Nevermind.

:P

What's wrong with that animation?

Nothing. The problem is how often we're seeing it... thought those screens made that obvious. :funny:

Indeed it could.

But eh, the game looks fine apart from these minor nitpicks.

They are minor nitpicks, I agree. It's like Batman uses the same animations in AC too when he's using the grapnel gun. I don't remember anyone complaining about those animations. Hey, as long as the game is solid...these things are very minor indeed.

Again, we haven't played the game yet. It might be a very cool experience with the web swinging...you never really know until you get to play it for yourself. It's a different feeling when you are sitting there with the controller in hand.

I don't mind not upgrading the swinging. Since this game is taking place after the events of the movie, Spider-man has already been swinging for some time. How much better can he get at swinging?? I don't know...imo, I like having Spidey's swinging ability from the get-go. Plus we can still upgrade the web shooters, web rush ability, and the combat moves.

I think the closer camera was a good idea but I can judge by observing as well. The problem is whether or not there will be a kiosk demo for this game. I don't want to waste 60 bucks just too see it close up. And just going by the footage the swing system does not look up to par. In terms of swinging they can upgrade the speed and also add in more animations etc. Not just the same 3 over and over. Momentum builder definitely needs to be added. Imo spiderman should move very fluidly and I have yet too see any iconic poses. At least NOT like the movie does them. That move he does in the trailers of the movie where he fires a web then it hits something then he PULLS himself looks amazing.

I want to do that in the game. It's like in this game you fire a web an automatically go in that direction. It seems like you should have to pull yourself to get there or at least use gravity etc to make it happen. Imo it's too automatic. I think they need to redo the system again. They need to approach like spiderman is using cables instead of webs so that he has to attach them to something in order to be pulled in that direction.

Arkham City has that downpact. When you fire the grappel gun you FEEL it attach then it pulls you to that location. I can literally FEEL it in the controller. In current spiderman games the pull part of the web swinging is totally left out.

@Webhead. There's a difference in that though. With Batman he is not as agile as spiderman and he's just a human. That's also not batman's main source of travel either. Big difference. He has a number of ways of getting around.

Yes. But there seem to be quite a few repeated animations in this. The good FAR outweights the bad in the Arkham games. I know you're just trying to defend this game and hey, I'm still looking forward to this game too. It just seems that a lot of the comments like "I DIDN'T SEE A SINGLE ANIMATION REPEATED TWICE" were ********.

But whatever, like I said, these are only minor nitpicks.

In the comics does spiderman use the same freefall animation or does he use multiple animations? You guys already know the answer.

Voice does't sound anything like Bell's Spider-Man in those videos.

Guys, Drake Bell isn't voicing Spidey. Mike Vaughn is.

Like you say most of what you're talking about are assumptions. Just like in AC, when you watch videos of someone playing the game, you can't actually 'feel' being pulled by the grapnel gun. This may be same case, you may be able to 'feel' the dizzying effect of Spidey swinging and him pulling towards something when swinging. These are things you cannot attain by simply watching a video of someone else playing the game. Spidey has several ways of getting around too. He can wall run, crawl, and ride helicopters.

You need to watch those videos over again because I saw several iconic poses in there.

Like I said, I agree that they are minor nitpicks. And like Arkham, I'm hoping that the good outweighs the bad.

Oh and just to clear up that comment about no repeated animations...that was made by a reviewer of the demo footage when he was watching Spidey during a combat sequence, not swinging.

And yeah, like you Troy I am looking forward to this game. :woot:

The issue I'm having is that there doesn't seem like there's anything to master in this game....at least not in terms of web swinging.

In sm2 I got so good at getting around corners and building momentum. I could swing effortlessly and not break my swing.

This is a video game. There's a lot more going on here than still drawings on a comic book page. There's a limit to the memory that the console can handle and you're going to see repeated animations no matter what. Video games themselves are inherently repetitious...it's the really good games that make you not realize the repetition.

@WH

I don't care about the dizzying effect while watching it. There's more to the swinging than feeling dizzy. It's a combination of things.

My point still stands. You can't get the full effect of what the game 'feels' like just from watching a video of someone else playing the game. That goes for Arkham City too. It's a completely different experience when you have the controller in hand.

I disagree. Not all games are repetitive. Ac has so many different options it feels fresh almost every time. I have yet to feel that in current gen spidey games.

In AC I can enter a room take the guys down how I want and then redo do it again in a totally different way with different music(custom tracks) and it looks and feels just as epic as the first time. Not all games are repetitive. Spiderman's swinging does not have to be repetitive....

And I only mentioned the pulling because it seems like the spiderman games leave out the PULL of the web. In the movie they acknowledge it. He fires,PULLS,then swings. Or he gets pulls. I'm not talking about the feel. I'm talking about the mechanics of the swinging itself.

Um, yeah, they are.

I will give you this one but that's what makes AC so special.

In AC I can enter a room take the guys down how I want and then redo do it again in a totally different way with different music(custom tracks) and it looks and feels just as epic as the first time.

You can do the exact same thing in this game. You can enter a room and do silent takedowns or do straightahead combat and then redo the level and approach it differently.

I'm not sure about the custom tracks but it may be an option. As much as this game is borrowing from AC, I wouldn't be surprised if this was in there as well.

Spiderman's swinging does not have to be repetitive....

Who said it was? Again, you're making an assumption off someone else playing the game. Wait til you play the game before making judgement.

In your quote a few posts ago you made it clear you were talking about actually feeling the grapnel gun attach and feel Bats move to the location. You even capatilized the word 'feel.'

When you fire the grappel gun you FEEL it attach then it pulls you to that location. I can literally FEEL it in the controller
