Comics Amazing Spider-Man #561

I think it's inevitable that Marvel will bring them back together (just not as a married couple), and JQ has even stated that he doesn't mind them being a couple... he just doesn't want the "married" tag... so they'll focus on the bumpy soap-opera-esque that will take a while, but will inevitably bring them back together.

Probably within 2 years from now... maybe 3 years, tops.

:yay:

See, now that makes even LESS SENSE! :)

What happened with all the new "single spidey" stories that the writers were gonna write? What about all the new supporting case members that you supposedly couldn't introduce with a taken dude?

Man, I really was open minded about BND. I mean, I didn't really like the idea, but I can at least understand the original explination, and the desire to change direction, if I don't agree with all of it.

But all this crap simply to avoid "marriage". Is honestly the most ******ed thing I've ever heard.

One question I would like answered (if anyone knows it, that would be great) since Harry was married to Liz.....did that still happen? Does Harry have a kid with her? Or is Harry's Marriage assumed retconned as well?
It would be a little hard to swallow that harry didn't get married because Pete didn't get married.

They were married and still had Lil' Normie...

They are since divorced and Lil'Normie lives with Liz...

Much like with his true love Gwen, they will probably have on-again/off again relations... more than likely his being Spider-Man causing the off-again relations...

And as I stated, I will be a long bumpy road for Peter before he and MJ will hook up, so there will be PLENTY of those kinds of tales to tell in the meantime.

Where'd did you get that from?.......keep in mind I'm probably a few issues behind in my reading.....was it mentioned after the "Freak" arc?...cause I haven't read anything since then,,,

So, you're saying that MJ and Carr did actually do "it". I'm sorry, I misinterpret the image. You see, when I read what Joe Q did, when he made stories like "Trouble", "Sins Pasts and Remembered", "the Other", "Civil War" as well as the "Unmasking", then what he was about to do, or did, in OMD/BND, I stop reading the comics.

I really thought..., I really hope... . No, no I should've known, I should've expected less from this garbage. I understand the comics been declining, correct? GOOD, good, because this will serve as another example of Joe Q's..."genius". Right now, all I want, what everyone else wants, is for these two, Peter and Mary Jane, to get back together again, it doesn't matter if they're not married, anymore, I just want them back.

Well...actually I was saying it was obvious they had the INTENT to do so. until paper doll interrupted them. there is a blank slate between omd/bnd. they could have done so in the past.

They confirmed this?
I thought there was still speculation going on about it.
and I don't remember them showing anything about Harry's life besides his being sent to europe for rehab.

I really don't need any confirmation. I'm taking them at their word that the only thing affected was the marriage and Harry being alive. There's no reason for me to not believe that there's a l'il Normie out there....

Okay, I'm gonna complain a little more, so bear with me :)

I don't know about you (you're married right MoB?) but I personally can't stand shows/movies/friends who date off and on, over and over again. It shows immaturity, stupidity, lack of problem solving and self understanding.

I watch Grey's Anatomy with my girlfriend ( i swear that's the reason :) ) and the two main characters have broken up and got back together about 5 times. It's a giant piss off, ESPECIALLY when the reader "knows" they were/are supposed to be together.

Gah. I'm sorry for complaining, it's just those on again off again storylines are quite possibly my least favourite character trait ever. In fiction AND in real life. I hope you're wrong.

Thanks clones. :word:
I am also taking there word for it...but I still think there going to relax on what they spilled on the new status quo spread....I don't think it was well thought out...because it may cause some future problems...

Exactly...
Mj has been established as his one true love in most of the spider-man media. It becomes irritating when they play soap opera. there have already been plenty of Stories where Spidey's relationships don't work out because of him being Spidey or Peter.

we've seen it all. But now I just want good Spidey stories.
I'm pretty sure no one picks up the book thinking: hmm I wonder who Peter will date or break up with in this issue!

and I think some people misunderstand iloveclones or manofbat when it comes to BND. they just want good Spidey stories after it being crap for so long. the marriage and peters relationships are irrelevant when your looking at the whole picture.

when it comes to the quality to the book and you have to agree with them there.

I liked the marriage and if i can help bring it back I will.... but that doesn't mean I can't see both sides. :word:

I still can't believe people read Spider-man anymore. 'Is Mary Jane coming back?' Who cares? She was in the book last year in stories that had no pay-off, they just quit 'em and they were bad ideas to begin with and they've discredited themselves and taken out any illusion that there will be any great Spider-man stories ever. Who cares about some dumb generic villian when your main character is just as evil if no more so....?

Yeah, the sales diving on this thing is inevitable and on-going.

Come on man, thats a little harsh no? OMD broke my heart too, but i dont think Spiderman is now "evil". He's only human, and he made a bad decision, thats what humans do. Peter was in a very bad situation with no way out. His aunt was dying in a hospital, his identity was outed to the public, and he had the government and everybody else after him. How much longer would it have been before someone got to MJ or killed Peter in his sleep? if you were in that situation and the devil offered you a way out, i wonder if you'd be so quick to refuse him. Its Spider-man, there will be better stories on the horizon, its just that we're all still in the recovery stage of OMD.

He made about two or three 'bad' decisions. I never bought into it and it really ruined the book because they never intended to have it 'pay off'. What they've replaced it with doesn't look too sharp. They should of done that five years ago, because listening to the EIC since he got the job really gets irritating. If he hates it and wanted to do way with it he should of just done.... albeit in a better fashion.

It's me, and yes I know, I'm a pest. Still in any case, is it okay for me to post some of my dumb ideas on this topic?

Like for example, after and when Peter and Mary Jane get back together again, what do you think about the idea of Pete getting the job of a model photographer, that he works with MJ? I don't know how it works, but either this, or have him as a teacher, or papparazzi for that matter. He can still work as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle, if Jameson is back in charge again.

Well, there you have it, if you think it's dumb, then what kind of job should he get?

I always really liked Peter as a science teacher, which JMS introduced early on in his run

I really liked the aspect of JMS' run too, but I understand why it had to go.

Peter as a teacher was a brilliant idea, it's too bad that it ended prematurely there's so many more stories that they could've told from that aspect. But again, " It ages Peter too much." lol

Personally I would like to see him as some kind of scientist or working with medical research. I mean, here we have a guy that is intelligent enough to invent artificial spider-web. But it seems like the House of Recycled Ideas is stuck with this idea that Peter Parker can't have a real job, as little as he can be married. If I was a writer (and if Marvel would let me do it, which I doubt) I would make Peter realize that he perhaps can do good with his intelligence, not only his physical powers, working with trying to find cures to some deadly diseases, for example.

Coming from a family of teachers, I always thought that was the best part of JMS' run.

True, it was a logical step.
but it also took alot away from his supporting cast...they should have kept him as both a teach and photographer...

True and that was one of the biggest criticisms of JMS' run, there was no supporting cast besides aunt may and mj. No flash, no betty, no JJJ, robbie, liz, and does anybody remember Jill Stacy?? She was an interesting character that completely disappeared, but anyway I would've loved to see JMS' take on those characters.

Regardless of marriage, or what job Pete has,...spidey can have a supporting cast in any situation. It is up to the writer to make that happen.

There are lots of interesting people at all jobs, married and single.

Saying Pete can't be married or a teacher because it ages him is silly...it just makes him look like a person who works, which is most of us, i would assume. And it makes him responsible, which is what Pete's whole character is suppose to be.

Spending too much time trying to make Pete look like a kid again, going thru the same mistakes over and over makes him look dopey and irresponsible, not cool, imo. Same with having him date anyone, while his wife is out there, and he is married, except for the fact the devil magically made people forget or altered time or whatever. Doesn't change the facts.

Agreed. I mean, I love the Bugle guys, but the amount of supporting cast Pete could have at a school is mind boggingly huge.

I'm sure all of us know people who are married younger than 25, and at least I know of a bunch of my friends who are teaching around that age.

A job/marriage doesn't age him. His AGE DOES.
