BOUGHT/THOUGHT Jan 31st

The Walking Dead 34 -Oh man, what an ending. I was left saying pretty much the same thing Rick was saying. "Oh God...Oh God no..." Jesus, can these motha f**kas ever catch a break? Loved the end too. Good to see that that guy and his kid from the beginning of the series are still alive. Beautiful scene. 5 out of 5. (as always. Walking Dead rocks, and if you aren't picking it up you should totally start.)

Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters 7 - RAY's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The real Ray not that fake ass bastard too. Great ish. Can't wait for the last one. 5 out of 5

Dude, I need more Walking Dead spoilers, my shop didn't get it this week.

Yes, Ray mother****ing Terril!

Okay, so the issue starts off with a little getting to know some of the newer characters. We find out that the guy that helped them escape was a gym teacher. He told stories about how he watched his entire class eaten by Zombies. Sad really. Machonie was still kinda spaced out about what she did, and the fact that she's not entirely sure whether or not she killed the Gov. Then we get a zombie attack in the woods, they manage to get to a car and are on their way back to the prison. But when they got there, they find that the Zombies have overrun the gates. There's bodies in the courtyard, and nobody in sight. Nobody living that is. :( It was a huge shock really. Had you worried about the Gov coming in for revenge, and instead, this happens. From the looks of things a few people got killed, but no specifics. Now we gotta wait until next ish to see what happened. There was also a little story about Rick's neighbor and his kid. Still alive, still hanging on. The kids got nothing better to do than read Invincible comics over and over and over. (heh, product placement.) The guy finds a Game Boy and gives it to his kid for Christmas. Really great monologue from him about how life has changed and how bad he feels about looting whats left of the stores. When he looks up, the kid wasn't listening to a word he said, too busy playing his Game Boy. Made him happy to see that through all this s**t that their lives have become, he was able to make his boy forget about it, at least for a little while. Nice scene.

Usually don't post in the bought though threads because Dread covers the reviews good enough I don't need to post.

I did finally find Civil War #1 and 2 issues, so caught up to 5, but they still were out of 6's. Good to finally see how it started rather than just the bits I've heard on the Hype.

Also took a lot of you guy's advice and bought Annihilation #1-6 yesterday as well. I haven't read them yet but plan too in a bit.

Also got Wolverine #50 which could be interesting if done right, but could go the opposite way too.

Annihilation is one of those things that helped me keep the faith with Marvel.

Yeah, really one of the best events i've had the pleasure of reading. Can't wait to pick up Nova's book when it comes out.

Agree on both counts.

The writers for the new NOVA series are the same pair who wrote his ANNIHILATION mini, Abnett & Lanning, so it should be good.

I wish they would've kept the same artist, I haven't really been impressed with Chen.

:ninja: Bump!

Just wanted to say that I read Ghost Rider Finale (Didn't know where else to put this) and for the most part it was good... No, that's a lie, I was confused as hell, kinda. I still liked it... mostly. Anyway, I just have a question or 3...

Where's Danny?! Where's Roxy?! Where's Stacy?! I'm so confused!! O No!!

THOUGHT:
52 #40 - Luthor vs. Steel! Awesome, awesome fight! With 12 issues to go, things are about to come to a head and it's looking damn good so far!

ACTION COMICS ANNUAL #10 - This issue was so/so. The story I liked best out of it was the Krypton Criminals' story, which took the movie story and expanded on it big time. That was nicely done. The rest of the issue felt really, really corny.

BULLET POINTS #4 - This series had a lot of promise, but it tossed any logic out the window when it started trading origins between characters. So because professor Erskine was shot before Cap, he becomes Iron Man in armor that technically shouldn't have even been invented for another 20+ years. That leads to Peter Parker becoming the Hulk, which leads to Reed Richards becoming Nick Fury, which reveals that Bruce Banner became Spider-Man while trying to find a cure for the Hulk. The execution is far too silly for a story told in such a serious tone.

DARK TOWER #1 - Don't much know what to make of this, the latest literary adaptation from Marvel. Not too familiar with the Gunslinger universe, and of course the guide to help out doesn't come out for two more months. But like any new series, I'll give it a grace period to win me over and then make my decisions on it.

DETECTIVE COMICS #828 - Another done-in-one classic from Dini. I'm loving his stories. Pure mystery, plus the Riddler on the side of the angels. Is it for keeps? Or is it a scheme? Wish this book got the recognition it deserved.

FANTASTIC FOUR THE END #5 - The aliens attack and the earth heroes ain't too thrilled! Can this be the end of the FF? Well, if it's not, then someone needs to slap a false advertising lawsuit on someone's ass!

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #17 - The black costume is on with no explanation at all. Flash knows Reilly is Peter and apparently sells him out. And Sandman is looking for help to get his father out of jail for killing...Uncle Ben? Ya know, this issue woulda almost been decent had David not decided to let that Uncle Ben subplot die.

GHOST RIDER TRAIL OF TEARS #1 - Another Ellis GR mini, and this one makes even LESS sense than the last. Pretty art, far too surreal storytelling.

IRON MAN HYPERVELOCITY #2 - Another book that makes no sense. Two issues in and I still have no clue what the hell is going on. Hell, they explained the plot and I STILL have no clue what the hell is going on. Maybe it'll make sense when they show how it ties in to Civil War. But so far, this mini has been nothing but double-talk and action, and that does not make for a good story.

IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #5 - Ant-Man vs. Ant-Man! The story is starting to pick up and I find myself slowly starting to enjoy the book.

MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN #24 - VENOM! That's right, the arch rival makes his debut with an all-new origin. So far, they're handling stories with otherwise convoluted continuity very nicely in this title. First the black costume, now Venom. Love to see a take on the clone saga...not that we'll get it, but that's just me. The people behind the MA titles have a lot on the ball.

MS. MARVEL #12 - The baddie is down and so is Arana. The only thing I'm really not liking about this book is Arana's characterization. I read her start to finish in the other books, and she's just coming off a bit too different for my tastes. Other'n that, good book.

NEW AVENGERS #27 - So the NEW NA debuts, and who do they fight? NINJAS! That's right, the new team's first on-page fight is with god damn ninjas. Bendis, lose the woody you have for the freakin' ninjas already!

NEW UNIVERSAL #3 - Best part about this issue was Justice doing some, well, justice. Otherwise, the story is pretty bland and wordy so far. A lot of set-up, hopefully some good payoff.

NIGHTWING #129 - This issue has pulled the title back from being dropped from my list. For now. I'm intrigued by the bride and groom psycho killers enough to give the book one more arc. Wolfman, win me over!

PUNISHER #44 - The best part of this issue was the opening kill. Dunno why, but something about it made me go oh hell yeah!

SPIDER-MAN AND POWER PACK #4 - Symbiote-powered Energizer! A great conclusion to the story and the series. I love these books. However, the next mini has a new artist. Hopefully it doesn't take anything away. This semi-manga style really fits these all-ages type books very well. And I hate manga, so ya know that's saying a lot right there.

SPIDER-MAN REIGN #3 - I just give up trying to figure this story out.

SQUADRON SUPREME HYPERION V NIGHTHAWK #2 - The Nighthawk side of things that leads him to the desert pounding on Hyperion. This is a new trend lately. We get the story, then we go back to get the other part of the story before the actual story goes on. Good? Bad? Who knows.

SUPERGIRL #14 - Just when it looks like I can safely drop a book, they go and pull a rabbit out of their ass. This time in the form of giving Kara NEW crystaline powers. I'll admit, I'm intrigued enough to see what the deal is with those.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #105 - More Bendis goodness! And by goodness I mean the wrap-up to a god awful story that has Peter looking like a major-league *****e.

UNCANNY X-MEN #483 - Vulcan bags Deathbird. And that's all. Oh, yeah, and he revives and teams up with D'Ken. 12 parts and a LOT of decompression. Not Bru's strongest title.

WHITE TIGER #4 - Loving this book. I wanna see more WT after it's over, but hopefully done right.

X-23 TARGET X #3 - So we learn about the use of the trigger and X's latest targets (flashback time). Still hasn't grabbed me like the first one did, just something about the pacing I don't like.

X-MEN PHOENIX WARSONG #5 - Crap. Just...crap.
