I like how she's towing the line JUST enough to not get banned.

So what happened? Were post removed?

I deleted a bunch of trolling/off-topic posts complaining about Disney movies and making jokes yesterday.

And I deleted more this morning....

Thank you both for the info. Puts the last few post in context.

if all that happens is posts get deleted, what's it even matter if they are kept? :o

From what I just read (the deleted posts)...you were among those turning this thread about a horrific event into just another joke fest for your amusement....if it pleases you I can go back and infract everyone, including you, for doing that.

I was the first person to ask why the hell Disney movies were being brought up here. Pretty sure Kelly was there with me.

The jokes about this are disgusting and all over the hype.

Stop while you are ahead....really.

How big of a settlement can the family get? In a world where Erin Andrews can get 30 million plus from a hotel for a freaking peeping Tom, I think 100 million minimum is in order. There is no precedent for this unlike something banal like a sexual tape going public. What about theme parks where rides have gone awry leading to a fatality? Clearly, the family needs to get paid a massive amount.

It won't go to court, and we will probably never know how much because the parties involved will probably have to sign agreements to keep that quiet, but it will be a substantial amount.

This was not vindictive or exploitative. I feel horrible for the family and feel Disney was negligent here. What that means in a court of law, I have no idea. But 100m does seem rather excessive.

Yeah, this is probably exactly how it will go.

100 million is excessive for the death of a child, but not for Hulk Hogan?

Come on.

I wouldn't even know how to put a price on it really.

There is no price to put on it. Which actually is part of why $100 million seems excessive.

A few million. Hell, let's say even $20 million.

$100 million is over-the-top.

There is so much crazy, crazy, crazy mathematical crapola that goes into these things it would blow your mind.

They can go as far as trying to figure out how much this child "could have made" in a career.....it is ludicrous how these things go, and where they go.

*sighs*

And we aren't even talking about those that saw it happen, and the $$$$ amount they will put on their trauma.

Just so sad....

The Hogan situation was unique because of how the people of Gawker acted. They were super flippant and arrogant so the jury punished them. It was BS, as much as Gawker deserved it on a moral level, it was way, way, way too much.

I can't imagine standing there seeing that happen, and feeling so helpless to stop it. It isn't close to what the family must have felt, but it was definitely be traumatic as hell.

Oh yeah......the family will not be the only people Disney will be dealing with.

Whether they get 100 or 1 million dollars... does it really matter to the parents? What are those millions going to solve? Obviously I don't know their stance about this but I would guess the money is almost trivial in this situation.

When that amount is given, it's basically to make sure they're comfortable for pretty much the rest of the life they have to live without their son, and they know it will pretty much make the issue go away after a time period. No one thinks a life is worth 1 million, but 100 million? Ehhh.....

My guess is Disney would balk at a $100M settlement #, and the family would risk looking greedy if they pushed for a mega windfall and this thing ended up in court. Disney should be held accountable for the lack of alligator warning signs and for not dealing with the wealthy bungalow guests feeding the gators next door at the Polynesian, but i think a settlement in the $10M-$25M range is more likely.
