As the title says, is there any plans whatsoever for such presentations? I haven't seen or heard mention of the movie being planned for Imax screenings. Perhaps i missed them or its simply to early to tell as the movie is not yet complete. Can someone pinpoint me to some articles that make any mention for such plans?

There hasn't been any advertisments for IMAX TF in Australia. Would be a shame if they didn't release it in the format.

Only forseeable thing though is- when is HP coming out? That's IMAX 3D.

Hope they put Transformers in Imax- that would be awesome!

Giant robots on a GIANT screen.

I didn't like the 3d aspect. When I watched Superman Returns in IMAX it seemed like more of a distraction to put the glasses on and take them off than anything else.

I'D LOVE 2 see ths in IMAX 3D....but.....they've would've announced it a long time ago....sorry....

I hate to say it but he has a point, Bay would have been all over it by now.
i HEARD that! i agree with what ur saying, but just back off the bad stuff about me! i'm a 15-year old teenage dude, 4 pete's sake! The LEAST u can do is cut me some SLACK!:cmad::trans::heart:

F**kkk...

ROB:
Hey all, Rob here form Philadelphia, i was talking with one of my good friends who is a higher up for IMAX theaters and he told me last week that there will be no showings of Transformers in imax anywhere. I dont know if this is true or not but can we get some confirmation from the Bay camp on this, of all the movies this has to be in IMAX! Help me i need my IMAX transformers fix!

This article seems to be pointing to no.

THE SKINNY: HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, the fifth film in the series, will now open in theaters and IMAX nationwide on Wednesday, July 11, rather than the previously set release date of Friday, July 13.

No reason was given for the announced move, but we speculate that Warner Bros. is not being superstitious and simply wants to take advantage of this summer’s hot box office for sequels by getting the film into theaters early.

It will also give the film an earlier start on pushing TRANSFORMERS out of the top spot on the box office list, as the anticipated sci-fi blockbuster opens July 4. Warner Bros. has also moved the opening date of the John Krasinski/Mandy Moore romantic comedy LICENSE TO WED, previously set for July 4 as well, back one day to Thursday, July 3, presumably to give it a TRANSFORMERS-free day on what will be for many a long weekend.

Will Paramount/DreamWorks move TRANSFORMERS as well? Stay tuned.

It obviously wasn't going to be IMAX. I knew that for going on three months now. HP has it because it brought 3D to the table. Not a surprise dude.

Yeah, I wanted it in there as well... but, that comes more down to the IMAX people than the Dreamworks people. IMAX went with what they thought was the best choice- Harry Potter. Which is understandable, it has 3D and will be the IMAX's big film of the summer due to that technology. Once HP announced 3D IMAX, I knew it was a done deal- IMAX booked.

Superman Returns? Spider-Man 3?

Just messing with you! If the decision was truly made by IMAX people, Bay & Co should have fought it like they fought the rating for the film. This should have been an easier win too. For a film claiming to be "giant ****ing robots are coming" they sure messed up big time. IMAX is great quality, its like watching HD over SD, DVD over VHS, i think you get my point.

3D films sell. If TF brought in 3D- then it would kick Harry Potter's ass to the ground and yell, "giant mother fckin' robots will destroy Broom Stick Riding Boy." But, as said before- make no mistake about it, 3D is what gets a film into IMAX. 3D is a huge selling point, because it's not a gimmick any more like it was back in the day.

WB has been the king of this (playing the IMAX "game") so far. Superman Returns, HP, next year TDK.

Im just curious to know, but you are aware that IMAX isn't only 3D right?

Yes, I am aware of that. Lol. And I do know that usually/typically only one big blockbuster film goes into the IMAX at a time. Thus it is more of a competition to get into it- thus, the film with the biggest draw and the biggest selling point will be the film to get into the IMAX.

Spider-Man 3 had the luck of being surrounded by no 3D films and by being the first one out of the gate.

Whereas, TF was up against HP. The bigger selling point is what will draw in more tickets. And a 3D IMAX exclusive film will, without a doubt, sell more tickets than a regular IMAX presentation. Because it provides a true 'experience'.

Bump Transformers back to mid/early June, we would have had the IMAX. Because there wouldn't be that TF IMAX vs. HP IMAX decision, in which HP had the bigger draw to the 3D technology selling point.

And also from that 3D aspect, you will probably know that this deal- similar to SR's IMAX deal- was in the works for perhaps the last year or so and then they decided to officially announce it. Because it took them time to apply the proper 3D effects for the twenty minute finale.

So, it's all about looking at the IMAX, particularly, about the selling point- which film will sell more tickets? In the case of HP and TF Imax, HP will, because as I said- many people will opt to see the IMAX version than the regular version due to the selling point WB is providing. That means money and businesses revolve around money, it was the best deal they had.

Umm...I'm 15 years old. You don't see me act like a total n00b...:whatever:

i just bought 2 tickets for the first showing at the archlight in los angeles.
ive been waiting 20 years for this moment

IT IS POSSIBLE!!!

Just went to FANDANGO to pre-order my tickets for Fantastic Four, surprise- surprise, it is playing on the IMAX!!!

It will be playing on and sharing the screen with Spider-Man 3.

What this shows is that IMAX is starting to see the potential of "giant screen" this summer and if everything goes right with FF2....

Come July 2nd, we will probably share the screen with FF2 and then later share the screen with Harry Potter.

"Sharing the screen" more or less says that older IMAX films or films put in the IMAX will at most be seen one to two times a day and every other showing will be of the current IMAX film.

Here's an example of my theater with the SM3/ FF2 split:

http://www.fandango.com/regaltransitcenter1826imax_aaetg/theaterpage?date=6/15/2007

Nothing is laid in stone, but if FF2 is a moderate IMAX success at the very least, they will more than consider putting TF in IMAX for some time being.... possibly having a later night showing while HP shares morning and afternoon to later afternoon (this is what they did with LOTR)

In other words, there is a stronger chance now that some IMAX theaters may project the TF film onto an IMAX screen.

So depending on the type of theater you have- if they have "split screenings" and non-IMAX films PROJECTED onto an IMAX screen. There is a stronger chance that your area may have TF in IMAX for some time. All depends on how your IMAX works.

July 2nd- July 11th (?) TF would have it for the majority of the time.

July 11th
HP: 12:30, 4:00/3:40, 7:00/6:30
TF: 10:00/9:30

/= Time "or possiby" that time.

It's all about business, thus- key HP demographics would work out for a possible screen share. Positive, we have a chance. Negative, once HP arrives we'll be bumped up to around 9:30-10:00.

Or something along those lines...

I just called my theater and what a damn lousy service! The guy had absolutely no idea of anything it seems, he didn't even bother asking his manager. Usually in the past they had tickets on sale early on, specialy for IMAX movies. Now i bet this guy didnt even know a TF movie is coming out. What a moron...

This whole FF thing is news to me. I just went on today and when I saw "giant screen" I literally went. :wow: I didn't expect that to happen. And the fact that that did happen gives me hope that TF now has a greater chance at going into the IMAX.

I think they'll work TF like they worked the LOTR films and some other IMAX film.

The "some other IMAX" film's prime demographic were younger teenagers and children.

Whereas LOTR focused on more older teens and up.

Note- I am not saying that HP is a child's film, what I am saying is that business wise there will be more younger teens and children constantly seeing HP than older teens and adults. Whereas TF will have alot of it's money, more than likely, coming from older teens, college aged and some adults. Thus having HP in the prime hours and TF in the later hours.

Thus the chances for the same LOTR "shared screen" which I posted above:

July 2nd- July 11th (?) TF would have it for the majority of the time.

July 11th ->
HP: 12:30, 4:00/3:40, 7:00/6:30
TF: 10:00/9:30

You really don't know what "screen sharing" is- do you?

Yeah, HP got there first- as I was the FIRST one to say- even ask Millenium Movies or do yourself a favor and read the posts above. I was the one saying "no chance", but that changed when I saw the potential system that they are setting up in regards to IMAX and summer movies.:cwink:

The FF2 scenario is actually giving stronger chances to a TF Imax due to the fact that IMAX will be working, or seems to be starting a "screen sharing" system for the summer. This shows that the IMAX is starting to see big bucks from the IMAX and will utilize it in anyway they can, especially Regal IMAX theaters...

The best business solution prone to bring them the most amount of money is what I posted above and what they did with LOTR. Chances are higher that you will have more showing up for a 10:00/9:30 of Transformers than a 10:00/9:30 of Harry Potter due to the very key and target demographics.

Okay, it's official- IMAX seems to be throwing every blockbuster into the IMAX now!!!!!

Die Hard is going IMAX this Tuesday as well!!!

Big fckin robots on a big mother fckin' screen here we come!
