Yeah, the start will frustrate me a bit the first time

He leaves the webline too soon at start, I hope I can shoot long strands and stay on them a while

So it appears that Spiderman 2 will still be the best spiderman games in terms of controls, swinging, and combat(give or take). Smh....I hope this game is good.

I definitely wouldn't say that Spider-Man 2 is the best in controls and combat. The controls in this one seems to be great and the combat in those cam vids looks much better than in SM2 (where the combat was the weak point IMO).

In term of combat this may highly beat SM2, but in other aspects yes, SM2 looks far superior

I wonder how many tons of webs did that require.

I think the game looks great, but maybe a bit too bland looking, especially when compared to the movie it's based on.

The swing system was the best, the sprint feature was cool and the slowing down of time was a nice touch. I think sm2 is a hard game to beat. But imo it seems like they need to copy and paste what was in sm2 and just build on it. Activision owns it the rights. Why is that so hard?

Focusing on other stuff and ignoring the more important things

And to think one of Bobby Kitick's (Activision CEO, if someone doesn't know) comments was "Spider-Man is about swinging...", he took the franchise away from the studio that handled swinging the best so far, and gave it to these guys :argh:

I think they should look more at the Arkham games IMO because those are much better ones if you ask me, and has game mechanics that fits Spidey like a glove much more than e.g. the combat in SM2.

But I agree that the web swinging looks much better in SM2 than here.

Yeah that was dumb. Their swing system should be a staple for these games. Just keep it the same!

Alright, I should suppress my disappointment a bit, there still is a chance of superb swinging, depending on how far Spidey is from the building and how high he shoots the line

And to be fair, I like not to start with a forced slow walk, Beenox did good there

Yeah it looks like sm2 will continue to have the best web swinging. It may make it easier to get across the map faster, but for me, actually swinging from buildings beats flying above buildings in the shape of someone swinging.
Since the webs don't hit anything, it looks like you'll always be swinging from an invisible point that's roughly always the same distance above you, meaning you'll naturally swing the exact same trajectory over and over (like shattered dimensions). Where as if the webs actually hit different buildings, you'd have constant variety in the trajectory of your swings and the length of your line (like SM2).

I'd like to see them progress to a point where the webs behave completely like real cables that are anchored to points in the environment. Just Cause 2 had an awesome mechanic for tethering people to the ceiling or the back of cars. The Ghost busters game had something similar.

Edit: I've just been playing infamous 2 and appreciating the quality. I think Suckerpunch could make a good Spidey game.

@Os.

Me too. They have the fluidity down very well. I love how Nightwing moves and flips and jumps. I have yet to see that in these demos for spiderman. Not one sommersault or flip. That's what he's known for.

For future spiderman games the following needs to be added imo:

1.Targeting web based weapons system - since they are mechanical I want to actually adjust what kind of webs I'm firing.

2.Targeting in general - I should be able to manually fire a web line or web anything anywhere I want.

3.Jumping,Flipping, Somersaulting - I have yet to see him do that in combat and in general.

4.Spiderman 2's swing system - PERIOD

5.Sprinting - idk if it's in or not but it doesn't appear to be in.

6.Momentum Builder - just like sm2.

Don't get me wrong the game hasn't come out yet and I'm sure they have some surprises or features not shown yet but I think that this game will come close but might still miss the mark slightly.

Rocksteady seems to understand Batman fully.
Beenox seems like they still haven't fully gotten him down yet.

I like the videos. I think the problem is the quick web-rush. Spider-Man flails and spins all over the place in the video because the player is trying to hit R1 when the screen prompts him, but he always hits it too late and he just web-rushes to wherever his cursor is. If we can get a video of someone from Beenox playing it, I think it'll look fine.

Also, I don't like how he swings so high above buildings. It looks really bad, but when I play, I'll probably make sure not to go that high. It just looks goofy. It's like Superman in disguise as Spider-Man, the webs are just there for show.

The rest I think looks awesome. Still pumped.

@Socool. Yeah he should swing in between the buildings or go really high but not swing on NOTHING and stay in the air. I don't get how they could have been working on this game for 2 years and still not have the basic spiderman stuff downpact. Especially since they already have two games under their belts. Smh...

Be careful guys....this game may not be what your hoping/expecting.

And that was the thing about web-rush. Even though you can called this function at will, gameplay stops and you decide where to go. I saw a guy use web-rush and the signal was literally through a building, the guy executed the move and Spidey somewhat crashed into the side. That needs to be fixed

Web of shadows still holds the title of best Web-Slinging system imo. This game is suffering from that same skydive animation we see again and again. and all his momentum is going up, not foward. It's going to take hours to traverse NYC at that speed

The Rhino fight was ok. Nothing great about it. But al least we know you get to fight him on multiple occasions.

The robot fight was pretty cool. I'm liking the slow down web rush mode cause it gives you a sense of how fast Spidey can move along with his accuracy. Notice how Spidey's suit was all tore up after that battle too. Awesome.

Spidey swinging through Manhattan and high speed pursuit

The graphics look stunning especially coming from off screen recording. The swinging looks very fun and incredibly dynamic. It's too bad that every person that is playing these demos are all over the place and can't seem to get the controls under their fingers.
