It's looking pretty good so far. It's supposed to be, what looks like to me, a Mass Effect-esque game. An RPG-Action, third person shooter game in a Modern Day Espionage setting. It's being developed by Obsidian, who worked on Star Wars: K.O.T.O.R. II.

You play as Michael Thorne, an agent who is forced to go rouge after a mission goes bad and he's cut off from his government contacts and ends ups being hunted down by the U.S. Government, "In response, Michael uses the eponymous "Alpha Protocol", though it is normally reserved for more senior agents, and begins to operate undercover. to uncover the conspiracy."

One of my favorite aspects that they're promising is the structure of the game, and how you can form your Michael to be.

The interview I read, with one of the producers, was going by the theory of the "Three JB's".

You can choose to operate and ultimately become one of the three JB's, if you'd like. JB's being, three of the more popular current day spy heroes we all know. James Bond, Jason Bourne, and Jack Bauer. You'll be able to be be suave, and be more gadget oriented. You can be an expert with hand-to-hand combat and get things done coldly effeciently.

Or you can be an expert with guns, and torture people to get the information you need.

It's set for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.

I'm interested in it but the animations and some of the graphics need major work. I think the game is still a ways off though.

Yeah, I wouldn't be suprised if it got pushed back a few months. I think it's set for an October release, but even that doesn't seem concrete.

I do like the concept it's got. I'm such an espionage freak too.

It definitely has some serious potential. The concept is just too fantastic.

Did anyone here see the walkthrough on PSN?

I think it's on LIVE too, but it was a nice walkthrough.

Yeah, I watched the couple videos that were on the Marketplace. Thats how I noticed it needed some work. Its got a great concept and depending on how it shapes up in the coming months, I'll probably pick it up.

I really want this game to go right.
Not only because it sounds amazing, i really want Obsidian to be back to form (for the ones that don´t know, Obisian is also called Black Isle II, makers Fallout, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale, three game i old dear in my heart)

New video on gametrailers. Its 14 mins 30 seconds long. Its looking a lot better than it used to. The framerate and animations still need work but the developer play testing it and talking to you throughout the video knows that.

Thanks for the heads up Paradyme.

I'm about half way through the video, and I have to agree.

It's looking alot better than the last time I saw it. I think it was a middle eastern level or something, last one I saw, but the gameplay looked much more solid here.

It does look buggy, the animations do indeed need work...I think the most obvious ones have to be when Michael takes out and changes weapons and aims as well, and tossing grenades. The stealth kill, also, where the huy talking us through it mentions it.

But, I'm thinking this game could very well be ready by October, from what I'm seeing.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if it wasn't polished by October 6th. I'm going to go ahead and reserve this and then wait for the review from Gametrailers and pick it up. Unless they release another video like the last one showing how they have fixed things.

Yeah, I'm onboard for the same thing Paradyme.

There seems to be alot of good will towards this game, I've noticed. Everyone wants this game to succeed and be good...just because the concept is so ****ing awesome.

I'll give it a pre-order as well. Then wait and see.

No joke and now that we reserved it we get an exclusive shotgun and rifle :woot:, if we pick up the game.

this game is on my buy list next to splinter cell conviction and the agency the later in my list is more like team fortress 2 but might be possibly cooler. anyway.

see you can make the main character in almost any image you want I might enjoy this game more. the the option you have seem really cool. hmmm I might be comparing both this and the up coming splinter cell game a lot to each other. but seeing how there is a difference game play wise I'd say it's in a league of it's own slightly there. this games gonna be cool when it comes out.

Can't wait to play this game. I'm totally going the Jack Bauer route first.

You're gonna scream at everyone and only use a pistol?

lol, nice.

I think I might go all Solid Snake on it with a stealth character focus.

It looks like a game that should hold up nicely with multiple playthroughs.

Yes. And do some torturing. Lots and lots of torturing.

lol, I love that show.

I would be surprised if they don't make the achievements force you to play through multiple times.

I like the box art.

Not just a espionage RPG, The Espionage RPG

Yeah, Obsidian's got some balls there. Better hope the game lives up to it.

I'm definitely excited for this. I'm already hooked on the RPG aspects of it. I can think of three different playthroughs:

-The badass ruthless soldier, Jack Bauer style
-The stealthy professional assassin, ie Jason Bourne
-The suave, jack-of-all-trades spy, a la James Bond

What's REALLY going to decide if I'll actually do all of that is the shooting mechanics. And to be perfectly honest I'm not as optimistic when it comes to that.

We'll see.

Me I'm going "Jack" Bristow route on this he was the other JB that of the Spy bunch that scared the crap of any one that messed with him. and he didn't have to yell to do it. he just scared them in very creative ways.

I especially liked that stunt he did with the defibrillator to a guy with in the show Alias. I guess you have to see that one oh and what he did to that traitor in counter intelligence when he messed with his kid by putting the guys head into a vice grip.

Yo man that guy was hard core, when he was around. and he had leader ship qualities in him too. he was good for solo and team missions. he sort what cyclops should be but hasn't reached. well personality wise and how he should deal with stuff unfortunitly.

It would have been interesting if they made a full series of him. well the younger years any way. what ever. I'll be creating my own character to a degree no matter what. this will be cool. hopefully this game doesn't get screwed up.
