so you're not sold on the franchise that's proven to be successful but have faith in a movie we know next to nothing about and the Avengers which could be a giant cluster-****?

At least no more disappointing Smallville Comic Cons. Everything about last year down to the questions asked all felt pre planned. Like they gave everyone in line before they sat down a list of questions to ask. Even someone showing up in a Batman outfit got old pretty quick every year

i didn't enjoy any of the recent batman movies tbh. and no the avengers will be great same with captain. it's man of steel im worried about right now.

I actually think The Avengers has a greater chance of bombing than TDKR, especially considering that the Avengers will have about 5-6 main leads, and most Marvel superhero movies usually tend to be all over the place with just one main lead. It could easily end up being a popcorn flick, as well as Captain America.

Though I will give Marvel credit for actually pushing through with the Avengers and using the individual movies to tie in and give the origins of each character. They're definitely doing a better job than DC was back when those Justice League Mortal rumors were coming out with Tom as the lead.

no offense but that's delusional to say the least. so i assume ironman & thor were just "popcorn" flicks too? you do realize the nolan series isn't the definitive superhero movie right? about the only movie im worried about bombing is man of steel, if it does there will be no more superman. and bane as the main villain...really?

I haven't seen Thor yet, though I heard it was a decent/good film, but I though the first Iron Man film was the best recent comic book film until the Dark Knight came out, and not because I think its the definite comic book film, but rather one that suits the character very well. I still think the best may be Spider-Man 2 because it has that perfect mix of action/story/emotion/romance that really makes it stand out. And if SM3 wasn't such a disappointment amongst fans, then I think that that would've been the franchise that everyone would try to measure things up to.

But I think ever since superhero movies started becoming popular after the success of X-Men and Spider-Man in the early 2000s, there seemed to be more focus on just getting a movie out rather than getting a good movie out. But like I said, Marvel is ambitious and I like that, and there's no doubt that Cap and the Avengers will make their share of money, but like TIH said, its easier to back up something like Batman that has proven to be successful than it is to back up the Avengers because there's that slight chance of the project being rushed out to accommodate all of the different stars and trying to find a way to fit each of them in the right way. Kinda like how people hated the treatment of some of the more major X-Men characters in the trilogy where it seemed more like Wolverine was the only star with a supporting cast around him.

TDKR could easily fail like SM3 did, but since it doesn't seem like Nolan has the studio changing his ideas around and forcing him to include or exclude certain characters, I feel a lot more confident that his vision will both do the character justice and create a riveting story.

Personally I think marvel studios have been handling their stuff great.

Thor and the first Iron Man were fun movies, but typical summer blockbuster popcorn type stuff. Not much depth there but fun films. Best case scenario, Captain America and the Avengers are more of the same.

None of those films are even in the same universe as Batman Begins and TDK. And at this point, I think Nolan has earned the benefit of the doubt with whomever he goes with as a villain in the film, although Bane will not be the only one.

AS for MoS, it's going to likely be a trainwreck that got fast-tracked solely due to the legal issues surrounding DC/WB's rights to the character.

I'm still not convinced about Captain America. It will definitely be the best thing to happen for the character in terms of live action, but I still don't know how it will match up against some of the better superhero movies we've seen. But I predict it getting 3-3.5 stars out of 5 at best.

A reboot for MoS is definitely refreshing after seeing the direction Singer was going in SR, but a reboot doesn't necessarily mean it will be better, but rather that it will just be different. OI know we recently had reboots for the Punisher and The Hulk, but neither were exactly great movies. This is why I'm also concerned about the Amazing Spider-Man, especially since it comes after what I would consider a mostly successful series in recent years that didn't really deserve a reboot. But then again, I'm looking at that as an Ultimate Spider-Man type of movie, as opposed to representing the real Spider-Man movies.

I think cap will be fine. I think marvel studios found the right cord. They honnor and treat the characters in right way. And make enjoyable films fans enjoy and the general public like. Where as wb just doesnt seem to know what to do and no offense seem to just be running around with there heads cut off.

I agree the legal stuff is an issue with mos. But really we need to have this film be good. If it bombs and all that. Wb/dc could loose more rights on superman and say good bye to ever seeing supes on the big screen for probably another generation or two.

fleh.

this show was like a terrible handjob.

but to be fair... even a terrible handjob, is a handjob

See now why do you have to act like a dickhole? You could have said something like "I didn't really care for the show" and just left it at that, but no, you had to go and show your immaturity. I am sure that your maturity (or lack thereof) level is that of a 12 year old, and that's being generous.

Sorry mods, but that irritates the crap out of me.

if MOS gets canned i want tom in the next superman movie. in case you haven't heard it's been "pushed' back 6 months now.

Only the release date, which isn a bad thing. It means more time for filming which starts in next few weeks and more time for post work. Also moves it away from hobbit, bond, and others winter 12 releases.

i respect your opinion BUT many films that were "pushed" back got canned.

Sure it could get canned, but alot of films move release dates all the time up or down for various reasons. Plus the winter release wasn't officially locked in the first place. I doubt film is getting canned. We will see once filming starts.

Like I said in one of the other threads, there is WAY too much on the line for them NOT to make MOS. It's going to happen. Try to look at it as a good thing, so they will have ample amount of time for VFX, SFX, re-shoots, etc. Would you rather have a mediocre Superman film or would you rather have a kickass Superman movie that we all want and deserve? I really wouldn't be worried about this as it happens ALL the time in Hollywood. On another note, filming is set to begin this week in Chicago and the suburbs of Chicago. It's happening and it's happening now! Let's be happy and and be excited that our new Superman is about to get underway.
