Indeed.

Though, I understand why some people would not like to use the new costume. I like the costume really much, but in a way it's kinda an insult to many fans. The movies should have the essence of spidey. I know, you could say that it's acceptable because there's so many different costumes in the comics, but this is different. It's harder to make the costume different in the comics, that's why the new designs are so radically different. But when it comes to a live action costume, with minor tweaks you could still make it look totally new & fresh while at the same time being really respective to the original design

So, while I myself like the costume, I think they shouldn't have done it. With just the different costume they lost the interest of many fans and general audience. The second trailer kinda saved the situation, but not completely. Trust me, if the costume would be more like the classic costume, the movie would be so much more hyped and popular.

The new suit: some people think it's awesome, some people think it sucks, classic suit: Most people would've thought it was great and the rest would've thought it was okay. In a business perspective, was the new design worth it?
its not that serious at all. The suit isn't nearly as bad as SR.
I love the new suit, silver rimmed nikes and all. That decision to add the nikes makes the suit and character grounded.

Man. Can you imagine that though? A free-roaming Spider-Man game with tons of different Spider-Man outfits to swing around in....it would be awesome.

[BLACKOUT]And I won't count Web of Shadows, because that game only had alternate costumes for the Wii version, and there weren't many to choose from anyway.[/BLACKOUT]

EDIT: Although I'm pretty certain that I'd spend most of my time wearing the TASM costume, because I love the design so much.
Count Ultimate Spider-Man, that one has 5 alternate suits

That trailer that came out yesterday wasn't it right?

The trailer that came out yesterday is pretty much the exact same trailer we got in December.

Count Ultimate Spider-Man, that one has 5 alternate suits
Yes but that's not necessarily what I mean. In USM you had civilian clothes, the black suit, the wrestling suit, and that weird Arachnoman suit. What I mean is more like the suits they had in Edge of Time, where there were so many to choose from and they were all from different eras and series'.

The game looks good, but since Beenox is doing it and SD was good and EOT was alright, I'm sure it will be fun.

Obviously, the suit really hurts it. I just hope they have alternate suits like in their previous two, because I'll play as Amazing Bag-Man before I run around in that abomination. :o

Tss there's one thing having an opinion but that is just ridiculous. You're just butt hurt

"Hey guys! We promised you an all-new reveal for this week, but unfortunately you will have to wait a little longer! We will let you know as soon as possible the new reveal date…" - From the official TASM game page.

Told you it wasn't the damn movie viral.

Or the screens...

Or the trailer which we've already seen. lol

What? I hate it when promised reveals are denied
Then indulge yourselves with this beauty for now

I don't know about you guys, but after being spoiled with wall fights and some aerial combat (wanted it for years before it actually happened) I don't want them to return to making combat strictly grounded like the case in USM and the PS1 games

I don't care if the combat is grounded, although I'd like some aerial stuff and wall stuff too, but the main thing is that the combat is realistic. I don't want to see cartoony 50 hit combos on a human enemy with giant web fists and sparks flying and glowing everytime I land a blow. No thank you. I'd much rather see some combat in the same vein as AC. They probably won't duplicate the exact same system but I would want the smoothness, acrobatic style of combat and realism of taking human thugs or guards out in just a few hits.

I really hope this 'delay' in the reveal has nothing to do with the fact that Bennox released the beta last week, probably to IGN amongst others, and got feedback stating something like, "Uh, hey Beenox crew...yeah, this is Greg over at IGN...Yup, I got the Beta...yeah, so, how do I put this...Umm...sorry guys but it sucks big time." And now Activision is doing damage control. I so very much hope this is not the case.

Oh. I'm sorry I don't like the costume. :( I take what I said back, all is okay now! :)

Please. I was exaggerating. But I'm partially being truthful. The new suit will take away from the game a bit due to its stupidity. Sorry, just the way I feel. Can't help that, now can I? Unless you want me to lie to myself.

I don't get the outcry with the new suit, honestly. TDK's Batman costume is far more of a bastardization of the original design than TASM's is of Spider-Man's... and yet... people act as though he's running around in pink spandex or something. O.o

Whelp, really? Of course Batman's suit is radically different from the original. You want him to run around in grey and blue spandex? Or black, practically camouflage-in-the-darkness armor? Which by the way is way more believable and realistic for what he's doing in Gotham.
Batman's new suit in TDK is not perfect, and not my favorite, but I like it quite a bit.

This is the biggest difference and reason why fans and audiences like Batman's suit, and aren't so welcoming to Spidey's new one:
Because Batman doesn't look like a cheap, stupid toy. He doesn't look goofy running around, he looks badass and heroic. Spider-Man now looks silly. It's not just my eyes, this is what a lot of people are thinking. That's why there is such a backlash on the new suit.

Batman=Good adaptation with changes and additions that fit the story (less bulky, thinner and more flexible neck, more gaps between the armor for better agility)

Spider-Man=Less faithful adaptation with additions (metal shoes, red stripes on legs, yellow eyes) that really make no sense other than to change it up from Raimi's series

When I hear a reasonable explanation for all the things they added, I'll at least give it that. But either way, to me and many others it comes off as stupid looking regardless of their reasoning for it.

Backlash on the internet. It comes off as petty whining after a while. A few more changes and the moaning would be justified, but as of right now, it's coming off as petty whining.

He's wearing shoes... and the edges of them are visible? OH MY ****ING GOD THEY RUINED THE SUIT.

His suit has a web pattern made of straight lines instead of curved lines? OH MY ****ING GOD THEY RUINED THE SUIT.

He has a red stripe connecting his boots to his belt, similar to how his gloves connect to the suit torso? OH MY ****ING GOD THEY RUINED THE SUIT.

He has yellow eyes... which make him look more bug-like? OH MY ****ING GOD THEY RUINED THE SUIT.

I do agree that it is a matter of preference, but I really don't see why people have a burning hatred for this suit. None of the changes are drastic, imo.

Webb's interpretation is good for overall grounded vibe that he's going for.

Realistic combat in spidey world has him pilling people when he's sticking to walls and kicks them off, I want something like that applied here

Fair enough

The lesser the needed hits the better, it's a freaking super human to play with bashing thugs, wonder why some demand to have thugs more than mere punching meat bugs fainting after little amount of attacks

I will never take Greg Miller seriously when it comes to Spider-Man games, or anyone who thinks the extremely repetitive thing is awesome after complaining about repetition in an earlier game with just as much repetition (SD vs WoS), even if I think they both suck

I think I read on TASM page that the combat is more realistic. It was in an answer to a fan question... I think.

And I'm glad. No more glowing attacks that look like they belong in a Street Fighter game. And no more web constructs... leave making fists out of nowhere and whatnot to Green Lantern.

I agree with you here Troy. I like the suit enough that the game will not be ruined by the design, unlike others have suggested. It's an interpretation. That's it. People are picky when it comes to their favorite characters...I understand that, but it's not like you can't tell that it's Spider-man. For those that are worried about having to play the game with the movie suit only...I'd say hang in there. I realize there are licensing issues at work here but this is Beenox and they are well known for instituting a plethora of alt costumes in their games. I venture to guess there will be something available over the PS store or Xbox Live and you can purchase additional skins...much like with AC.

Fan Question #3 answered by Rodolphe, our Lead Game Designer. Josh C. Hoeck asked if the combat system would be different from our previous games.

Hi Josh! Yes, the combat system has been fully redesigned to give the player a much deeper and more realistic experience than previous Spider-Man games. We’ve put all our efforts into avoiding the button mashing syndrome. We are also integrating the new Web Rush gameplay mechanic that will allow the player to execute acrobatic and combat combinations like never before. Are you ready to experience what it’s truly like to have Spider-Man’s powers? :)
I kind want some extreme stuff like building a web boat as he did in the 60s cartoon, lol

Ok. Noob question time. Can someone explain to me how to break up someone's post line for line like Aziz did with mine in this reply?? I don't see an icon to choose to make this happen or maybe I'm missing it. Either way I'm feeling rather dumb :csad:

Separate them [/quote] by

At least something by water, not for fight, good for some laughs for a while, and beats travelling by swimming

Sure I guess. I mean, as long as they nail all the really important stuff like combat, web swinging, the story, side missions, etc. and they have time to f_ck around and make stuff like a web boat...I'd be ok with that. If they have the boat and fail at the other important stuff...that's a no-no.

Like this??

Got it :woot:
Well done

Agreed. As you said, it's a 'backlash' on the internet. The general audience simply put no time into these nitpicks that people on here do. In all honesty friends and people I talk to, or show the trailer to, say nothing at all about the suit. They will just comment on if they'd see it, and they all want to. Seriously, this suit is recognisable as Spider-Man and people carry on as if he isn't, as if he wearing fluro green instead. Comic book films change suits all the time, and when the series rebooted a change was to be expected. And the changes do differentiate but they're not drastic overhauls.
