I was watching Disney Channel with my little brother and a Girl Meets World commercial came on and they mentioned Batman and Superman fighting from Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns. Haha.

This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]501517[/split]

Are you ok? I hear we broke ya last time. Thanks for that wonderful pm. I'm sorry you got my Lionel Richie voice mail last time. Hello! Is it me you're looking for? I can see it in your eyes. I can see it in your smile,
You're all I've ever wanted, (and) my arms are open wide,
'Cause you know just what to say.
And you know just what to do.
And I want to tell you so much.

In an alternate universe we could have had a 1990's Batman vs Superman:

I watched that Superman Lives doc last night.

Nic Cage looked decent.

His Clark Kent was on point. You would never think that guy was Superman. I'm sad we never got to see Burton's version. I would rather have that then SR.

I really wanna watch that Doc, and if the plan was to have that film tie in with the Burton films I would've been all for that.

That story about Singer carrying around the Cage Superman pic on the Returns set was ridiculous.

He may have mocked WB for trying to make that Burton flick, but what he made was forgettable. At least Superman Lives would have been unique and interesting.

I hate Singer for what he did to Cyclops, but that is another story and for another thread.

Dark Knight Returns ...Most hated comic of all time for me.
I second that!

The interesting thing is my brother told me that superman was the one who won the fight not batman and about 15 yrs later I read the book again and I phoned my brother and said; "ÿou LIED to me, Batman won the damn battle!" and he laughed and said; "no I didn't lie, because despite of all of batman's efforts superman was the last man standing and he wasn't even trying to fight batman! Bruce was an old fart who couldn't even finish a fight he started!".
LOL your brother was absolutely right to laugh at you.
Clark had barely broke a sweat, the acid and kryptonite are barely a distraction. By the time Clark hears Bruce's heart he's purposely not even fighting him. Just taking blows from the rambling falling apart Bruce, till he's just cradling in his arms.

The "VictorY" that everyone talks about for Bruce is that he uses Superman's obvious victory, to help himself disappear again, and reinvent himself as neither Bruce Wayne or Batman, but a new life.
That is Bruce Wayne's "victory", how he "won".

Of course at the funeral, Clark catches it, and smiles, and he is now accomplice to it, and as true to Superman/Clark Kent he allows Bruce Wayne to start his fight a new.

Great homage. great story.

You could play a drinking game watching the Superman Lives documentary too. Take a drink every time Jon Shnepp nods his head. :hehe:

Where can I buy a physical copy of the doc? Like what site?

So, is there anyone else who...perhaps, isn't entirely crazy about how some of Batman's gadgets are designed?

I'm not especially fond of the grappling gun and that...grenade launcher thing. There was another gadget that was black, but I can't remember the name. I guess I just prefer his gadgets to have a more batmotiff going on. The batarangs look excellent though.

I particularly love the grappling gun. Dat wooden handle :hmr:

I think it gets a little campy if every thing Batman owns has a bat on it...like the 66 show.

Yeah that's my biggest beef with it. *shrug*

Doesn't need to have a bat on it, but rather have a vague batlike shape to it.

So to you all of his gadgets have to somehow be shaped or represent a bat? Is that what you're saying, just asking that's all.

The wood finish design on it gives old school type of vibe to me, which i like. I'm just meh with the other stuff tho.
