Wow... I'm surprised that nobody started a thread...

This issue is easily Gale's BEST issue... lot's of fun, a few surprises, and a great ending.

It was actually pretty good...It's the first issue of Gale's that I actually enjoyed.

As the chase between the 2 spider-men continued it became obvious who was under the mask.

The reference to Civil war was good. although a bit confusing as there is currently a "1 year later-esque" gap in Spidey's continuity right now.

Now that I have seen Menace drawn by another artist...he looks a bit...feminine....

I think that "1 year later" comment from JQ was a mistake, and meant to be that all answers of what happened between OMD and BND was going to be "1 to 1 1/2 years", because in in ASM #546 (the first BND issue), there's a Daily Bugle paper that states that it's been 100 days since the last Spider-Man appearance, so to me, it's been between 3 to 4 months since Civil War, which makes it all that more believable.

:yay:

I have to say that I didn't like this issue as much as the Paper Doll story, but I still liked it. And you'd have to be high not to enjoy McKone, whatever he does.

I got it on Monday, but I thought I'd give someone else a chance to make the thread.

Thanks for clearing that up...:yay:. I was a bit confused with the comment he made...it kinda reminded me of one year later in the DC universe. :cwink:
which reminds me they never did explain why he took a break.

Yeah...I felt the scene with the arguing family was a bit long...it felt like filler. and they over did the *notes quite a bit. trying too hard to be funny...:csad:

I loved the art. I also thought it was really cool how
the guys in the bar were able to recognize that the "spidey" was fake by the lack of wisecracks.
Nice touch

That... and the fact that Ox thought...

that the fake Spidey's ass was too big.

:woot: :woot: :woot:

Who is the other spidey?

I thought the scene with Bookie and his dad drug on way too long, and am getting sick of Screwball already. Despite all this easily a forgettable issue.

that the fake Spidey's ass was too big.

Wasn't it Fancy Dan who said that? With Montana saying that his years in prison have really taken their toll on him :woot:

It was Dan, and it was kool. And really with Fancy in the name, this should've been addressed years ago.:o

I picked tihs Issue up yesterday and wow, what another great Issue. The art is just so addicting to look at and the humor was so great, same for the action. :word::up:

Wasn't Spidey's last appearence 100 days ago mentioned in ASM #546, referencing Swing Shift?

I have a question...

At the beginning of the issue Betty mentions that the latest Spider-tracer victim is a Professor with beef against Spider-man, and that makes him the second victim to have something against our favourite web-slinger.

My question is, who was the first!?

Because i've leafed through all my issues of BND and as far as i'm concerned, all the previous victims were nameless.

Anyone care to enlighten me? :yay:

That defenitely does make sense. I mean, we don't see alot of her, and it really seems like she's a mystery.

Yeah I mean think about it...

Whenever her Dad is making public appearences, she was always by his side. Except for the time Menace attacked in #558.

Then at the end of that issue, she was all like "Bring it on, ugly!!". Clearly unafraid of provoking the villain. Why? Because she is the villain!

She's Harry's girlfriend. So would have potential access to Goblin-esque equipment/designs. In fact, that's probably the reason why they're together. She's using him!

Also, what a great twist. Back in old Stan/Romita days, the Green Goblin was revealed to be Peter's best friend's Father. Now... Peter will eventually discover that the mysterious Menace is none other than... the girl he has a crush on!! Dun-dun-der!!! Classic. :word:

You actually went back and read them? Eeeeeeeeeeeeew.

Maybe... but in the same issue, the news reporter talking to JJJ on tv mentions that with the exception of one brief moment (I'm assuming it's the Swing Shift appearance here, because they show scenes on the tv screens in the background that is art taken from Swing Shift), Spider-Man hasn't been seen in "months".

Yep... that's what she said.

:yay:

Which makes perfect sense if Menace turns out to be who I think it'll be...
Lily.

:cwink:

Indeed. I've made a thread about it. :oldrazz:
It would be better if they rounded the character a bit more...but menace really doesn't interest me.

I'm more interested in the spider-tracer killer. :yay:

I'm more interested in the spider-mugger sub-plot that seems to have been forgotten. :csad:

That's right! Now I remember.

Sometimes with the pace of BND, it's harder to recall these things!

They haven't forgotten...its just that instead of giving us more REAL clues to it we're getting teased...

The joke where Spidey says he's the spider-tracer killer was funny.
but I mean it gets a little old because its been alot of issues since than and we've gotten no clues towards the identity or even motive of this guy....

i know they can't give us everything at once. but we should of had something by now...:cwink:
