Another Pixar sequel... Finding Dory

Some clear improvements in the facial animations. But looks good. I'm going to have to take my mom to it.

That'll work. I can't not picture Al Bundy as the octopus.

I hope this isn't a cars 2 bomb waiting to explode.
All indications seem to be this is going to make all the money. It apparently killed at CinemaCon. I love the footage I have seen so far. Looks like the perfect continuation of the first film.

I hope this is good... but there isn't much that I see that gives me the feeling this will be. I don't get this. Is Dory the main character or is she missing like Nemo was?

I would assumed it works the same way the first film did, with the narrative being more focused on the lost one.

Is Dory Nemo's multi-great granddaughter in fish years?

So... is Dory the main character then? Because she just seems to be trapped in the same situation Nemo was. If Dory's the main character it's a bad idea. She's purely a supporting character. It's like Disney looked at their reports and said, "You know who sells and is the most popular with kids and everybody loved and quoted? Dory! Let's make a movie out of her! And name it Finding... Dory!"

Yes I believe Dory is the main character. I have heard no problem with that either. She isn't exactly Captain Jack here.

If they can make that work then great. I always kind of saw her in that same Captain Jack manner. The scene stealing, fun and funny supporting character who everybody loves and is the most popular in the film. I'm still skeptical though. I'm afraid Dory's schtick will just get old in this movie because we're seeing more of it and becomes disproportionate of the more straight characters to level her out.

You might be right. Though again, everything I have seen and heard has been very positive.

I just personally haven't seen anything from this film that seems like it's unique. For God's sake, they actually used a Peter Gabriel song in a Pixar trailer. Not just any Peter Gabriel. THAT Peter Gabriel song. That's been used a gazillion times in marketing for cheese whizz to socks. Nothing I see is inspired. Yes, it's a sequel, but this fundamental idea just reeks of brand, brand, brand, product, product, product.

Whoop you know what that means? In 2020 we're going to get Finding Marlin

What is crazy is that even Stanton and co admit for years he resisted a sequel recognizing the story was done "but then 4 years ago...he had an idea!"

Why don't hey just admit that what happened 4 years ago was that Stanton made a bomb that cost Disney hu dress of millions if dollars?

So pretty much with this movie, they made it so Stanton could make back the money he lost them on John Carter. :funny:

Haha oh well. That doesn't sound fishy to me :awesome:

I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion but am I the only one who didn't like Dory and found her to be a bit annoying (and not just because of memory loss)?

You're not the only one. I like Ellen DeGeneres, occasionally watch her show, and think she's born to make people happy. And she's funny.

But Dory is really grating. I don't know if I can stomach 90 minutes of Dory, she was plenty annoying in Finding Nemo.

I think Ellen is a great person, but her style really doesn't work for me. That being said, I have always loved Dory. One of my favorite characters.

I think Dory being the main character will work better than Mater being the main character in Cars 2. Mater had no real character traits other than being stupid so there wasn't a lot they could do with him. Dory is a bit more developed.

I like Marlin's straight man (or, um, fish) humor more, but Dory is pretty entertaining too. I'm not sure we needed to know more about her though.
