Am I the Only One Who Doesn't Really Like Samuel L. Jackson?

Don't you get it?
Samuel L. Jackson is so cool that a complete POS movie and terrible, laughable idea was hyped up just because he starred in it. I went to go see it just because of him, and it was fun.

uh... yeah... except that he's not that cool... at all.

his hype is undeserved.

Yes they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in hell!!! :cmad:

i probably wouldn't like him if he took himself seriously, but anyone willing to promote Snakes on a Plane the way he did, well, he's just fine in my book.:woot:

What the hell is with this thread?

Jackson IS a fantastic actor, but he has fun with a certain type of role, realizes his stregnth and stereotype, and uses it to his advantage. He's loving what he does, and that shows up on screen- and I'd much rather see a good actor enjoying themselves than a bad actor trying to do something for oscar bait and it coming off as forced or laughable. To anyone who says he can't act, watch Pulp Fiction. To anyone who says that it's the only kind of role he can pull off, watch Black Snake Moan.

He is talented but has been making mostly crap for years, unfortunately.

Blasphemous thread and at Christmas time to boot.......for shame:csad:

Movie superstar SAMUEL L JACKSON will voice God in a new audio version of the Bible. The taped recording of the New Testament will feature many famous other black actors and musicians. Jackson was given the lead role because producers felt his deep, authorative voice was perfect for the role of God. A source tells British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, "Samuel's just finished recording a CD set of the New Testament. The recording is due to be released in September (06), with a box set of the Old Testament to follow next year (07). "Scores of other black actors, musicians and athletes will also figure, but Samuel was deemed to be the perfect person to play God."

has anyone seen "The Man" with Jackson and Eugene Levy? i kinda skipped it cause it didnt look very good but i want to know what some people thought before i can use it to support my theory.
oy, i almost forgot the xXx movies. not his best work. but he does have some really good stuff from back in the day, its just that nowadays he just kinda seems to play a caricature of himself. :(

The man was really funny
sorta like Comedy Die Hard.
I was rolling dude.

i might check it out on hbo or something then, i was just kinda wondering, cause im not really that big of sam jackson or eugene levy. :o
that and it kinda reminded me of taxi with jimmy fallon for some reason.

I think his Pulp Fiction bad ass mother****er image has gone a little too far, but I still enjoy the hell out of watching him. He's a fantastic actor even when he doesn't stick to that image. Anyone see Changing Lanes? He's great in that movie and a complete 180 from what he usually does.

Favorite Jackson Quote: "AK-47. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every mother****er in the room, accept no substitutes."

Nobody can curse the way Sam Jackson does!

He sucked in Star Wars..

Sam Jackson is a very good actor, that's truth.

But I think he was great only in one movie, Pulp Fiction. Other his roles didn't impress me.

And I also think he is overrated.

I think that he is a good actor, but a little overrated. He was great in pulp ficion, jackie brown or some spike lee movies, but nothing more. For example, Morgan Freeman or Denzel Washington are superior actors.

Jackson is good, but not that good.

Speaking of which, I watched Coming to America last week. First time I've seen it in forever. When the robber walked in, I was like "Holy $%^&! It's Sam mother^%$#in JACKSON!". Then my rommate shouted "Mmmmm that IS a tasy burger" from 2 rooms away. Which I found funny, anyway.

I dig Sam quite a bit myself. SolidSnakeMGS had a good point earlier when he compared him to Schwarzenegger. A lot of Sam's appeal comes from knowing what you can expect from him.

Favorite line (at the moment):

Charlie Baltimore: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Mitch Hennessy: I hope not. I'm thinking about how much my balls hurt.

Just about everyone involved in the recent Star Wars films sucked in them.

Eh, some actors just dont appeal to people, take for instance Denzel Washington, who by all means is a fantastic actor. He bores me to tears, its like watching him in the same role over and over. Even if its a good movie I just cant get into it with him around.

i agree that he did a great job in changing lanes, that is definitely one of my favorite performances by him because it is so different and it actually is acting.

Except Liam Neeson :)

Well, Neeson is a god among men. Not THE god but definitely A god.

But back on topic, I don't really have an opinion of Samuel L. Jackson one way or the other. Some of his films entertained me, others didn't. I'm neutral on Jackson.
