Am I alone in not being excited for S9?

I think last season was my last season of Smallville. Nothing at the SDCC panel excited me about the season and the suit, prototype or not, is the big issue.

slowly? the show dropped like a rock as soon as the KK arc began. And then stumbled to get back to where they were at the end of the wedding episode.

Then they dropped the ball on it with that blink and you'll miss it final fight.

still will never understand how the fights between Clark and Bizzaro, Johnathan Kent, and Titan all seem to be much longer and more detailed than the freaking DOOMSDAY fight

damn did they drop the ball in the last quarter on that one

and even they were wretchedly pathetic. Enough is enough already. And it's not the budget. There are a great number of shows that have delivered not only larger, but better action sequences on a grander scale. DS9, Voyager, Farscape, BSG, Buffy, Angel... all have had bigger, better fights, with better F/X, and the majority of those were over 10 years ago.

Well so has Smallville which would indicate that the fight wasn't as huge as we all anticipated because of other reasons.

If you think about it, if Clark wasn't allowed to kill Doomsday and had to bury him, as per the comics, then there really wasn't any reason for him to fight him to the death. He had to get him out of the city and bury him deep in the ground. That was his goal and that's what he did.

The show cant be blamed if fans have an expectation and that expectation isn't met. We the fans just have to wallow in the disappointment of what could have been.

It does, but unless you add things to your dictionary which I'm always too lazy to do, then you get red lines under everything... which can be a little annoying to. But it is nice to know when you have made a clear spelling error or a typo.

And count me in as one who is looking forward to Season 9. Although, I cant decide this year if I'll go with the iTunes purchase. They take so long to make them available and I know if I try to obtain the episode through other means, I can watch it within a few hours of its original airing.

you're far from alone. I too am still on the fence about next season. Zod is supposed to be the big bad this time, and It feels like a rehash of Lex's entire journey. I hate to break it to you TPTB, but you can't do it any better the second time you'll only hurt yourselves. Add to that the continued dismantling of the only solid relationship on the show, Chlark, and their need to force this poorly developed Clois "romance" on us it just makes me want to vomit.

After all these years Clark still needs to be reminded why his humanity is important? c'mon that's lazy and stupid. Stalling him just shows there's no more room to move him forward unless you bring him backwards first:whatever::cmad:

Ya even though the whole lana arc well just power/requiem dropped the ball bad i still say their was some good things like infamous, stiellete, and parts of the other second half episodes that were still good. Yes other stuff like the lack of an actual fight which they could have done something better like the titan fight and then have doomsday buried and not killed would have been better, same goes for the mess they made with jimmy. If they explained it more back when we first were getting hints at something wasnt right it could have worked out better.

Smallville hasn't yet delivered... It's survived on the promise of delivery up to this point. Atleast the shows I refered to did deliver on the promise action. I'm tired of wallowing in the disappointment that the production team has limited vision and inspiration. It really bothers me. I think what it boils down to is two perspectives on maintaining audience: 1) you can tease the audience all season, without delivering til the end (how SV is, and even that is questionable) or 2) your show can actually be good, and one can deliver the goods in every single episode (how SV should be)

The fight between Clark and Doomsday. All that build up to a fight that minus the quality of the Doomsday suit wasn't even on par with a Freak of the Week tussle from season 1 and lasted about half as long.

listen, all the fights on this show have been pathetic, except the one against Zod, and that wasn't a fight, it was a beat down

You obviously have never seen Kal vs Pa Kent or Clark vs Titan, and the only fight that comes to your mind is the Zod "fight" which wasn't even a fight? LOL!

Link us to these other fights that have "delivered" on such a grander scale than SV, I bet they haven't.

I rather enjoyed Clark VS bizarro, too.
Both times.

I'm a bit confused, I heard that Clark is in a costume finally on this show, and all I see is footage of him in one of the most passionless, vanilla, hollywood excuses for a "superhero costume" (the black trenchcoat), and people are excited about it? Are you guys seriously excited about this? I figured Superman fans would be livid, I even remember hearing comments about them pulling something like this in the first couple seasons and people here saying that they would drop the show. But I see people making excuses calling this a "prototype suit" like he's Iron Man.

guys, sorry to disagree with you.

the C vs. Bizarro consisted of one charge by Clark, and a single punch, the other 99% of the fight was experienced indirectly by the rest of he cast... you barely even saw clark.

Kal vs. Pa was good, at the time, for early season, as was the fight between Clark and the wanna be Namaan. But it's hardly comparable to what we should be getting at this point in the series.

Clark vs. Titan, another beat down, with one punch.

Zod is still my fav. Yes a beat down, but a beat down for a reason. It wasn't a beat down for beat down's sake. It was a strategem, which worked. That whole sequence at the end of Zod was brilliant, from Clark's arrival, to the solution.

as for examples:

DS9, over 10 years ago:

[YT]wwKnvRPIrl0[/YT]

Buffy, 6 years ago

[YT]AulmE9IgX4k[/YT]

Farscape, 8 years ago, couldn't find a perfect clip, Youtube is getting bad for that now. Episode preview

[YT]2cO0CIqr7IE[/YT]

BSG, 5 years ago, music vid from a single episode, (edit, don't work)

[YT]nHg2EwMZ_4c[/YT]

Lest we not forget B5, groundbreaking for it's time, twenty times as epic as SV

[YT]Ml1w92pk-Jc[/YT]...11 years ago, I still hope that one day, I will have dignity in my eyes, when smallville finally decides to deliver Superman.

[YT]4RJ8OnrsKTQ[/YT] ...12 years ago, who doesn't love queen?

well most have said clark/titan was a pretty good fight. But ya that has been a problem on the show for years with fights or lack of fights. Hopefully we will see more with that.

I'll try to help you. First you need to understand that the show is basically a re-imagining of the how Clark became Superman. Next you need to know that TPTB will not put Clark in the classic suit until the end of the series. They will start with this costume and it will evolve into what we traditionally think of how the suit looks. It really isn't as big a deal as others seem to make it.

Ya they pretty much said in interviews at the comic this black outfit is taking ideals from the comics when he did black suits, and is their first steps to getting him into an outfit and out of just the red/blue jacket-tshirt deal we have for years.

I just can't believe you guys are that starved for a Superman suit that they have Welling in a damn Trenchcoat with a shirt with the shield on it and you guys are in any way happy.

*Looks at multiple threads of manips of Welling in the traditional Costume*

Nevermind, I'm still confused how you guys really think you will ever see Welling in the Traditional Suit.

i dont see how that costume is the prototype of the classic suit....at what point does clark decide to put red underwear on the suit

as i pointed out the producers have said this is just another step to get clark towards a more traditional suit later, will we see tom in a classic tights look probably not, it will probably end up being something more like the justice leaguers suits in a style like classic look.

I originally wasn't but after seeing the CC thingamabob...I really am. Funny how that works.
