Anderson, Hoffman Reteaming on Master

Don't get me wrong, though, I still like Anderson very much and I'm going to see The Master with the best of intentions.

Though my absolutely fave Anderson is Wes.

Well at least you like Wes. Hell, I'll defend The Darjeeling Limited when I can.

Gianakin is breaking my black heart - first Drive, then now There Will Be Blood? It makes me the Star Wars prequels even more!! :p

Wait, he doesn't like Drive? That explains the SW prequel love so much now. Your breaking my heart Gianakin. :waa:

Why? I am really curious. I absolutely love it, though to be fair I have only seen it four times.

It goes to what Armond White was saying, that it failed to convey to me its themes, message and I never really got to invest in the characters enough to keep me interested. I found it a fairly bland movie. Like Drive. Same kinds and levels of letdown.

I love me some Wes. Rushmore, Life Aquatic and Fantastic Mr. Fox are great lazy Sat. films. But Darjeeling Limited....

The dark side is strong with this one.

"Drive is the path. The holy path of greatness, says the Gosling." -- Book of Gosling 4:9

And it's not like PTA, where I like him, I just hated one movie of his. I actually dislike Refn as a director.

You can imagine the nightmares I used to get when I was in the Batboards and someone said "Refn for the next Batman flick". Refn can have Wonder Woman, but he'd better steer clear of Batman.

I think Darjeeling unfairly gets bashed on when I think it's a stronger film than the cold Life Aquatic. That being said, I also think Darjeeling lacks any real identity. If I had to recommend a Wes Anderson film to a friend who is not familiar with his work, Darjeeling wouldn't be the first.

But I'll defend it because it's not that bad of a film.

Wow, that is like the exact opposite of how I feel about both of those films. I love them team and the characters to death. Also some of my favorite cinematography and editing.

Haha, I didn't know loving the PT automatically meant hating Drive.

It explains the cross firing of your circuitry. It is like you are Johnny 5 and been hit by lighting. Everything is backwards. :hehe:

I think you hit the nail on the head regarding its lack of identity.

Can't argue with both movie's cinematography and Drive's editing.

F**k you, I get laid in Bizzaro world!:woot:

Gianakin, you don't dream about driving around a dreamy neon-lit Athens in your car, listening to College?

I'll have to give it another go. Only watched it once. Can't say the same for Hotel Chevalier. :wow:

By the way, what is your favorite Wes film?

Well, Hotel Chevalier wins all the time due to Natalie's bare booty!

My fav is actually The Royal Tenenbaums. It's like the most complete Wes Anderson film. I also loved Moonrise Kingdom, funny enough, my favorite film of Summer 2012.

Nah, I'm not a new wave 80s guy in Refnworld. Athens by night is a Tom Waits town.

Gotta watch Moonrise again to be sure, but it's a toss between that and Royal.

It wouldn't be Athens in your case, since our mutual friend here is Greek.*

*I make Greek references at least 100 times a month when chatting with him.
No just a crappy cow town, but hey still College and still driving.

The Royal Tenenbaums is indeed great. I have sadly had to wai for Moonrise Kingdom on Blu Ray. Only a few weeks now.

And perfectly executed, imo. Any director who can get Willis to wipe that smirk off his face and act, while at the same time making Norton not look like his usual stoned self (as of late) wins major points in my book.
