So I was looking for a thread on this and couldn't find one... so I started one.

I read the one shot when it came out and wasn't really all that impressed. I decided not to buy anything else, but one week (several weeks back) it was a slow comic book week so I went ahead and got caught up. Now I've only read Nova and Silver Surfer (and the first issue of Super Skrull) thus far, and so far I'm actually really enjoying it. Is anyone else reading this? What are your thoughts?

It's been okay. It hasn't exactly filled the void left after Seven Soliders wrapped up, but it's entertaining non the less.

I'm reading and enjoying SS and Nova. They aren't A+ titles, but I've missed my cosmic stories and they're worthy entries

Nova is what got my attention thanks to my old New Warriors fandom days. I liked him in the oneshot, but that was about it. Only over the past few weeks have I actually liked anything with Silver Surfer (the Herald's Ordeal storyline actually) so I that really helped me better appreciate the SS mini. I had read the Beta Ray Bill trade a while ago and loved Stardust, so him being in it also helped. I read the first issue of Super Skrull and it was only okay. I'm going to read the second issue and the first issue of Ronan either tonight or tomorrow and see what I think of them.

Like you guys said though, they aren't WOW or anything... but their good. It does still feel like it's building to something, and I'm curious to see what it builds to.

I like them all, and am collecting them all.

My favorites in order are Ronan, Silver Surfer, Super Skrull, and Nova. For some reason while I like the Nova one, it's simply not as entertaining a read to me as the others.

Ronan kicks ass.

As a side note, the only one of these I had even HEARD about before reading this series was Surfer - the rest were all new characters to me.

Kotagg - Marvel has a pretty vast cosmic history that's fallen by the way side in recent years. I can recommend you some excellent books to go back and check out, though.

Ronan and Super Skrull I skipped over. Most seemed to agree Skrull wasn't anything special, but I've not heard anyone talk about Ronan. Could anyone else chime in on it?

Yeah, I'm always willing to get back-issues; there are just too many to get, so the only time I get any is when it's directly suggested which ones to get.

I just read some Silver Surfer comics that I absolutel loved and highly recommend. They're issues 70-82. 70-75 are the Herald Ordeal, and the following issues connect to it fairly tightly to make a full interesting story. You'll find a lot of the characters from the Silver Surfer Annihilation story in there (Galactus, Air-Walker, Firelord, Terrax, etc).

I'd also suggest the Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill mini, also in trade form. That's where Galactus' current herald, Stardust, makes his debut... and it's also just a great story.

And for Nova, there's a great arc in the New Warriors original run that was cool. Issues 40-43 and the arc's called "Starlost." It has Firelord and Air-Walker in it as well, and it has them facing the Supernova that Nova mentions in the first issue of the Nova Annihilation mini.

I have limited cosmic knowledge, but I absolutely loved those.

The Herald Ordeal was a great story, one of the first I read as a kid

Kotagg, is it same to assume you're read all the major Thanos stories? Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, Marvel: The End (and also the first arc of his unfortunate ongoing)

I would also STRONGLY recommend Peter David's Captain Marvel. Hands down one of the coolest, funniest, and most entertaining books MArvel has ever done.

Nope, never heard of Thanos until I saw him in the Annihilation prelude.

Then I also recommend Infinity Gauntlet. I forgot about it earlier, but it was also amazing.

That's a DAMN shame. Pick up Infinity Gauntlet, it's awesome.

Elijya, was War any good? I've seen it at Walden Books a few times and was a little interested.

whoa, ok, dude, Thanos is the Marvel Cosmic MACK DADDY. He's basicly Dr. Doom on a Cosmic Scale. Smart and powerful, and fascinating to read about.

The Infinity Gauntlet is ESSENTIAL reading, for both Thanos and Marvel in general. You should also track down the Thanos Quest, which was the prelude to the Infinity Gauntlet, to understand this guy.

Agreed, it seems here that most of the people that do get involved in the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe only seem to know of Thanos The End and the Heart of Darkness. Sad :(

Infinity War was okay. It's not a horrible story at all much better than many many other stories Marvel has put out. But no where near the IG Saga. Don't expect anything that good. But it's interesting at the very least.

Infinity Crusade eh. IW and IC somewhat go together so it's nice to see them linked together, creating bit more of a story to the two of them.

IMHO

Infinity Guantlet Saga 10

Infinity War 6

Infinity Crusade 5

A 6 really isn't worth $30 to me...:(

War was one of the first comics I ever read as a kid. In a word: no, it's not as good as Gauntlet. But if you really enjoyed Gauntlet, it is a pretty worthy follow up, and just a really good Marvel Cosmic story, and there's some great Thanos and Warlock stuff in there.

Well when I give it a six don't think in terms of 60%. 1 would be a pos. where as 10 would be a work of art. 6 is decent, and depending on what you like might actually be good.

No prob Peck
