The Dark Knight Anybody regret watching the prologue?

You will get to see it soon enough.

I don't mean to double post in this thread, but is the high-definition version of the Prologue being added on any DVD other than the Blu-ray version of Batman Begins?

Isn't it on the SE of Gotham Knight?

I think its also going to be with Gotham Knight, I might be wrong about that.

Still though, it is part of TDK so when you see the movie in theaters you will get to see that scene anyway.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Great build up to Joker's big reveal, IMO. I loved the shots of Chicago (the opening shot especially), and the zom in on Ledger just standing at the side walk pretty much let you know that this guy means serious business.

The dialogue? It did it's purpose, and it's the kind of thing youd expect to here from half wits who rob banks for a living. Anything in there to make 'em sound smart would just been ridiculous (if they're really that smart then why wouldn't they just host their own robber instead of working for someone else?).

The Goon's performances? I liked them. They acted like goon's should act. The roles don't demand anything super-special amazing from them, they just need to act like tough SOBs. I think anyone expecting Oscar-worthy work from henchmen may need to re-think who the movie centers around. Oh, and please, don't make fun of their voices. That's probably exactly how they sound like in this Batman universe. How would YOU like it if people made fun of the way you sounded and said you sound too old fashion? Exactly. It's the voices they were born with and the have every right in the world to talk with them.

Fichtner? Awesome, IMO. Calmly taking off his glasses, blasting goons with his shotgun. Pretty badass. And yes, I have no problem with his end line. To me, it sounded like he got shot in the lung. He probably couldn't breath and was desperatey trying to catch his breath *while* talking smack to Joker as well. Now there's a REAL man.

The physical comedy? How could anyone NOT like it? Only Joker could pull off such a crime as it played out. The timing of the bus(es) was just great.

And finally...like people said up above, "The Joker" just blends in with the rest of the dialogue. I honestly don't notice that. I'm too involved in the awesomeness of this scene.

Oh, and the music in the background...nice touch, Nolan. Really awesome.

Very well said.

Well put.

Plus Nolan using Heat as inspiration for the bank robbery scene? Priceless.

I agree with most of this. I didn't want to see the prologue because I didn't want to ruin it for myself, but there's so much going on it was worth seeing in advance, at least on IMAX which was great.

About "the Joker" lines; when I first saw it, this did pop out to me as a little forced every once and a while. I wouldn't mind some re-recording takes honestly, even if it was the same lines. But yeah, first impressions left me a little shifty with some goon line delivery. Now that I've watched it over and over online, it really doesn't bother me.

The music was also great, pulling some stuff from Begins with a weird summer-ish, sinister cicada/alarm sound especially near the beginning in all that bright sunlight.

I don't regret watching the prologue at all. Every time I feel my excitement for TDK start to lessen a little bit, I watch the prologue and it makes a all excited again.

seeing the prologue took away ANY doubt I had that Heath Ledger wasn't gonna make a good Joker... now I know better

Does anyone know if TDK will open exactly like the prologue with the WB logo under the flames? That was awesome!

Just a question for those who saw the Prologue in IMAX.

Was the acting better in the IMAX than it was on the bootlegs? Does the video quality affect the acting?

Well, like in musical performances, the poor sound quality can ruin the performance and make it seem flat and dry.

I was just wondering if the same could be said about acting.

Well that obviously would apply to musicals, since the poor sound isn't a true representation of the singing involved.

Quite different with movies that involve talking dialog. As long as you can hear and see a fair amount of the performance (which the bootlegs do just fine), then it's safe to say you'll just be getting a technical improvement when you actually see it in a genuine theater. The acting is pretty much all there regardless.

If someone were shot in the lung, they'd be dead in less than 10 seconds. :oldrazz:

He was probably going into shock, but we don't even know where he was hit.

And the flames morphed into the Batsymbol for like, half a second! :woot:

I ain't no doctor, but it did sound like he couldn't breathe that well.

Non-TDK Spoiler:

DiCaprio's character was shot in the lung in Blood Diamond, yet he didn't die in 10 seonds. In fact, he still had enough strength to make a phone call.
Just saying.

Depends how your lung responds, I suppose. It's quite a complicated organ. If you bleed out in your lung, you'll drown in your own blood in short notice. And then there's the whole "collapsed lung" thing.

Anyway, films aren't usually a good indicator of how wounds in general are handled in real life. :oldrazz:
