She's one of the hottest "talents" in the news business, which could be good opportunity or a potential problem for Agent Thorton in Sega's Alpha Protocol.

Factions Trailer

Agent Michael Thorton has found himself in the middle of an escalating war within the organized crime syndicates.

hmm the reviewer said the characters were schizophrenic??? that might be cause of the choice thing he did. They did mention that certain choices cause certain results in the middle of the stories with characters you meet to act differently to wards you, and not just the end results. I guess that guy might have missed that when they brought the news on that out. who knows.

watch some gameplay here

oh you might notice in one of the videos that with stealth run perk you can run straight in front of guys and face stab them in the neck. or just plain run right past them by running in front of them. though it might have some thing to do with that blue camo stealth armor as well, since those guys have high tech goggles that armor must make him invisible doing the stealth run. I'm sure some will find a way to complain about that. But it's kinda funny to look at. well I'm not gonna take this game too seriously.

I'm gonna wait for other reviews like I always do and do my own thing after that when I make my final chose to pick this up or not.
this is a game for fun of course, it's not focused on(serious) stealth alone. You can play how you like. I wouldn't be surprised if the game got criticised for being a bit clunky (which it looks like it is.) or dumbed down on. But this isn't for hardcore games - it's just for gamers and seems to look more like fun than someone wanting a challenging, emotional game/experience.

If your one of those that kinda take things too seriously, you might blow a fuse with this. though they still could have done much better though. maybe these guys need to merged to bio ware so they can have better development structures I know the that's the head of obsid was former med engineer like the bio ware creators. it'll only benefit Obsidian Entertainment to have more time and better production I think.

Only time will tell. I'll just wait for the reviews. which I'm sure will be mixed. and more on the i don't like it side anyway.

Joystiqs Review:
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/28/alpha-protocol-game-review/

The last paragraph is very telling. I wonder why it isn't polished enough? They had extra time right?

As a reviewer, I can understand how a company can release a game with structural issues. Sometimes that stuff is just too deeply ingrained to fix, or maybe you really believe it's the right design choice. I'm going to call you out on that stuff, but there's a chance I'll be able to get past it. But to release a game that's just plain not finished and to expect people -- to expect your fans -- to pay the full $60 for it? That's where you lose me.

well they did push it back orginally to this year fall and then they move to this month spring after a mix up when it was actually supposed to come out. and they are working for sega and seeing sega's barely standing minus the last cart game. you did see the reviews for the second iron man game right ? hmm... anyone working for them seems to have an unfinished game for some reason.

Review

Is this action-RPG a summer hit or should it stay undercover?

I'm gonna wait for giant bombs and victor lucas's Reviews on the Runs "review."(hopefully the latter isn't late) but this isn't looking too great. This thing went gold according to Game spot sales. They did try to put in some good stuff, but they didn't finish it. And that's what's really killing this game here, other wise it was on the path to greatness.

Oh btw one of the actual programmer Dev's that did the game play told the truth on what went wrong on KALEL114 second post from joy stiqs review on comments. Apparently it was one of the appointed heads at obsid and visiting Sega people for changing things on what they want done in the game a lot on them when they should have been concentrating on making the game good with what they already had. As for the push back I think they did it cause they didn't want their sales effected with competition. They didn't care about polishing the game. It looks like they are making the same mistakes that they made when they were concentrating on the hardware of the console they once had and the extras they were putting out that went along with that. only this time around they don't have that as an excuse here. In fact that was the reason Sega lost their console in the first place. they weren't concentrating on the whole of the games ( game play wise or looks wise ether) they sold back when they had that.

They have to let these people working under them finish the god damn games.

Must be what went wrong with the recent iron man game as well. oh we listened and fixed the problems from the last game. Then why is it worse the the last game Sega?

I´m sad that Alpha Protocol is not all that, i was looking foward for this one.
More than the game itself, i was hoping it to be the return to form from Obsidian (once called Black Isle, one of the best RPG devs with games like Fallout, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment).
I´m very very sad.....:(

The Video Review

I also put up what that dev on joy stiq said and made a few comments.

here's what i said
Here's what I found from joystiq there was a programmer from the game. that said this on page 3 Qoute:

:
a tired dev @ May 28th 2010 2:37PM

I worked on this game (a fact of which I am not proud). I'm not here to defend it; I agree with all these reviews.

First, a comment for the guy at Cheesecake Factory - Most devs eat in the office most days, if they do go out they tend to grab something at the food court and head back. I know the execs take long lunches, but they often use them for informal meetings as well. Most of the programmers and designers very rarely ate outside the office during the time I was on this project.

more from here.

seeing what happened with the last iron man game I'm beginning to see that sega is going down hill in bad choices again which was what cost them their console to begin with cause they were just pushing out games before they were finished. and trying to sell their consol. Only the console isn't an excuse this time around. Why Sega is doing these mistakes again, I have no clue. but they should stop hiring and putting people in charge like this if this truly is the case and not letting people do their jobs where they should. As for obsid I think it's time to let bioware buy them out and work for a developer that will actually let them have the time to finish their god damn work in area's it should be finished and give them the money to do so as well. And not push back cause they are worried a bout competition. they should be polishing the game when they push the game back . not doing it for lame reasons cause of the competition.

I've been playing it. You know, if you can get past the piss poor gunplay, its really a good game. The story is well crafted. The characters are well developed. Its got some interesting mini-games.

But most importantly, the dialogue options and interactions, and the way you can help dictate the plot should be considered a benchmark in game design. The dialogue options actually do let you feel like you're part of the game and not just an observer who has to follow a set course.

OK I did a review of the game since I got the pc version. But the game play is still buggy. And that's what made me give a low score, but not so low that I think it completely unplayable.
there were alot of cool elements.
But they should have done better with the game play. Especially the shooting.
I did it on the electric play ground forum since vic's guys only did the 360 version.

oh I'll also put on the g4 Canada one as well while I'm at it. since the reviews on the run site put it out so late. like next week.

here's my review.
Alpha Protocol pc version.

here's reviews on the run from G4 canada. sorry if you can't view if your in europe. http://www.g4techtv.ca/

just go to "reviews on the run 15th" it's there. steve tilly and Rog did the review of the game for vic's show.

I'm thinking of picking it up when the price drops. It sounds, from what I've read, to be sorta like Mass Effect 1. Great RPG, great story and dialouge, but with annoying bugs and bad gunplay.

Which is fine with me. I loved ME1, and as long as the RPG elements are strong I can overlook (quite easily) the lackluster shooting.

it's more the just those the camera messes with you really bad. so much so that un less you don't stop moving it'll continue to do so. and the game really fights you when trying to control the character at certain times.
heck the damn game erased a misson I did finding out albertross had info I needed and Iwas talking to him and I had to do the damn thing over again.

Btw don't trust auto save in certain area's like if you just bought up grades for your weapons gadgets and armor. always make sure you save your self auto save save seems to betray you alot other wise. as I found out with the contact president sung in the Taipei mission.

there are more bugs and glitches then were previously mentioned. so be forewarned.

there hasn't been patch yet. and I'm not sure how likely there is to be one. as I said if there is a sequel I hope obsidan is merged with bioware by then so they can have the right resorces to finish there games right and to not have boss's that screwing the workers over in where they should trully be working on the game. heck after all the conduit has a sequel.
