Another rumoured director for Cap America!

I'm glad he didn't take the helm of Iron Man, his idea's for the film were terrible, doing the whole father vs. son thing was a bad direction.

Interesting...might Cap start to develop soon now?

One can hope (assuming this guy has good ideas for Cap, unlike his IM movie).

He makes much more sense for Captain America compared to Iron Man IMO. I'd be happy with him though I still think it would be an inspirational film from Spielberg.

Spielberg would be the man for it...but I doubt he would do it, plus he would cost lots of $$$.

Having the director of The Notebook would make it easier to convince girlfriends to see this movie.

Captain America is a favorite of Spielbergs. He even voiced a character from Cap in the animated series. I forget which one but it's online and you can hear it. Funny stuff. I'm cool with Nick though.

I don't know how I feel about this. I'd like a director that's a visionary and grew up with Captain America in his heydey. Who ever directs this is going to need big ones cause there are so many points of view on how it should be made.

Crossing his imdb rating with his rottentomatoes rating for all of the films he's directed, you get an average of 61, giving him an equal score to Louis Leterrier, but less than Jon Favreau and Matt Vaughn.

hmm not really sure about this news, didnt like his ideas for Iron Man. but i suppose its only fair to wait and see what his take on cap would be.

The only movie that I have seen which he directed was John Q. Which wasn't bac, IMO. The only thing that turned me off him directing Iron Man was that he wanted to go with the father vs. son storyline.

As long as he's only directing, and someone writing for him (like Ed Brubaker from comics is perfect) it's okay by me.

I need Captain America quick, preferably 2009. Life's too short for waiting.

Brubacker's not a screenwriter though. He could be a consultant or something, but having a comic book writer write a screenplay by himself might be a bad idea.

I hope it's someone other than Cassavettes and that this is just a rumor.

The guy just wasn't getting Iron Man for starters.

If you guys want to see a really good Cassavettes movie, check out A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE. It was directed by Nick's father, John Cassavettes and is very good. Stars Peter Falk and Gena Rowlands.

IMHO, Spielberg will never do Captain America or a Marvel Comic book movie.

Just FYI, other movies Nick Cassavettes has done: THE NOTEBOOK and ALPHA DOG.
