I'd be very interested in seeing these 2 powerhouses going at it.

First few pics are of a weird situation where Superman thought he was fighting Darkseid while he was really nearly killing Batman, last two speak for themselves.

I thought the final episode fight between them on JLU was incredible.

Personally, I think most Superman/Darkseid fights should result in Clark lying on the ground in a bloody heap. Doomsday should, im my opinion, be a way bigger threat than one that Superman can handle on his own.

Superman has gotten a lot tougher since his first fights with darkseid. I mean before he was a guy who didnt know how to fight people without doing real harm and never was beaten near death. But with superman fighting enemies who bring his down a few pegs. Hes updated his ability to fight and take a few hits.

In the comics, when was the first time that Superman encountered Darkseid?

The first appearance of Darkseid was this

I'm not sure if they actually interact in the comic or he's just introduced though...

Edit: Here's some more pics of Supes vs. Darkseid

Superman deflected the omega effect with his heat vison? Oy vey.

I know. It makes no sense on any level whatsoever, no matter how you explain it.

Heat vision deflecting Omegas that actually have force behind them makes no sense. However, HV could conceivably deflect them if it was the wipeout or teleportation beams -- when it comes to those settings, the actual effect only takes place once the beams find a living target. Before that, what occurs are 'Finder Beams', which go around everything else. Logically, if met by HV, they'd back off and step around the HV to seek the living target. I assumed this was what happened, since DS stated these beams were "annihilation itself" or some such.

What really doesn't make sense about that encounter is Darkseid slugging it out like a brick, or giving up due to swollen eyes. The guy healed Orion after he was literally ripped in half with a glance, yet he can't deal with a minor eye injury?

BTW, that Byrne fight was retconned into being Desaad masquerading as Darkseid in Evanier's New Gods run.

I could post some more Superman/Darkseid encounters myself. Thing is, I wouldn't really consider them fights. Apokolips Now, Adv.#595, and S/B#13 are their only real fights. Everything else (aside from the Chuck Austen issue) is basically Darkseid smacking Superman down or teleporting him away with virtually no struggle.

I'd think they'd just negate the heat vision. The Omega Effect is the oposite of creation. It uncreates things. It should uncreate heat vision aswell. And even if it went around the beams, it still should have hit Superman.

Anything that has Superman being an even match to Darkseid is stupid on many levels. Darkseid should be a League level threat.

Now, that's a Darkseid I want to see.

There’s really no rhyme or reason behind Darkseid in Superman comics.

- Superman CAN fly faster than the omega beams can move (which makes no sense)
- The omega beams don’t always hit their desired target (which makes no sense since they can manouver around objects to reach their target... meaning they should go around the wrong person)
- Heat vision CAN stop or redirect omega beams. (which may make sense, depending on just how powerful Superman’s heat vision is I guess)
- Even if hit by omega beams Superman can remain standing and fight back
- In some instances the omega beams will zig zag for no apparent reason

Here's the last pics of Darkseid and Supes fighting from Our Worlds At War

No, it doesn't. Let me explain:

In the begining (of the DCU, at least), there was creation. There was the source of all things. God, for all intents and purposes. But, as with everything, there must be an equal yet oposite force. And so, there is the Omega Effect. The oposite of creation itself. Whatever it touches is un-created.

The Omega Beam should be able to instantly cool off the heat vision if Darkseid chose to make it so. The Omega Beam should also be able to pass through the heat vision beams effortlessly, or swerve around the HV, again, if Darkseid chose to do so.

There's no logical reason why simple beams of heat (no matter how hot they are) could stop, or even give a moment's pause, the Omega Beams.

The Source >>> Heat.

/\ You'd think that that comparision would be simple enough to wrap one's head around, wouldn't ya?

Darksied's force beams overpowered HV after one panel in the second OWAW fight though. As for the OE, it would only do that to HV if DS programmed it so.

I may post the specific scans in a day or so, but I posted all the stuff where DS handles Superman here:

Just use your "Find" option with the word "Superman" and you should be able to locate all the scans of him vs. Superman I posted.
