Sequels Andrew Garfield possibly out?

maybe having Tobey in TASM 3 will make up for ASM 3 and this might be Raimi's chance to correct it... IF it's all true about Tobey and Raimi returning... me personally, I've never liked Garfield and Webb and I'm hoping so much for a return of the original star and director...

I mean,it's not so outlandish an idea anymore.I don't doubt the Sony execs saw the success of DOFP and thought "They have the return of a director who gave them their greatest success and who successfully "righted the ship".Why the heck can't we do the same?"

As much as the detractors want to deny it,the Raimi/Tobey paring was very successful both financially and critically for them.(Petty fanboy ******* about SM 3,notwithstanding)

How does this news of Maguire returning fit in with Marvel taking over Spider-Man? They're not going to want to have an aged Peter Parker in the role but will want to start fresh.

If MARVEL took over that wont happen. If Sony got stuck doing movies by themselves & no deal is made ? They might be desperate enough in the long run

Lazenby and Dalton seem to get the most flack from Bond fans. Even though they both have their followers. But because some people actually hate them they had to have been fired.

I always felt Moore was the weakest of the Bonds. Not by his doing, but because his movies were just a reflection of what was popular at the time, but with James Bond thrown in. However for me to say, "he got fired after just seven films, because he sucks" would be just effing ludicrous.

The story on Lazenby changes depending on who you ask. I believe the most commonly accepted version is that his agent convinced him the Bond franchise was a relic of the 60s and he should quit, but he rubbed A LOT of people the wrong way in the cast and crew on OHMSS so even if he didn't get fired, EON wasn't sad to see him go.

Not entirely sad to see him go, but at the same time some of them were willing to iron out the rough edges since bringing in a new Bond would be a period of adjustment on the studio, Lazenby, and the fans.

They probably would've been in panic button mode if they didn't get Connery back for DAF, before trying again for a new Bond.

The Saint was over so was Moore available? I'm not sure. They had looked at Moore before by that point and hired him a couple of years later, although not before the first promotional images of Live and Let Die were done which included Sean Connery in them.

Interestingly, despite the fact the film was terrible and he cost a ton, bringing Connery back actually worked from a financial standpoint. DAF did much better at the box office than OHMSS did. It won't happen (and he's too old anyways), but it does make me wonder if Tobey Maguire came back as Spider-Man if it would have a similar effect.

As I understand it,Garfield is out in any event.(Between the films under performing and him blowing off the big wigs at a dinner event-take your pick)

As a result, they want to move forward with someone else, possibly a return to Raimi/Tobey.

Also it's possible they'll let Marvel have Spidey and wipe the slate clean.(Provided Marvel makes them a tender little offer they can't ignore)

Maguire is never coming back.

Andrew Garfield's run as Spider-Man is dead.

There's no chance that Maguire and Raimi will be back (and I don't want either of them back anyway).
From the look of things, there won't be a TASM3 and even if Sony don't strike a deal with Marvel, they're going to reboot anyway so no Garfield either way.

Such a waste of talent. I'd only really want Garfield to return if he was in good hands with Marvel, Sony don't deserve him.

I don't have a problem with Marvel taking over Spider-Man (especially if they're gonna stick with him in high school) but at least have Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man run finish. It's not like the next Spider-Man movie that includes him be it S6 or TASM3 will flop hard like After Earth. This series has a following.

It's gonna suck hard to see Andrew's run unfinished.

I think most Bond fans agree though that DAF is Connery's worst effort and that it didn't really seem worth him coming back in the end. He was overweight and phoning it in then, and the movie was rather campy.

Maguire back as Spidey might, in Sony's minds, seem like a good idea. But once it is made, I think it could easily be viewed in the same light as DAF and fans will think that he really should've stayed away instead of coming back for an encore.

Maguire's run didn't technically finish either. Spider-Man 3 just ended with no sense of finality. And it ended that way, because they figured on Spider-Man 4 happening.

DAF was in the same tone as Live and Let Die along with the majority of Moore's run. If DAF starred Moore instead of Connery it wouldn't stick out in our minds so much.

DAF is my least favorite Bond film in the entire series, and Connery was obviously phoning it in. I even prefer NSNA. But it made twice as much at the box office as OHMSS did. That's what I was getting at. So even though it was bad, it made money. It made more than Roger Moore's first two films too. Adjusted for inflation, DAF is 9th on the list, just ahead of Casino Royale and just behind From Russia with Love.

I know that. I'm just speculating about how Maguire's return would affect the box office if hypothetically it did happen.

Yeah, the public at large ate Raimi/Tobey up with a fork and spoon.Only the die hard Garfield fanboys had any problems with them. That's the only reason there stands a reasonable possibility of the pair coming back. Raimi loved the gig (studio interference on SM 3 notwithstanding) and what else is Maguire doing? I doubt they'd turn it down,if offered.

Not that they would come back, but if they did, Raimi and Maguire would probably make SM4 and not ASM3. It might be more like Superman Returns where it ignores the events of Superman 3 and 4 and is just a sequel to Superman 2. Maybe Raimi would want to just make a sequel to SM3 to try to finish it off on a brighter note.

But I hope for a fresh start instead of retreading old ground.
