is the new season of Arrow not doing good?
 
It lost a bit of its audience. It tends to happen with shows that go on this long. I also don't think it helps that last season ended up being a mess.
 
And this last episode apparently didn't help things a bit.... :/
 
I was right that the ratings for all the superhero shows in were going down across the board.

At least Flash and Supergirl were not far off from each other in viewership.

Because Flash set a new series low and dropped 3 tenths from the midseason finale, Arrow tied a series low and dropped a tenth, Legends of Tomorrow dropped a tenth despite its new timeslot, and Supergirl dropped 3 tenths.

There's really no other way to look at it. It was a down week for the Arrowverse.

It's really nothing to worry about in the grand scheme of things. Just the news of the week, and it caught a lot of us off guard.

I think the CW missed an opportunity with not pairing Supergirl with Riverdale on Monday nights. I think they should have left LoT on Thursdays, and moved Jane The Virgin to Thursdays, chilled with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend until the Summer and put it wherever they wanted it.

Supergirl has its fair share of Glee fans watching because of Melissa, and I think they could have promoted Riverdale as "from the producers who brought you Arrow, Flash, LoT AND GLEE.... and tapped into that fandom and I think their ratings would have been better. Supernatural is not much of a lead in at all....
 
They need Supergirl to prop up Jane the Virgin because without the compatible lead-in it would likely be doing Crazy ex-Girlfriend numbers. CBS probably demanded it, because right now none of the CBS shows on the network are even close to doing well.

They had hoped Riverdale would be fine paired with Supernatural, but Supernatural had a very low 0.6 (unrounded prelim was like 0.556), so Riverdale didn't really have much help.

As for Glee, by the time it went off the air it was already doing CW ratings, and this was a few years back on Fox.
