Comics Amazing Spider-Man #574

THEY DID WHAT TO FLASH??? After all those years Flash spent in a coma and the fans were upset about it, and now they choose to remove his legs instead? Jesus, just as i was beginning to enjoy BND, Guggenheim f***s it up.

What so all the characters should be permanently in fun happy time?

One moment in the book that really felt oft putting, not to mention a bit of a cheap laugh, [BLACKOUT]was the scene in which the General asks Flash how he got his nickname and we flashback to a moment with Flash and Liz in the backseat of a convertible.[/BLACKOUT]

Other than that, this was a good issue, one very respectful towards the people who serve in the military, and while I saw the ending coming a mile away, it was it was still an effective and powerful image. It also gets bonus points due to the fact it makes zero mention of the status quo of Brand New Day.

I actually thought the Flash joke was funny, and actually had me feeling a little sympathy torwards Eugene. I would say that it seemed maybe a tad out of place considering that the issue on whole was a little more on the serious side.

I thought it was funny too, something a bit personal awkard and human in a very superhuman story. But I can see how some wouldn't dig it.

Oh, I admit, I laughed at it too. But afterwards, I thought whether it was really all that necessary. Even so, that was the only real gripe I had.

Why are random hyperlinks popping up in my posts lately?

[grumpy old man]stupid rassin' frassin' capitalism out of control.....[/grumpy old man]

I've been open about my dislike for BND. That being said, this issue was pretty damn good. Like someone mentioned earlier, it was very respectful to all those that are serving currently. I personally love this version of Flash so much more than that Obnoxious teenage version.

Very touching issue. Regardless of whether or not you could see the ending coming, that last page is still pretty damn powerful.

next week we'll see what happened to Felicia Hardy's legs

next week we'll see what happened to Felicia Hardy's legs

Heh come to think of it....Where the hell has Felicia been through all this? Damn, I really don't want to see what type of butcher job she gets since she most likely won't know the identity either. damn....

So in the three month span between OMD and BND a person freshly out of a coma was able to re-enlist in to the army, and pass all the rigorous medical exams they put you through to see if you're fit. Well re-enlisting so many years after a discharge or ETS requires you to do your training all over again. So basic training is nine weeks, and AIT is on average 5-6 weeks, and then there's the entire shipping process of getting you to Iraq. Oh, and also when you enlist it's not like in movies and TV shows where you sign a paper and get put on a bus. It's weeks worth of like I said medical exams, paper work, and about a ten hour day of questioning and more paperwork before they swear you in.

So Flash was able to do all that, and have time to get his legs blown off, just so we could have this "heart warming" tale to show that Spider-Man's not the inexperienced coward anti BNDers see him as, since he helped Flash lose his legs.

Oh and remember my comparisons of BND to the Mackie Jenkins era? FLASH IS AN INVALID AGAIN WEEEEEEEEEE!

Ok, I know you didn't mean this like that, but that's just ******ed and insulting. He lost his legs saving a man's life and following spider-man's example, if he was selfish flash he wouldn't have even been there.

No doubt... stupid thing to say, given the circumstances of the
amputation.

Don't get me wrong, I think this story is utterly ridiculous, insulting, and poorly written.

Just more shock and awe for the readers of Spider-Man. Pointless.

Hey little Billy, you like Spider-Man? Remember his friend Flash Thompson? Well see, he's called Flash because he ejaculated too quickly in a car with a girl in high school. After 30 years we just found this out. Neat Huh?

How, oh HOW am I supposed to take a comic seriously when right off the bat the writer says "Don't take these characters seriously. I sure don't".

First issue of BND I have not liked. At all.

How long has Flash been out of his coma, did they really have to disable him AGAIN so soon?I'm not saying that bad stuff isnt allowed to happen to Peter's supporting cast, but come on! I was just beginning to like Flash as a gym teacher, that was a perfect role for him, but of course marvel believes nobody should be teachers because it makes them too old.

Once this OMD/BND reboot is over, Flash will magically have his legs again, just wait and see. This OMD/BND is all a dream, so far, like a bad episode of Dallas.

They're already trying to reboot their reboot and make people not associate Pete with the devil.

When you get to the point of trying to reboot the premise of your reboot, explain it away, you know the life boat is taking in water!

He'll get his legs back, just like he came out of the coma, and then by that time, some one else will be trying to axe Pete and MJ's marriage again, and will then write a "heartwarming story" having Flash lose his arms or something again.
