wow you got you self deal . it went to 20 $ faster then Expected. no wait if I had waited like you did and saw the reviews I'd have not bought it. and I only did a review cause the
video game site's show i hang out at was doing the other systems this game was coming out for. so i had to do in case some thought it's was different there. it slightly is but still has issues. but I'd have keapt away from this until the bugs were ether fixed or not touched it at all.
Actually, it dropped to $40. I used a $20 off coupon, along with SAVER, to get the game at $20 + tax, with free shipping. I read some of the reviews, and what was decribed sounded alot like Mass Effect 1...set in an espionage world. The only thing that scared me was the talk of glitches galore.
I've sunk 11 hours into it so far, and luckily have encountered 0 bugs/glitches.
When you think about it though that's really sad too.
Well enjoy the game. and the best and smartest spies always get info out of every one after they'd defeated them. Not just Execute cause they feel like it. you'll get far with this advice here and turn the tables.
yeah enjoy the game.
Yeah, I agree. It's sad that the talk of glitches and it being a broken game overshadows the game itself. The base of the critique I've heard is that it's buggy and glitchy dispite the delays. I haven't run into any myself, yet, but it's true that a game with so many delays ought to be polished.
I am really, really, really enjoying the game. I'm a huge espionage fan, and love RPG's...so this game is hitting the mark with me. There's some interesting stuff with the dialouge system they've got. Making convos into a timed decision is interesting, and does actually make you second guess yourself even more than other games where you can wait and think about it.
And, I'm almost certain that Mass Effect 3 will swipe (and nicely so) the email response choices in this game. I say that only because ME2 had emails we'd get to read, but never respond to.
I keep bringing it up, but I think it's an apt match. This game reminds me alot of Mass Effect 1. The cover system is better, and the shooting is more responsive, but it's a good RPG with a subpar shooting system. But, building up my Ninja-Spy has been fun. Stealth is rather cartoony, in an oldschool stealth game way. I don't know if it's that it's an RPG or just the setting, but I'm able to forgive the dumb AI because it's not an action-shooter or stealth-action.
The story is interesting, I'm digging the political undertones, and the concept of Alpha Protocol is interesting as well. The characters are all interesting so far, too. Being able to form your character into a James Bond-like spy by always being a smart ass is fun, or being nutcase ala Jack Bauer by always being aggressive, or Jason Bourne-like with cold professionalism. The backstory when starting your spy is also interesting, in that RPG-sort of way of how one can role-play with a game.
I don't think it's a $60.00 game...but I think at the price it's at now, $40.00 it is worth the price tag. If your copy isn't as buggy, or glitchy as claimed...then I can't see why any RPG buff with an interest in spy flicks can't enjoy this game. It was a steal at $20.00 brand new, really.
I think a 6 is too low a score, as I've seen it scored mostly. It's not a 10, but I'm hovering around an 8-ish right now.
