Anyone have any tattoos?

what else you got? and why the space cowboy? you a fan of the clint eastwood movie ? lol
no.
the reference i'm making is to Cowboy Bebop.
i have a tribal tiger on my upper left arm, it was my first one.
but i don't like it at all so i'm going to get it covered up with a Dia De Los Muertos skull.
and i have two down my back but i'm going to get those covered as well.
i also have one down my left outter calf but i'm taking a picture of that one because i haven't shaved in a while.:o

Why do people draw on their own bodies? I stopped doing that when I was 3.

i don't know.
i guess each person has their own purpose for it.
Isn't it a bit weird to be doing something without knowing why? I'm not having a go or anything, as I've often entertained the idea of a tattoo, but whenever I ask myself 'why?' I have no answer.

i have wanted to be inked since i was in elementary school.
i remember giving myself a tattoo in class with a pin and pen ink.
when people ask why i get them i just tell them that it makes me feel more like the person i'm intended to be, and honestly, it does.
i pick my art personally. i NEVER get any crap off the flash on the wall or out of the books.
i think that if you're going to get something on your body it should have a very deep personal specific meaning to you.
i know some people just get them due to fad, but i think there should be much more behind your decision than that.
but those are just my reasons.

So, I have some friends who are HEAVILY into the tattoo scene (we're talking Maori tribesmen tattoos on their faces kind of dedication). This is one of the things they've said many times about their decision to get these kinds of tattoos; that it helps them feel more like the person they were supposed to be and completes them on levels they felt weren't finished when they were born.

 Couldn't agree more.

It's always a fascinating discussion to talk with people about why they got certain pieces of ink. Each work has it's own story and special meaning to most of them (except for the trendy f**ks who get ink just because everyone else is). There's a certain spirituality around ink for many of us that have it. I know there is for me.

True story: When I was getting work done on my first jag (the yellow one), this kid came into the shop wanting to see about getting an armband done that he had drawn up. It was a poor rendition of a medal of some kind with a multi-colored rendition of a red, white and blue ribbon going around the arm with a star in the middle of it. It was pretty crappy looking, actually. Anyway, he wanted to know if my ink guy could do it, so my inker stops working on my tat for a minute, looks at the guys hand-drawn flash and says "Why do you want that?". The kid looks at him and goes "Because it looks f**king cool, man!". My inker goes "I can definitely do that for you and make it look kick ass.", to which the kid replied "Awesome! How much?". My tat artist didn't even blink and tells the kid $800. I coughed when he said that but didn't say anything. The kid goes "Okay, cool. When can you do it?" and books a time to have it done. When the kid left I just started laughing and said "You're going to charge that dumbass $800 for that thing?" and he says "People who want crappy tattoos and don't have any real deep meaning for doing so deserve to be ripped off. If he'll pay me that much money to do a boring armband that's lame and doesn't mean anything to him in the first place, then I'll gladly do it for him but I'm damn well going to be compensated for having to work on something so f**king stupid in the first place." That's when I learned that my ink got special attention from him because not only was it different and more of a challenge than a lot of the crap that he had to work on, but because it has some very deep seated spirituality behind it for me. He appreciated that (and probably gave me a break on the price because of it).

You've got some nice ink, jinx. Look forward to seeing what you evolve them to with your coverups.

I once heard someone say they were getting a tattoo after seeing it on someone else. I was so disgusted, not only for the poor person that was getting their design ripped off, but that the person would want someone elses tatt in the first place.

One thing I love about my artist: he refuses to put someone else's tat on another person. Period. Even if the original owner is okay with it. He feels each tat has a life of it's own and should be left as an original. He's had quite a few people ask him to duplicate my ink and he's refused and told them if he finds out they got it done somewhere else he'll have them and the artist that did it killed by his motorcycle gang buddies. LOL!

I've always wanted the superman shield on my arm but I know for a fact that a lot of people have this tattoo, so its really not worth getting killed by a motorcycle gang just to get a tattoo.

Don't be a *****! :cmad:

Actually, he'd probably do that one because he didn't design it and it's pretty common. He'd probably charge you $800 for it, though. Hah!

You could change it to make it more individual, the colours, the style, or incorperate it into another design. Just make it your own.

I'm going to get the Apple logo tattooed, of only to confuse people.
and maybe, to let the ladies know I have no viruses.

Yeah, I have thought about that, but I'm in no hurry and its really not something I would want to rush into. Also I would have to talk to a lot of people to find a good artist. Some of the tattoo shops I've seen are nasty litttle hole in the wall type places, I really don't see how they stay in business.

This would really be my suggestion (and probably my ink guy's, too). Why get something inked on you that so many others have? Unless you're trying to be like Jon Bon Jovi...and I realllllllly hope you aren't.

Maybe I could get the s shield inked on and then get implants to make it looked raised.

There are all kinds of possibilities, really. If you find a talented body-mod person and really start exploring all the different things you could do then you'll probably come up with a very unique take on the Superman logo.

I wante dthe kindom come logo, but i found out one of my friends has it, so I wont get it. But th eonlything I can think of thats unique about superman is the kryptonian letters. They seem to be following the actual alphabet that they put in the back of the supergirl TPB. I drew out my last name and it looks cool, and since its only 4 letters long, it wont look that bad.

I want a werewolf on my forearm, something like this
KHF-00035_thumb.jpg
about this size

i kinda always knew where i wanted my first tattoo, but i didn't know what i wanted. and i wasn't going to just go get something to have it, i waited til i found something that meant something to me.

when my nephew died, it really hit me hard. he and i were only 2 years apart and he's the first friend i ever had. i always knew i wanted my first tattoo on the inside of my left wrist, and after he passes i knew what i wanted.

I designed my own lettering and got it done by a friend of mine who's a tattoo artist. it's big enough for me, yet i can still cover it up with a bracelet or watch if i need too.

exactly. most of the people who ask "and why did you decide to get that?" really just don't want to hear the response. all they want is a reason to get into a debate with you on how it's going to be on you for the rest of your life and how you're going to regret it when you're 80.
how am i going to regret having my culture permanently a part of my body?
i just don't understand people's argument, so i'm just let it slide and tell them "well, even if i regret it i'll be the coolest great grandmother on the block".:whatever:

haha! yeah. that sounds just like my guy.
he'll charge me extreeeemely cheap prices because i've been going to him for years and he knows that it's really hard for me to save up to get any ink, but he knows the stuff i bring in is personal.
he charged this other gal $200 to get something the size of a dime and she is so stupid she paid it. i mean, come ON! how are you going to chose a rose off the flash to get on your ankle and then cry the whole time you're getting it. LAME!

thanks. but the ones that i'm going to cover up i didn't post.
i don't want to show those because i'm just to embarassed of them.
i was 17 and i agreed to be my ex's guinea pig a week after i bought him his frist tattoo gun. they don't look bad, they were just kind of silly images for me to decide on. i certainly will post them once covered up though.
