Anyone realise that this Ant-Man movie is announced firmly as part of the MCU, whereas the first one had this odd potential standalone-ish quality about it when Edgar Wright was still helming it?

Hopefully this one won't take as many decades as the first one to go into production. Otherwise it might be Dylan Douglas playing old man Hank Pym instead.

^Lol I was about to ask the same thing. Maybe HYDRA will come back with an arsenal of improved Yellowjacket armor, as Carson escaped with the other specimen in the first film?

If they do, I would still appreciate if another villain could show-up as well; I'm tired of HYDRA

I think MODOK & A.I.M. is the way to go for villains.

Or perhaps an amalgamation of MODOK & Zola.

I actually despised AIM as an antagonistic force in IM3.........

I think they should just introduce yet another villain. It is a lot more intriguing that way than to keep bringing back other character arcs

I agree that AIM could fall victim to certain pitfalls that will make it seem like another HYDRA, but if they stick to the beekeeper henchmen & science-driven villainous plans, I think it could offer something fresh in the MCU.

Especially with MODOK running things.

I'm really curious to see what they do in the sequel. I'm sure it will heavily involve the microverse. But, if the MCU is in real time, why would they wait 3 years to go and save Janet?

I think I would have been less sour towards AIM in IM3 if they didn't steal the show from the Mandarin.

The damn Mandarin twist is the primary reason why that movie left a poor taste in my mouth (among many others); this is just like fortune cookies, as stated by the Mandarin decoy that should've had a real role and not just as a humorous character...

I agree that Hydra has become a bit repetitive and a full on terrorists mad scientist version of AIM would be a cool to see.

I could see Pym having Scott and Hope go after AIM as the represent using science for evil. I think they should of made Carson an AIM member instead of Hydra. Had Carson taken the stolen Pym particles to AIM which would of set them up as villains in the sequel.

You know what, I'm in favor of AIM (particularly with yellow beekeeper suits). I've been pushing for AIM in Agents of SHIELD, but I'm not convinced they could pull of MODOK. Ant-Man has the right tone for someone like MODOK to show up. Agents of SHIELD could have someone like Superia if they wanted to, but I don't see them making MODOK work.

I don't mind AIM if they are in beekeeper suits as cannon fodder. They have to be in those suits though and not so generic like Hydra have been in the movies and AOS. But I want a proper supervillain too, like Taskmaster.

Maybe AIM could be behind Taskmaster's photographic abilities.

Taskmaster could work for AIM. The character is a mercenary after all.

How about a Scott & Hope wedding for the sequel? The engagement transpires off screen between movies but the wedding will take place in the movie & then they have a Marvel style bachelor party with cameos from other Marvel actors & then they fight the bad guys on the side leading up to the wedding & then Hope gets her mother back to be there for her wedding also.
