I don't think the complaint is that it wasn't done in the comics.
I think it was over how we didn't feel like spiderman with all this over-exaggerated attacks O.e
Indeed. And Spidey doing that stuff is still pretty rare in the comics, so it's not like giant web weapons should be a part of his main combat.
I would say that attacks like the giant web sack would be a nice extra, (and when he rips the ground with his web there should actually be a hole on the ground) but if it wouldn't be used as one of the main attacks we could have something way better instead! Like more spidey agility stuff and so called "proper web use" (more stuff with web yanks, web strikes and more creative ways to web bad guys like webbing bad guys to walls, streetlights)
