Anime cliches you wish would go away

Title pretty much says it all. What are some cliches in Anime you are sick of seeing?

For me...

1) Giant boobs. When I was a teen, sure it was fun. The first few times. But now that i'm an adult it's just stupid...especially when they do it so much in anime. I've found I enjoy female characters more that are given more respect by the artist.

2) Crying. Typically it's a female character giving a high pitch, ear grating annoying cry for a good 2 to 3 minutes straight. It's not cute. It's not sad. It's just bad. Really bad.

3) Upskirts. First few times it was funny....now, well...it's just stupid.

1) Absolutely agree on the excessive pantyshots. It's funny for a moment, but not as much as the artists apparently believe.

2) Ditto on the crying.

3) Enough with the chosen mechs.

4) Excessive fillers. I'm looking at you, Naruto.

5) Calling Your Attacks.

6) Alien girl falls for human boy. This doesn't bother me as much as the others, but still.

Shonen anime modeled after Dragon Ball Z. I don't watch many shonens, but I'd definitely watch more if so many of them didn't follow the "guy gets increasingly more powerful in long, drawn out fights and there's no end to it" formula. I do enjoy Naruto though, and liked the first three seasons of Bleach.

I've never understood this complaint. Most fillers for anime have no bearing on the overall story, you could just not watch them and skip to the canon stuff. I mean fillers are there for certain reasons but one can just choose not to watch them.

That's right if you're watching it on DVD, but if you're following the broadcast, week after week of fillers can be a real turn off. And I actually liked some of the Naruto filler, but after awhile it got to be too much.

Its either you get fillers or the show goes on hiatus for the same period of time. They certainly won't do that since they'll risk losing money and viewers.

If you can have hundreds of decent blonde haired/blue eyed characters then you can have a few decent black characters.

They have alot of black characters in anime, but they all have purple hair for some reason. I just wish we didnt have moody character's always getting the spotlight. I also wish fights didnt drag.

That's why I like Naruto far more than Sauske(especially in Shippuuden) because he's not mopey and whiny. He's the carefree Goku type character.

4) Lack of respectale characters period seemingly all males are lovable scamps emo, and/or overly effeminate and all females are adorably stupid, totally useless, or annoying cry babies.

5) Crying over everything (One Piece mainly much as I like OP but it's annoying to have them cry over everything)

6) (in honor of the first 2 listed) Animes with no plot and are just made to put big boobs and panty shots in them.

7) Skimpy non-protective outfits for women in battle

The only good story about that was Urusei Yatsura and i hate when they mimick classics like that, one example is To Love ru that is an imitation that instead of character development just tries to show naked female characters

AGREED! Forgot that one. I think a women fully armored up (like say in Ghost in the Shell or Claymore) is way freaking cooler.

Simon Brezhnev, the tall, black sushi seller in Durarara!!! He not only manages to be a respectable black character, but also manages to throw a punch at one of the main antagonists. He's probably one of my favorite characters in that show, too. t:

Strong villain troubles are, much stronger hero comes and kicks villain's arse
A more powerful foe comes and kicks the hero's arse, then hero gets far more powerful and finally wins

This isn't exactly a cliche but rather something wrong with the industry as a whole.

They need to stop making adaptations of manga that have just begun. That sometimes can kill an otherwise great series.

For example I've been watching Ao No Exorcist since it first started airing this year. The first three episodes were amazing as was most of the stuff that they adapted from the manga. As it turns out the manga isn't that far in at all (only 28 chapters).

So now the anime has spiraled into it's own anime arc which has been a somewhat rough transition. If it wraps up this anime only arc for this first season and they're able to go back to the manga for the second season that's fine but when they decide to end it with an anime only ending that's when it sort of pisses me off.

Just a pet peeve and something thats happened to countless manga adaptations. It really bothers me in this case seeing as Ao No Exorcist has broken records in the NYT best sellers countless time now and in Japan the DVD/Blu Ray and manga has consistently been at the top out ranking Naruto and Bleach among other popular shonen.
