I disagree. Not all games are repetitive. Ac has so many different options it feels fresh almost every time. I have yet to feel that in this current gen spidey games.

In AC I can enter a room take the guys down how I want and then redo do it again in a totally different way with different music(custom tracks) and it looks and feels just as epic as the first time. Not all games are repetitive. Spiderman's swinging does not have to be repetitive....
You actually choose the worst example you could have picked, as it is the most repetitive mechanic of the Arkham series.
The mechanics are exactly the same each time you enter a stealth room in AC. Not only that, they always have the same style rooms: 3 or 4 "gargoyles" (or lamps, or just random structures that don't have any use), 4 guys with guns, 2 unarmed, maybe one with an inhibitor. The way to eliminate them is ALWAYS THE SAME. Yeah, it's a lot of fun, but that doesn't eliminates the fact that it is the same thing over and over.

But that happens with ALL the games. Max Payne is about running and shooting, FIFA is about scoring goals, Tony Hawk is about doing flips and grabs, Pacman is about eating dots, and a large etcetera. In a Spiderman game, the goal is to swing and fight enemies. End. This has always been like this, and will never change.

In this case, the swinging looks pretty good to me, and I think it takes care of the pull a lot more than other Spidey games, and it has a lot of momentum swinging, and a sensation of speed never seen in a Spidey game. The swinging looks like an upgraded version of Web of Shadows which is my favourite swinging game (much more fast and slick than SM2), and if you chain it with the Web-Rush it has to be amazing. I mean, the guy who plays doesn't know a ****, but from something he tries to do, it can be incredibly complex.

Really, some of you talk about SM2 like it was perfect, but I'm sure that if some of you play it know will be disappointed by the stiffness of the swinging, because it was VERY stiff (not as SM3, but...). It was amazing by the time it came out, but Ultimate Spider-Man already surpassed it on that aspect.

Does anyone notice a tiny white crosshair in the middle while he's swinging? What's that about? I hope that doesn't stay there forever and you can turn it off.

I think that's only for when you're aiming for a certain area to web rush to.

look i like batman and AC is a good game but gosh damn ppl stop riding its junk already...u act like the game is 100% perfect and has no flaws and u are trying to compare it to a game you haven't actually played for yourselves yet and have only seen SOME footage of.....

Disagree totally. How can you say how it is for me when I play? I make it different by what moves I decide to use, what music, and how I can try out new things each time.

And Ultimate Spiderman's web system was crap compared to SM2. Someone's been sniffing the web fluid a little too much.

@Wh.
I meant FEEL in terms of the pull aspect. That is an issue for me as well but that's not what I'm talking about. Spidey to fire a web line, have it attach, pull, then go.

No game is 100% nor is any game flawless, but AC is pretty damn close. It's not "riding its junk" when saying that as it's the truth.

K. it better be Josh Keaton voicing Spidey. I think he is seriously trolling me right now.

I asked him if he knew who it was and i said i hope it's not Drake Bell so he responds:

I'm pretty sure it's Drake Bell in the game but you didn't hear it from me

it'd be a cruel joke, but it'd be nice if he was just pulling my leg.

Lol, we've seen quite a bit of the game actually. More than enough to have a good idea on how the game plays.

I said this before, while it doesn't look Arkham-tier or like THE Spidey game we've all been waiting for, it's a step in the right direction.

I think they overdid Spidey's acrobatic moves in the game. It does look like he's just flailing his limbs after a while.

But I'm reserving my final judgement for when I'm actually playing the game.

So far though, apart from a few minor nitpicks, it looks good. Far better than WoS and EoT.

I don't know how do you play an AC stealth mission, but what I can tell you is that a gamepad has 16 buttons. Batman is not going to do more than those 16 buttons let him to. And even Batman only really needs the Triangle button (Y on Xbox) to do his stealth takedowns, you can argue me that you may use your gadgets, but at the end, you have to do those takedowns. As I said earlier, this happens with EVERY SINGLE GAME.

This is the same as all the games, only games like Heavy Rain tried to break this with context movements. But try to make a sandbox game with context sensitive actions, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to play.

And no, USM swinging was better, much more fluid and fancy than the SM2 swing. That's a fact. The only thing I think it got worse was the nonexistence of the charged jump. That's my only grip, and the thing I loved the most from SM2.

I don't have web fluid to sniff, sorry, maybe you can give me some.

i wouldn't even say its close..... i'd say it's just the SM2 of batman games....the first game in a super hero series that delivers but of course becuase of that people over react and act like its the greatest thing ever of all time and completely ignore alot of the problems .

one main thing that always bugged me were the thugs...seriously EVERY sngle thug is completely ripped like a WWE wrestler and almost always have the exact same animation when the are knocked unconscious: gripping their heads when clearly the final blow was to their face or jaw or arm or chest

As I said, not every game is flawless. The build of every thug is a complaint, but I don't think Rocksteady can do any better. That's just the look they can build on. Perhaps they can change that in the next game, who knows. Although...to call it the S-M 2 of Batman games is a slap to the face. The Arkham games are WAY better than a tie-in game. That's not giving the Arkham games any credit.

Agreed.

Yah, Keaton is messing with you.

I hope he is messing with me about not voicing Spidey as well. i mean the clip sounds waaaay too much like him.

i know we are gonna find out at E3 anyway but i want closure NOW

if someone can participate in demos at Hardee's and Carl's Jr. and let us know that'd be great.

like if someone plays the demo and REALLY pays attention to how spidey sounds

Lol it's a FACT in your eyes. Most fans think otherwise. And no you DON'T have to use takedowns every time. Dude are you playing the same game? Spidey Noir had us using takedowns most of the time and they weren't even that great. AC gives us many options to use in combat and many ways of dealing with bad guys. It's alot more free with it's system. Hence the FREEFLOW aspect of the game. AC is alot deeper once you learn how to play it. Spidey games have not gotten to that level yet. Which is why us fans make suggestions to make them better. This game is not going to be the definitive spiderman title. At least not in my imo.

No, not THAT many defend the SM2 swinging system apart for the fact that it was the first free-roaming Spidey game (awesome, as I said earlier, but for it's age. It has aged badly, and not about the graphics, I'm talking about the combat and movement mechanics).

And believe me, as a guy with the platinum in AA and AC I can tell you that the stealth missions are always the same. Same room structure, same enemies pattern. Yeah, you can go down there and go in a punch fight to one of the guys, but it's suicide when someone else sees you. You can use your gadgets of course, but at the end it's all about the takedowns (inverted, from behind, between two guys... Whatever. Takedowns).

And yeah, the freeflow combat of Arkham is incredible. Probably one of the best fighting systems of a beat em' up. But the freeflow is not in the stealth zones, which are the ones we are talking about. And, albeit I think the combat system from Shattered Dimensions is almost like freeflow but without the counter button, I'm with you that Spidey games hasn't reached that level of combat greatness.

But, for what we have seen from TASM combat (like 15 seconds), it looks like freeflow, has the same controller scheme as freeflow, and people who played say that it's like freeflow. We can't criticize a combat system with only 15 secs of footage, clearly, neither we can do it from the swinging, especially when you give the controller to some random guy who never played the game before.

Please, no one started playing Arkham Asylum with 40x combos...

Who's they?

alot of those reviewers and many others.

reviews don't make the game.

i'm sure there are games u enjoy yet weren't reviewed as well as you felt they should have

bottom line is i'm not saying AC is a bad game and i'm not saying it isn't a great game, i'm just saying it's not as good as SOOOOOOO many ppl hype it up to be

Well thats just your opinion. I like spiderman way more than batman, but the Arkham series are some of the best games I have ever played and I cant wait for the 3rd one.

I'm REALLY trying hard to pin-point who is doing the voice acting for Spider-Man. At times it sounds like Keaton. However, when watching the Rhino gameplay video, when Spider-Man delivers the line "Oh, I guess you don't like webbing do you!?" It sounds like Christopher Daniel Barnes.

I'm content with either choice. As long as it isn't Drake Bell. haha

I'm hoping more for Barnes though but I doubt it.

Maybe... it's both O.o
