Another Pixar sequel... Finding Dory

It's so weird to think about how old this movie is.

I mean, here's the voice actor of Nemo then and now

I don't want to say "unnessesary sequel". But the first one seems like a pretty open and shut case, to me. The world was interesting, so maybe something else in that world. But I don't really want to watch more of Dad fish and kid fish, and their story seems finished. Why for it to actually be called Finding Nemo 2, they'd probably have to lose Nemo again.

Finding Nemo gets green lit for a sequel while we still wait on Incredibles? Where could you possibly go with Nemo again?

I think in years to come we'll look back at Cars 2 as the moment when Pixar stopped prioritizing creativity over assured profit. In other words, when they jumped the shark.

Pixar was special because it didn't pump out bland sequel after sequel like Dreamworks did. But if I compare what they've given us in recent years, 'How to train your Dragon' and 'Puss in Boots' beats the hell out of Cars 2 and Brave. Sad turn of events for a company I once so admired.

Well this s**t came out of nowhere. So two pixar theatrical releases in one year, huh? Interesting.

We have an official title!

RELEASE DATE: November 25th, 2013

Edit: Actually, the date is November 25th, 2015. Not this year.

Oh god. You just know Dory isn't gonna get kidnapped or anything. She probably just gets lost following some plankton around or something lol

Eh, I'm good with it. I'd rather it be Finding Dory than Finding Marlin.

Call the thread Finding Dory. Now.

TheIrishAvenger, the release date for Finding Dory is November 25, 2015.

It doesn't come out this year...

FINDING NEMO 2 to Be Titled FINDING DORY, and Released on November 25, 2015; Takes Place One Year after FINDING NEMO

Whether you agree or disagree with the wisdom of creating a sequel to Finding Nemo, the film is happening, and now it has an official title. Disney-Pixar has announced that the new film will be entitled Finding Dory, and will be released on November 25, 2015. As the title implies, the new movie will have a lot more of the forgetful fish (Ellen DeGeneres), and according to director Andrew Stanton, “One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In Finding Dory, she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.” The new movie will take place one year after the events of the first movie, and will bring back not only Marlin (Albert Brooks) and Nemo, but also the Tank Gang as well as other characters. The story will also take place partially along the California coastline.

Going back and watching Finding Nemo last year, I fell in love with Dory all over again, and her line, “When I’m with you, I’m home,” makes me tear up every time. Although Pixar recently went on a streak of sequels and prequels (Toy Story 3, Cars 2, and Monsters University), Finding Dory will be their first sequel after the original features The Good Dinosaur (May 30, 2014) and the Untitled Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind (June 19, 2015). I also wouldn’t be surprised if Pixar ultimately pushes Finding Dory behind Lee Unkrich‘s Untitled Dia de los Muertos movie, which is currently slated for 2016. Hit the jump for the press release.

Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” to Dive into Theaters

November 25, 2015

Ellen DeGeneres, the Voice of the Beloved Blue Tang Fish in 2003’s “Finding Nemo,” Shares Plans for the All-New Big-Screen Adventure

BURBANK, Calif. (April 2, 2013) – When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

“Finding Nemo” won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars® (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture–Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, “Finding Nemo” was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s currently the fourth highest grossing animated film worldwide. The film has more than 16 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory—with more than 24 million—is the most Liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

DeGeneres’ distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film and in the literary world. Her syndicated talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” is in its 10th season and has earned 38 Daytime Emmy® Awards. DeGeneres has won 12 People’s Choice Awards and the Teen Choice Award for Choice Comedian for three consecutive years. Additionally, her show won two Genesis Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode. For her unforgettable turn as Dory, DeGeneres was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance.

Everytime I try to watch Finding Nemo, I fall asleep it stop watching due to boredom so no thank you to the completely unneccessary and more than likely bad sequel

Learning about Dory's family, sounds fun. So this won't be coming until 2015 though, so I guess we have a long wait.

Oh well, at least we'll get The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out before it.

This is yet another sequel to a movie that I didn't want a sequel to, even though I'll probably watch it. And what does this mean for Inside Out, which is currently slated for a June 19th, 2015 release? Hopefuly Pixar's first time putting out two movies in the same year. Because if I had to choose between the two, it would be Inside Out.

Finding Dory has been a top trend on Twitter for like the past two hours - I don't think Pixar will be regretting their decision or anything come November 2015.

I think this the Pixar sequel people have been wanting for a while, even moreso than Toy Story 3.

Why is collider still referring to the Mind movie as "Untitled"? It is titled Inside Out.

I think the PIXAR sequel people have been wanting more is The Incredibles, still this sequel still sounds interesting, and they're not a studio that normally makes sequels just for money. Lets just hope they don't pull another Cars 2.

Nah, that would be the Incredibles 2.

I think they'll stay in their respective spots. But if push came to shove, I think Disney would move Finding Dory to June 2016, and maybe give that November 2015 spot to maybe Wreck-It Ralph 2?
