AMC orders 'Preacher' pilot.

If this would have been made 10 years ago, I would have loved Timothy Olyphant for Jesse.

Which comic were you reading? Huston could totally play Jesse Custer.

Looks like a Jesse Custer to me.

You know, the Garth Ennis one.............

Huston's face just doesn't look like Jesse the way he's drawn in the comics, sorry to burst someone's bubble here. Having seen Huston in something other than Boardwalk Empire, with for example American Hustle & Kill Your Darlings, he just doesn't fit the role anyway, or at least not the way I see it.

Timothy Olyphant would be a good pick indeed although he doesn't really look like the character either, but he'd certainly be a better fit.

I have no doubt Rogen & Goldberg are going to bust their a** to find the perfect actors for Jesse & Cassidy, it sure ain't gonna be easy to find actors who look like the characters & can pull them off.

About the news on the show, just a few months ago, Collider had an interview with Goldberg & Rogen where they both talked about the show & them directing the pilot, it is happening.

So you want someone who looks like Steve Dillon's drawings? It's not going to be an animated show, so you might be looking for a long time...like, forever.

As to whether or not Huston has the acting chops to pull it off, I think we'd actually have to see him in the role before anyone decides that. Some years back no one thought Heath Ledger could do a decent Joker.

No one thought that Nicolas Cage would make a good Ghost Rider :o

Haven't been following this show at all before now, but I'm curious...

Has anyone complained about Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg writing this? I mean, they're awesome guys and all, but my brief research doesn't indicate that this is supposed to be a comedy series. Also, the last time Rogen and Goldberg worked on a comic/superhero-based property (also as exec producers, also with Neal Moritz's name in the credits), we got The Green Hornet. Has that been debated around here yet, or am I the only one who noticed that?

...It's just me, isn't it?

Seth Rogen definitely seems like a fan of the series and Preacher does have a fair share of dark, twisted humor in it so I am not too worried about him being involved. I am still worried about how it will translate onto a network like AMC though...we shall see. Can't wait until we actually start seeing some casting, photos, and footage to get a better handle on the direction they are going with it.

AMC, I need this NOW!!! :argh:

Got really excited when I saw this bumped.
Thought there was news.

White pants, black jacket, Jesse Custer footage!

Still might be a little early considering they just started writing and everything in July. But I would imagine we should start hearing cast announcements before the end of the year.

Yeah, they need to actually get a pilot order first. Then find someone to direct it, then cast.

Seth Rogen offered Duncan Jones and Rian Johnson to direct some episodes of Preacher on Twitter. It was a tongue-in-cheek conversation, but still. And it seems Goldberg and Rogen are still working on writing the pilot script.
