Anyone else wish Jeffry Wright got a little more action?

Jeffry Wright is awesome in my opinion, it just seemed odd to have a fairly established actor play a small role, then again if he playing Felix Leiter that means he'll be a reoccuring character...

I think the little taste we got of him was enough. They'll build on it more in Bond 22, as Bond enlists his help in tracking down Mr.Whites organization.

Felix will be back- Bond trusts him, we know from the old books/movies he's a recurring character, he saved Bond's butt, AND he's Jeffrey Wright (reason enough to bring him back). Bond's going to need a friend for the future films, I think Felix is gonna stay.

I absolutely love the way Jeffry Wright handles himself, I mean it's not the debonair suave type that Bond portrays, it's the kind of american don't give a **** attitude, I hope we see more of him.

Haha That screwed with me.

I kept thinking the whole card game "What the hell is crazy guy from Manchurian Candidate doing here? Best cameo ever!"

Then suddenly...FELIX!? I jumped with joy and then I remembered License to Kill. Damn.

Best part was when Bond said "What about the winnings?" Felix replies "Does it look like we need the money?"

Could anyone tell me more about this character Felix cause I dont seem to know much compared to all you guys. Ive never seen any of the old Bonds except some of the Sean Connery ones.

wikipedia:

"Film biography
In the films, Leiter is a CIA agent in all appearances except in Licence to Kill in which he worked for the DEA.

The cinematic Bond and Leiter meet for the first time in Dr. No, the first Bond film. The film version of Live and Let Die does not contain the sequence with the shark, and Leiter survives intact to help Bond again, however, Leiter's confrontation with the shark would later be in Licence to Kill where he is fed to a shark by the villain Franz Sanchez. The film version of Leiter lost only one leg at the knee to the shark, although one arm was seriously injured. Although severely mutilated, Leiter would still remain alive. His newly-married wife, Della, is raped and murdered by Sanchez's henchmen. These atrocities would send Bond on a quest for vengeance, which forms the film's central plot.

In more recent films the character of Jack Wade has appeared as the regular representative of the CIA, ostensibly because the producers did not want to feature a disabled Leiter. It is hinted in GoldenEye that he was friends with Leiter, though Leiter is never mentioned by name. Leiter appeared in the 2006 adaptation of Casino Royale, and due to the fact that the film is a reboot, Leiter once again is operating for the CIA without the shark encounter ever happening."

I liked Felix. I was pleasantly suprised he was there actually. I think him being there simply sets up a future appearance. I can EASILY see him in the next one.

Felix usually only appears in the Bond films for 5-10 minutes or so, usually away from the action like in Casino Royale, so, I thought it felt pretty natural.

Well...it depends on the film. In Dr. No he had A LOT of screen-time. And, he also had pretty good screen time in Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.

My only disappointment was that they didn't build up to him. I loved how in the old movies (since Felix was always played by a different actor) they had him follow Bond around and making us think it was a henchman of the villain. Then it turns out its Felix.

They should have done that. It would have been cool.

I thought they built him up well. They showed him explicitly before Bond bugged Le Chiffre's inhaler. And he snuck up behind Bond while he was going after Le Chiffre with a knife. I knew Felix was in it but did not know who played him, so I thought he was a henchman at the time.

Why? He could come back in the same role, or as another 00 agent...

Wait, Peoples Hernandez is in this movie???
Damn, now I want to see it even more :(

LOL! He even has his pimped out swagger in the movie too!

Jeffrey Wright was great as Felix Leiter. Too bad he didn't have enough screen time. He was funny too. Calling Bond "brotha" was fantastic!

I liked how friendly he and Bond were though. I mean, Felix extended his hand of friendship pretty well, I thought....even serving to suit as Bond's conscious at a point where he was going to kill Le Chiffre.

I think it served it's purpose. Let us know Felix is back and opened the door for a later appearance. I imagine next time out, Felix could play the same sort of role that Mathis played in CR......

I hope he gets a very expanded role in Bond films for now on, unlike the other Bond films.

Well, I think something the Brosnan films tried to recapture was the Felix thing with Jack Wade. If License to Kill had never happened, that dude probably would just have been Felix.

This is a major plus for the restart, I think. I mean, having Felix back....with legs and all.

And, obviously.....casting Wright seems to point that he'll return, otherwise they'd had gotten a ****ty actor for the filler....but, getting Wright shows me that they got a great actor so that they've got a great actor to use in later films.

Zukovsky, also.

Btw, yep.
You're right about Felix's role and Jeffrey Wright's casting.
He will be another great thing about Bond 22. I hope Martin Campbell directs 22.
