Since we're on MoS -

When my mom watched it she said "Well, he should've done that sooner!" when Supes snapped Zod's neck. :D

Is he wrong though (King666)? There are so many Marvel movies lately and most have the same tone with a different story, that sound pretty "flavor of the week" to me.

“Chris Terrio and I worked on [Batman v. Superman] script, and he did an amazing job,” Snyder said of the March 25, 2016 blockbuster.

So apart from having his name on the credits of BvS has Goyer and his work on the film ever been discussed before or is it all eyes on Terrio (which i'm cool with).

The sad thing is that majority will just read the title..

Marvel's "flavor of the week" regularly brings in more critical and financial success than his last Superman film, so I'm not sure I agree that a movie is just "transcendent" by nature of it being a Superman film.

He also addressed recent rumors that the focus of Batman v. Superman is skewing more Batman than Superman with six months left to go before it hits theaters.

“Only in that because it’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do—and you just had a whole Superman movie,” he smiled. “But I think only in that way, because you need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that’s more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on.”

I think based on this Batfleck will have a bit more screen time than Cav-El and that doesn't bother me (if it doesn't come at the expense of Cav-El having any scenes cut or anything) but I kinda find his ''you just had a whole Superman movie'' comment weak. I mean he himself said it's not a Superman movie until the very end, it's a movie about Clark becoming Superman. Either way one could also say we just had a Batman movie a year prior to the Superman movie. :p

I hope thats not WB's exuse for no MOS2 (even though for now I consider BvS as MOS2 so let's say another Superman solo film); ''You've just had one, now it's time for all others!''. :hehe: Probably reading too much into this but hey it's better than reading too much into that Ant-Man comment that has everyone (on some other sites) ******** and engaging in DC/Marvel ''wars''. :whatever:

The war is coming because of those comments.

What war...it isnt like comments between the two havent been ongoing for a while now. The only ones who care are the fans looking for a reason to poutrage.

Also to quote myself about the Snyder comment, I forgot to add, this seems to confirm the beggining of the movie will be Bat-centric, which a lot of peeps have thought would be anyway but this kind of confirms that and more Batfleck screentime (since Snyder was asked about that and felt compelled to make explanations/excuses - as in he didn't deny it, I wonder how herolee feels about that. :sly: :oldrazz: )

I do think the discussion of whether or not Superhero films are the new western is an interesting one. Westerns used to dominate tv and film, and superhero films are doing that now. And it may be accurate to compare the Marvel movies to the John Wayne films; generally formulaic, sometimes forgettable, and with a few times where it works perfectly. MOS strikes me as being a bit more like a Jimmy Stewart western; deliberately avoiding some of the expected tropes and cliches while embracing others.

And if comic book movies start to die out, we can always look forward to the comic movie equivalents of Silverado and Unforgiven.

^Cavill himself has said that. They are setting up Batman and need to flesh out his role and who this Batman is. It's all common sense stuff that every single person on this forum should automatically know. Nothing new.

I like when Snyder said it all evens itself out. Probably when Lex shows up is where we'll see more Superman play a bigger part and how that factors in his relationship with Batman as well.

He's right, you know.

It's a little "shade" like but... Ultimately he's not wrong. Superman and Batman do transcend things like GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY or ANT-MAN films, hell they transcend film itself. They are baked into the culture of America and the world. Are the Marvel films having their deserved moment in the sun? Absolutely, no doubt. They are huge... But Superman and Batman have been percolating in the collective unconscious since BEFORE America's involvement in WORLD WAR II. Think about that. My grandmother who is still alive was born in 1932 before either was created, yet she and every generation after has grown up with these two characters. They ARE the UR texts of this thing we call "Super Heroes".

To be clear, I don't think he was referring to his film in these comments but to the characters themselves, in which case, again, he's not wrong. To argue against that would be like trying to argue against how artists like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley or the Beatles have transcended being just popular musical acts.

I like Snyder. I know he means well. However, I'm sometimes baffled with some of the things he says. Superman and Batman are yes, indeed iconic and popular characters. He's right in that regard, but his obsession with viewing these characters as mythological beings is getting tiresome at this point. His comments here do sound a bit pretentious IMO. With those comments he just made, he better hope to God BvS is a great film and not have another decisive reaction like MoS.

The CBM genre has changed and evolved. He should really realize that at this point.
