AMC orders 'Preacher' pilot.

She can look almost racially ambiguous depending on how she's made up since she's mixed race herself, so they can make her look however they want. Hopefully that might quiet some of the complainers.

I Googled her and found out she and Dominic Cooper (who is rumored for Jesse) are/were together IRL.

What the ****? I love Ruth Negga! I can't be nerdraged about this!

How could they take that away from me? I'll get you for this, Rogen. :cmad:

Rogen went head to head with North Korea and came out on top. He's ascended to a higher level at this point. You won't get him. You never will.

I love Ruth Negga as much as the next guy, but I still find that change to Tulip's character too disagreeable. But even that concern now pales in comparison to the general description of the character itself:

"Tulip is described as a volatile, action-packed, sexified force of nature, a capable, unrepentant criminal with a love of fashion and ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine who’s not afraid to steal, kill or corn cob-stab her way out of a bad situation."
Sounds like more INO that even the FF reboot, which is saying something.

That quote certainly doesn't sound promising, but I'm not going to judge this thing until I at least see a trailer. Worst comes to worst, I just won't watch it.

They're changing her race for the sake of doing it. It's self serving because they want to push an interracial leading couple in it so they can target as many different people as possible for viewership. If you want to write original material with a diverse cast that's one thing but you're working with source material here. Stick to it.

She had a bit of the badass about her in the books so I'm hoping the character description is just some extra flowery writing to sell her as such. I'm not expecting 100% fidelity here anyway (if TWD is any indication) and they might be planning to amp up the action a bit. Time will tell.

0% of that describes the actual Tulip. The action element alone is all sorts of wrong, completely omitting her quintessential trait in place of a foreign one.

Well excuse the **** out of me. I haven't read the book in over a decade.

I apologize if it seems like I'm getting on your case. I was willing to let the racial component slide if they'll at least get the gist of the character right, but it seems like they're going to reinvent even that.

Like Ruth Negga, hate that description of Tulip. Sounds nothing like her. :(

The sad thing is that, race notwithstanding, Ruth Negga would've probably rocked the original Tulip. Nu Tulip is a complete disservice to her talents.

A lot can change between now and the pilot. That quote could be just fluff to excite people, it doesn't necessarily mean the Tulip described is the Tulip we'll end up with. I know Fandom isn't a big on the 'wait and see' approach, but I still like to encourage it.

Potential Jesse and Tulip

Cooper thought that outfit sensible for a date? Christ I dress myself better than that.

Casting a real life couple as Jesse and Tulip will probably add to the chemistry. Cooper & Negga are both in the upcoming Warcraft film and did some West End plays together as well.

I hope they cast Ruth Negga's former Misfits and Love/Hate co-star Robert Sheenan as vampire Cassidy.

I think Patrick Stewart might make a good Herr Starr

Actually the majority of it does except for the unrepentant killer that loves fashion. Tulip botched her first hit when she ran into Cassidy for the first time. And she's a tomboy with no fashion sense.

The rest of it was pretty spot on. She was damaged goods when Jessie left her high and dry in Arizona the first time.

The "ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine" is a new one to me.
