I have had WoS freeze on me several times. I dunno about you guys but when I buy TASM, I am trading WoS back in.
It's wonderous you didn't trade it long ago

geez i never knew so many ppl had glitch issues. i've never had these problems. and WoS is prob one of if not my fav free roaming spidey game. mainly for the gameplay and music, not so much the voice acting or story
Gameplay (extreme repetitiveness) and music turned me off the most

The odd glitch now and then is fun, yes. But it's nothing that should be common in almost every playthrough. I'm not paying to play a half-assed attempt of a "game".
they shouldn't, but if they're harmless I don't see a reason to be bugged about it
You've mentioned quite a few times that you enjoy Spider-Man 3 because it's got funny glitches, iirc, you've posted screens of said glitches.
That is one reason, it adds to the game value imo since they are harmless and don't interfere with missions or do something damaging to the computer, plus its gameplay is creative and allows player to use imagination, playing is pretty true to Parker's personality, cool boss fights, etc..
That's cool and all, but see it from the perspective of somebody who's paying for the game. Hell, somebody who pre-ordered it and bought it full price.

Wouldn't you be pissed off if the game you spent £45/$45/whatever was full of glitches, screen tearing, framedrops, freezes, etc?
I paid full price for SM3 ($50 for PC disc back in July 2007), which is a very rare thing, but I did

Things i loved about Web of shadows:

Combat: Best combat I've experienced in a 3rd person game ever. VERY satisfying for me, especially as a Spidey fan

Web Swinging: EPIC. simply Epic, once u learn how to work it you can go very fast and pull off some really cool/flashy movies

Animations on Spidey: AWESOME. spidey moves very fluidly and very acrobatic. Does alot of jumps and flips, and somersaults. Honestly the most I ever actually felt like Spidey in a game thus far. Love how u can horizontally flip on poles this time around.

sticking to walls in sitting position

how when the webs do stick to objects they stick to very specific spots, for example if i use web zip instead of just going to a building the webline will attach to a street pole or a newspaper stand or even an enemy sometimes

graphics are pretty cool too. like a realistic approach to the 3D comic book inking tech used in USM

Most glitches are harmless, but annoying. So you're telling me you're okay with that? Sorry, but I don't agree with you at all. Would you be okay watching a movie with effects that are inconsistent in quality? Or visible equipment such as mics, cameras in the corners of the screen?

Again, I simply can't agree with you. A game should not be applauded for having value because it's buggy as **** because the people being paid to make it did a **** job. And, regardless of whether or not I'm paying a bargain price, or full price, I want a product that is consistent in quality and not ridden with glitches. I'm shocked that you're okay with that, but okay.

Nice. I got the PS2 version and found out it was a piece of ****. I bought the PC version, had quite a bit of fun. Never finished it though.

Movies are something else
Almost all of the glitches happened to me out of missions, and I finished that game 35 times, glitches occurring are quite rare considered how many times I faced glitches while playing

They were working toward something cool and great, it had the potential to be better as a polished game, it would decrease the entertainment a tad bit imo, but I'd still play it as much as I did

I was entertained by the PS2 version of this more than I did WoS :awesome:. If it they copied moves and the city from SM2 and added some changes that game would have met notably more acceptance
As for the PC version, there are times I feel it fits the PC a lot more than it does home consoles
I can send a copy of a save file to you if you care to play it again, full health and reflexes after tutorial, no plots used

I turned my brain off when I played Web of Shadows...too many plot holes for me to even think about, lol. It can be a fun game when you don't think too much about it; I'll give WoS that credit. A few moments when I did play it, I just thought "screw the storyline" and just started to swing around the city.

Yeah, totally. I have every Spidey game in my collection since the PS1. I'm not sure why since I haven't played many of them in such a long time but anyway, yeah, it's time to let WoS go. The only real aspect I found worthy is the web swinging and I would occasionally pop it in and go for a swing cause I was ya know, missing it, due to level based games SD and EoT. But now, TASM is coming out and I probably won't need WoS for swinging anymore...so it's...Na na na naaaaa....na na na naaaaa...hey, hey, heyyyyy....goodbye! :woot:

I agree with most of your points and I only really disagree with the combat. Too repetitive and boring to me. But like I said in my post above, I only really ever use WoS for the swinging, and with TASM coming out, we have a return to free roam and good swinging.

Agreed. I wish I still had SM2 and SM3 :(

I don't know if someone mentioned this before, but with this plot, does it mean we will be seeing this in the future:

Thanks for the link!

All this talk about Web of Shadows gave me the desire to type the story of it just for laughs and giggles, so ready your eyes and minds, I'll type in the plot in details with some commentary for the blast of it

*PROLOGUE:

Starts in city invaded by symbiotes, Spider-Man is walking on top of a building sulking, and a war is around him, a hellipad falls so close to him but the sucker doesn't phase, then he jumps, moves, and fight symbiotes. On the way he saves a S.H.I.E.L.D agent and ignores the other guy, screams for MJ, takes the guy to other S.H.I.E.L.D agents for treatment, and he asks them screamingly about MJ, saying her initials and screaming her description, the agents don't know what he's talking about, so he moves away and fights more symbiotes

A car comes near him in a war zone, not a safe zone, he goes for MJ after she and Cage leave the car, MJ and Cage talk pissed at Spidey, and Spidey promises MJ something, but she's so mad and say he's way beyond promises. Suddenly, a girl comes with a symbiote on her, blackout, flashback

There are some comments and mocks to come about this when I reach later chapters after the invasion, like how he promised MJ and she accepted, so what teh foch is he promising her for? We know Spidey is meant to have a secret identity in this game story

Chapter One:

:Black screen ends: Venom steps on Spidey's face, then lefts him up and speak of hunger, but what is that happening? Symbiote particles suddenly move on Spidey and he is in all >purple< symbiote >gasp< saying "Get ready for a world of pain Venom". The two fight, the fight comes to an end and spidey peels the symbiote off revealing his red and blue as MJ says "Peter", he hears a sound, turns around to see Venom vanished, and turns back to MJ, he goes to her and have a chat, she's carried by paramedics, they see and hear her give Spider-Man a gift and telling him "Peter, Happy Birthday". How did that happen? Is this post "Marvel Comics Civil War" and Spidey unmasked himself in public that she doesn't care about his secret identity? We were told it was meant to be a Marel fan service

Play, go to the hospital, paramedic tells Spidey to deal with the gangs who decided to make the hospital zone their war front, (ahh yes, how nice, Spider-Man took the first order in this game directed at him), and thinks how MJ would want him to stop the gangs and be reponsible, he fights, members fall. More members come from both gangs, enter Luke Cage, they fight together, then Spidey heads to Cage to get orders from him, and start the game of the Spider-Puppet

>Chapter Ends<

Chapter Two:

Spider-Man cleans the streets of Harlem a little as Cage orders him to, then he goes to him to be informed about an informer working for Cage, he needs to find and save that informer, and he does. Spidey must return to take more orders from Cage

>Chapter Ends<

To Be Continued.............

Thanks for the link! This game is looking better and better!

I wonder if spidey can preform multiple stealth takedowns with his webs. I mean it seems like an obvious manuever, right? Beenox or activision haven't said anything yet though....

First Person View
Other than that the game sounds pretty promising

The first person view is optional. When you hold the Web rush button down it then enters the first person view and also slows down time. You can see all the highlighted areas that you can web rush to and have the time to make a decision on where to go. Once you gain experience using the web rush, you don't have to use the slow down effect and can simply 'tap' the web rush button.

The funny part is that someone actually read that story in a meeting somewhere and said, "that sounds like a winner. Print!"

Haha! Idiots.

I'm confused. I thought a lot of people wanted an optional first-person mode when the game was announced. I know I wasn't the only one that thought a first-person mode would be awesome after seeing the POV sequence in the teaser.
