The Dark Knight All signs lead to an amusement park confrontation

Yea there was a big long article on him in the sunday times over here and they said he was 37.

Regarding the truck flip...

I thought that's where batman kicks his ass and joker gets arrested only for him to escape from his cell with help from the fat guy with the bomb in his stomach?

I was told that after the truck flip there would be a final fight and that the chase and truck scenes were the final scenes in the movie. I was told this by a PA, however, it is entirely possible that he was incorrect.

*whistles* Nothing to see here, folks...

An amusement park confrontation would be perfect for this movie. But I haven't heard anything. Is it possible they could be filming one on a sound stage?

Did you guys know that the original Batman 89 was supposed to feature a Batman vs. Joker in an amusement park scene? It was cut. You know who might be performing at an amusement park?

The Flying Graysons.

Very interesting, where was the amsuement park information found?

that's not even the least bit funny, and we all know how nolan and bale feel about the robin character.. not gonna happen.

Wasn't supposed to be funny... and why should it be up to the ACTOR whether or not a character is introduced? Maybe Nolan grew balls and decided to test himself as a storyteller rather than just taking the safe or guaranteed path to popularity? Just an idea... and I think a great director could make it work. A mediocre or bad one couldn't. Could Nolan?

... neither one of them TRULY knows anything about the Robin character. When asked why the old Bat movies got so bad, Bale falls onto "bat nipple" jokes. He doesn't care about or understand Batman. He thinks Batman = dark, period. All you have to do to be "in" with the fanboys is read a few forums or comment boards. You'd probably reach the same conclusion and you'd know to say "bat nipples" when asked to prove your knowledge. It's Hollywood. Believe it or not, they know how to play you.

I agree that a good director could make it work. Let me say I hate the Schumacher films but one of the things I really didn't think was too bad was the introduction of Robin. Now I say "the introduction" of Robin. The origin story with the Flying Grasons is a really dramatic and poetic story. However what went drastically wrong is how the Robin character was developed, or not developed. I liked how Val Kilmer reacted to Dick Grayson and refused to let him be part of his fight against crime.
However, I think, the reason Nolan is choosing not to go with Robin is simply because the idea of Batman as a loner is just far more interesting and psychological. The minute you have Robin in there, it changes the way you percieve Batman. It would certainly be a challenge to add the Robin character and keep the same depth and seriousness about the characters and the story.

Robin = unnecessary. I don't wanna see Bruce playing foster-daddy.
Batman's got enough on his plate in this film as it is.
and believe it or not, any director worth a damn as an artist will take other people's opinions and suggestions to heart, especially if they are coming from a fellow artist who is helping a film come into fruition. Don't think for a second that these films are 100% Nolan, with the cast being as good as it is.

Bale has read Batman books like Year One and Long Halloween. I'd say that means he cares more about the role than George Clooney did, who basically admitted that he did it for the money and career boost (well... at least he got the money).

It's from the killing joke comic, and the semi truck joker has comes from what appears to be an amusement park, plus the shirts they gave to extras for the hospital scene also show the amusement park in the background.

Plus a sound stage/hanger in the UK we have received reports on that indicate it has been turned into an amusement park.

I don't know who this guy Larry is. But he's good.

Real good.

I don't think a minor reference like that is that big of a deal.

But I would rather see an old decrepit and closed down carnival like the one in The Killing Joke instead.

If a reference like that is made (even if it's just a throwaway one), it'll be analyzed the hell out of, butchered, sliced into a dozen pieces, made into a 500 page thread of "i dont want robin in at!" and etc. etc...

I mean, come on. We've had threads about the Joker's knife for God's sake. Imagine a reference to the Flying Graysons.

I'm not crying out for a kid with a lame mask and a yellow cape. I think it's amazingly ballsy to have Wayne confronting growing older and his own mortality while trying to guide somebody who is a mirror image of himself. That's storytelling. Batman grows as a crimefighter... but Wayne still has to grow as a human being. What better way?

I meant a reference, as in a poster about the Flying Graysons (ala Batman and the Mad Monk). If fans see that, they'll be writhing all over the place.

haha I agree with you on that but then again, what DONT fans writhe all over the place about? Costumes, capes, side kick or no sidekick, Keaton's hairline or height, Kilmer's lisp, Bale's over-the-top Bat-voice, muscle development... fanboys just whine. Period. The only thing they tend to not give a crap about is whether or not it's actually a good movie.

yeah. that's cool. but obviously it'll have to be after batman gets a little older. maybe movie 4 or something. and i'd want robin to be in college, not an orphaned kid. that's a little pedophilish.
