An absolutely epic marijuana rant

It's been my experience that people who are against the legalization of pot are people who haven't tried it and/or believe that all laws are made with sound reason and should be followed. My dad, for instance, is a great example of this. He used to be a heavy drinker and huge smoker, but he never once tried pot. He doesn't smoke or drink now, but he's violently against pot. His reason? "It's illegal for a reason."

There's really no valid reason not to legalize it. I've been high off my ass, but it never came close to obscuring my frame of mind like alcohol has.

The best way to go after those substances would be to do what was done with tobacco-make it socially unacceptable to use it. But you get rid of those, people will just find some other way to alter their minds because a certain percentage of people have the desire to do that. It's why the war on drugs is impossible to win-stopping demand is harder than stopping supply. Only treatment helps with drug and alcohol addictions, and even then it's very limited. People are just going to get high, especially in these times when so many people feel they have no future and no hope.

Oh I completely agree Bamfer.

My parents are very traditional. My father is a heavy drinker. Even though I'm 27, he'd probably whoop my *** if he ever thought I'd smoked pot.

Yet I can hear him throwing his guts up after a night out on the drink.

Pot's never made me feel wretched. Alchohol has.

That's too bad, though, your dad being a heavy drinker and, ultmately, a bit of a hypocrite. But I guess all parents are hypocrites. My parents both found out my senior year in high school that I was smoking pot. Mom, away from dad, told me that she thought it wouldn't be a big issue if I grew it myself so I wasn't smoking something that could easily have been tainted. She, as you can guess, toked a few times in college, haha. My father, on the other hand, was furious. He made it clear that he never wanted me to ever do it again. Apparently I wasn't a very good listener. :o

I've never tried pot and probably never will. But I really couldn't care less if they legalized it or not.

Well, you're an exception! And I told myself I'd never smoke pot. Ever. Then I did. And then I told myself I'll smoke pot every chance I get. :o

His creepy-no-face-high-contrast-hoodie look totally harshens my mellow, though.

I think it's ok for leading an underground revolution. I don't like when he plays with different contrasts in the background though.

Eh, if people want to ruin their life with marijuana, they should let them. They let people do it with smoking and drinking, which are just as harmful and addictive.

"Just as"? Smoking and drinking are far more harmful and addictive than marijuana. And smoking pot doesn't ruin people's lives, people ruin people's lives.

Any drug can ruin a life, if you go over the top with it. Let me tell you from experience, smoking a quarter of high grade skunk every single day for about 5 years is not good for you.

Yeah, that's a bit abusive. And that's the decision you made. The pot didn't tell you to smoke that much. Maybe it did. But if that's the case, I'm guessing you were doing more than just Miss Jane. :o

Yea it was a bad time. I was a bit of a mess really.

Now I maybe buy an 8th once or twice a month. No problem.

Legal or not, it's still poison. It compromises your higher brain functioning, makes you prone to psychosis, and therefore makes you dangerous to yourself and others. The fact that alcohol does the same thing doesn't negate this fact.

We have enough alcohol related problems without compounding them with potheads running the street. The law really does very little to punish/correct people for making others suffer for their addictions. Until that happens, I hope no other drugs become legal for recreational use.

But forget about what the government says. Forget about what your slacker buddies say. The intelligent, healthy thing to do is abstain from altering your cognitive function with a toxin.

Get a life. Stay clean.

How's that for a rant? :cmad:

:funny: Weed doesn't make you prone to psychosis. Smoking it heavily for a number of years might make you prone to severe paranoia and schizophrenia.

But actual psychosis? Where did you hear that rubbish?

It's common knowledge in the mental health field. It doesn't get much media attention, but the more studies that are done, the more the link is proven. Here's one of many articles I've read on the subject:

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Wellness/marijuana-precedes-psychosis/story?id=13031478

And, believe me, if I could tell you about all the case files that I've read with pot use was an antecedant to severe mental issues, you would be floored.

That's what I've done/plan to do.
