So does anyone else feel like getting these little snippets of info, a pic here, a trailer there, and so forth has kind of desensitized them to the scale and scope of this movie?

I went back and looked at the first pic reveals and the first trailer and seeing everything in quick succession kind of makes me go "Holy ****...this is big, it's happening". I remember when the greyscale Batfleck picture came out and everyone was so excited about how it would look when he moved, and fought, and now we've got all this great imagery from the trailers that draws on iconic source material like DKR and a CBM is actually getting Oscar-winning talent working on it.

It's easy to ***** and moan about Doomsday not looking like he did in DoS or Lex being such a departure from what we're used to, but at another level I look at it and I think it's never going to be this good again, we're getting an epic event of a movie.

That, and I'm gonna get me some sweet sweet Gal Gadot screen time. <3

To mark the start of the new thread, I'm delighted to unveil the real name of this film:

Batman v Superman: Todd of Jason

I'm not getting it with this, but I definitely have that feeling toward Star Wars, so it could still happen for me. I felt that way before Avengers 2 when the Civil War was being pushed, so I didn't even bother to see the movie or Ant-man. That's very unlike me.

I admit I am one of those people who *****ed and moaned about some things in the recent trailer and the film in general but, I can't deny it is all pretty exciting.

Just my opinion but Man of Steel trailer 2 is better than Batman v Superman trailer 2

Yeah that's kind of what I mean, I feel like we've gotten so much information that it's beginning to lose its significance a little. I think I'm going to ignore another trailer or any TV spots they do for it.

I was just thinking of it today and I remember my first reaction to the image of Armored Bats next to the Bat signal and Superman on the roof top was "If these still images look this good, I pray the movie sequences look as iconic" and they honestly do. I don't want to speak for anyone else but I think a lot of that gets lost when you watch a fast paced trailer, but going back and looking at things now like Batman swooping through the window in the CC trailer or Superman hovering with the glowing eyes makes me realize we're really seeing an immensely faithful on-screen portrayal of source material in terms of how epic the scale and aesthetic is.

One thing to keep in mind about the CGI topic is hkw seemingly subjective it is.
In the discussions I've read, people will suggest a movie with an example of good CGI to them and someone will disagree and vice versa.
There's still a line between big budget CGI quality and real life that just may not be possible to blue enough to please everyone's perceptions.
Not to mention these images are meant to be seen in motion and not freeze framed for analysis.

Which is understandable on a forum like this in all honesty, I do it too quite frequently, but sometimes when I chat to people who aren't quite as involved in analyzing everything I realize we're getting something fantastic. Whether it lives up to everyone's idiosyncratic renditions that they hope to see on screen or not, at the end of the day it's insane to think we're getting a blockbuster Super hero movie on this level.

I remember watching some crappy old 70s or 80s Captain America movie on VHS and that stupid Double Dragon movie with Mark Dacascos thinking I wish they made CBM with blockbuster budgets, looking at what CBMs were to what we're getting now makes me instantly grateful, "cave troll" Doomzod or not :funny:

I agree with you 100% I honestly like what I've seen from Lex so far and the look of Doomsday even if he does not "transform" does not bother me. Honestly I think some (I did say some not all so don't break out the pitch forks and torches) of the people with Negative comments are just either hating to hate and have no interest in the movie to begin with or just like nitpicking.

There is absolutely no other film being released that I am more excited for than Batman v Superman. I loved Man of Steel and I'm loving what I've read and seeing from the birth of this new DC Movie Universe! I'm so excited. This is a great time to be a fan of Superman and/or Batman! This is such a moment in comic book history I have been waiting years to see!

MoS trailer #3 beats all. :funny:

I disagree. It's a great trailer for sure, but the BvS CC trailer takes the cake for me.

On a different note: according to Ike Barinholtz, the budget for Suicide Squad was 250+ million! If that's the case, what are the implications for BvS? The budget had to be more right? I mean, I never believed the 400+ nonsense, but maybe 300?

You know what I find kind of funny. We know a fair amount about Batman v Superman, not everything of course, but a fair amount. and I feel like I know so very little about Suicide Squad. I'm super excited for both films no doubt. Man so many good films coming soon!

I don't believe that. Why would Ike of all people know that ?

I think the CBM market has become so saturated and so popular so fast people have forgotten how lucky we are. Ten years ago comics and general nerdery was a fringe-interest, we're seeing a pop-culture spike that's going to last for a finite period of time. I can understand people wanting to capitalize by seeing their favorite story arc or whatever adapted faithfully, but at another level I think people should also be grateful that any story arc is being put on screen with the amount of detail and obvious passion as what we're getting.

And this applies to CBMs in general, the Marvel films also have a staggering amount of authenticity and quality to them, we're pretty much in the golden age of CBM cinema. I don't really mind what other people do, but I'm not going to spend that time whining because the Lex I'm getting isn't tall enough or bald enough or exactly like he was from a particular cartoon/comic.

Eventually CBMs will be out of fashion again and we'll have to subsist on ****ty little independent YouTube web series adaptations and we're all going to wonder how we could've been so negative and full of **** when we were getting a movie where like 3 or 4 actors had won Academy Awards or something.

:hehe: That's a good way of looking at it. And you're right. We're definitely lucky to be witnessing all of this at a quality level even while some still aren't too fond of the quality. :yay:

When are we going get a new official poster? I just remember the 2 teasers they released with the second trailer. I'm dying for a new iPhone background

If Smith came out and said the budget I would believe it. Ike is playing at best a minor supporting character in a seuence or two. No offense to him but I think he knows jack all about SUICIDE SQUAD's financials.

Haha yeah, which I can understand, but a fair few of them are whining far out of proportion considering the end product. This is going to be insane based on what we've seen in the trailers.

CBM fans now are like those scummy people that win the lottery and lose their minds now that they've got some money to throw around, start gold plating their toilets and whatever. We've completely lost perspective because of how crazily the genre as taken off. We're basically druggies at this point, we keep getting our fixes and needing bigger fixes to keep us satisfied.

Also, Ayer loves practical effects. He doesn't use CGI and movies with practical effects cost a lot less to make. Fury's budget, for example, is less than $70 mill.
