AMC orders 'Preacher' pilot.

Casting a real life couple as Jesse and Tulip will probably add to the chemistry. Cooper & Negga are both in the upcoming Warcraft film and did some West End plays together as well.

I hope they cast Ruth Negga's former Misfits and Love/Hate co-star Robert Sheenan as vampire Cassidy.

I think Patrick Stewart might make a good Herr Starr

I take it she was in the later seasons since BBCAmerica always pull the old "show only two seasons of it and then dump it" method and they only showed the early seasons with the original line-up.

Which does account for why I'm not familar with Negga

‘Preacher’ AMC Pilot Casts Its Arseface

AMC’s Preacher adaptation has cast another character from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult comic. Young actor Ian Colletti (Fox’s Rake) has joined the drama pilot, from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The project, from Sony TV and AMC Studios, is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God. Colletti plays Eugene Root aka Arseface. Even with his horribly disfigured face and severe speech impediment, Eugene’s still the nicest kid you’ll ever meet who really looks up to Jesse. Stomach-churningly difficult to look at, Eugene’s the town’s reviled Frankenstein’s monster but that won’t change his earnest, sweet and pure outlook on life. However, he is troubled by something terrible he’s done in the past — something he fears may have turned God himself against him.

Colletti, repped by CESD and Authentic Management, is the second actor cast in Preacher, joining Negga. His credits include the title role in the indie Jimmy.

Two actors in under a day. I'm pumped.

Anyone patient enough to sit in the makeup chair for a good while can play Arseface.

She was in Season 2 as teleporter Nikki. Nathan pooped in her bed and she dated Curtis.

The "ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine" is a new one to me.

Tulip in the comics was a gun expert. Her father taught her everything to know about dismantling, cleaning, aiming and shooting. They're probably adding this so she's more than a girl that can just shoot really well.

The coffee can bazooka is specifically pulled from a scene in the pilots script that was released. It seems to be something she does to get herself out of a pinch.

I know her background with guns. IMO all these tacked on skills take away from her original skillset (they're not even bothering to mention it in her character description), and twists the character into something different altogether.

This is still a bit early to think they completely changed her character.

Well until she shows up with a mullet and tan vest, I'm not going to immediately assume that they're making her into MacGyver.

So, Arseface is going to be in this one. Great. Must remember not to eat before, during and after each episode he's in.

I wonder how much they are going to expand his role? In the books he's really only in it for the initial arc, then came back a couple years into the book and had a follow up story or two later on as things wound down. Maybe when Sheriff Root gets his comeuppance, Jesse feels bad and takes him under his wing.

I read the books recently and I thought, if AMC wants to tone down some parts of it in order to appeal to a broader audience, his part could be left out and have no real impact in the larger picture. Yet, he is cast even before Jesse. I hope they don't think they are doing a "fan service" and have him stick around for an expanded role. But that's just me - nothing frightens me more than a deformed human body/face.

I wonder if the MCU fanboys/fangirls are gonna throw a ***** fit about Howard Stark possibly being cast in a DC property even tho this isn't technically DC. :o

Good choice. Not sure if he will be Irish or use his own strong Lancashire accent

That choice makes me so happy, I hope he keeps it Irish though.

He certainly got the Cassidy look to him. Outside of Cooper, I don't know any of these people and I kind of like it like that.

I've never read the comics but my friend is a big fan of it and most things he likes I like so I am definitely looking forward to it. AMC has some great shows and I'm hoping this will be one of them.

Not this one. That would be a really stupid thing to get angry over.

Of course conjuring up goofy hypothetical situations so one can take pointless jabs at people who like different funnybooks is a bit weird itself.
