Agreed. As you said, it's a 'backlash' on the internet. The general audience simply put no time into these nitpicks that people on here do. In all honesty friends and people I talk to, or show the trailer to, say nothing at all about the suit. They will just comment on if they'd see it, and they all want to. Seriously, this suit is recognisable as Spider-Man and people carry on as if he isn't, as if he wearing fluro green instead. Comic book films change suits all the time, and when the series rebooted a change was to be expected. And the changes do differentiate but they're not drastic overhauls.
My family and friends that have seen the trailers have yet to make any sort of a remark about the change in the suit design. It is still very easy to recognize him as Spider-man. Most of the comments I got were of this sort:
"Where's Tobey?"
"Why is MJ's hair blonde"
--Don't worry...I cleared these up with everyone. They get it now
t:"Whoa! The Lizard! He looks crazy!"
"Damn. This movie looks awesome."

on their face.


especially coming from someone who complains about this movie in each thread.
