I am. Everytime I read ANY Marvel comic nowadays, I see him leading the charge about this registration act and It just...I just don't like it. I know they want readers to take a side and I know many of us kind of have but what worries me is what happens AFTER Civil WAr.

When Civil War is over, will any of you who were against registration still respect Iron Man? I don't know if I can. To me, he's an extremist now and almost an villain.

For those who agree with Iron Man, how will you feel about Cap? Do you think his actions are now unredeemable in your eyes?

The worst part about it is when all is said and done, at some point, Cap and Iron Man will be Avengers again and Marvel will act like Civil War never happened but...can we really forget?

Yes. We forgot about the Crossing too after all. All it needs is a good writer.

Iron Man's been an incorrigible bastard for the majority of his existence. His characterization in Civil War isn't really anything new. He's basically Marvel's Lex Luthor, only instead of whining impotently about his resident superhero, he took matters into his own hands and became a superhero. He's still a grade-A jerk, though.

He was never the level of a jerk as to what he is now.

Read the arc where he faked his death and made even his best friend hate his guts. He's always been the jerk he is now.

I never had respect for him in the first place. Never been a big fan.

Civil War certainly won't change your mind.

I liked him back in the Romita Jr. days. I liked Rhodey a hell of a lot more by the time that arc where he faked his death rolled around, though. ;)

I still think the character is slightly though.

He's presented these days as have the principle of "The means justifies the ends". Which is odd to me as I can remember reading once that Tony fired a guy at Stark Industries who made illegal but profitable sales to Dr.Doom.

That's a little less of a gray area than what's currently happening, though. Doom is Doom; Tony knows that pretty much anything to do with him is going to be bad. Plus, Doom's known as an international terrorist who skates along the lines of legality with his diplomatic immunity. It'd just be bad press for Stark Industries to be doing business with Latveria.

With the SHRA, however, Iron Man is actually on the side of the American people. He could rightly view himself as a patriot, despite the fact that other heroes don't agree with the SHRA. The morality and ethics of this situation are a lot more complicated and ambiguous. I agree he's taken up the philosphy that the ends justify the means, though. He just believes that his ends are really noble, and when you consider the fact that he actually went through with killing the Supreme Intelligence to stop the Kree/Shi'ar War, hiring the Titanium Man at the risk of possible casualties and collateral damage doesn't seem too out of character.

Tony's been all about the shades of grey as of late.

I'm in the majority who think he's become more interesting. He's become more paranoid of the public's view of superheroes. If I were a human living in the 616,I would back his viewpoint all the way.

Then again, paranoia is a side effect of the Extremis.

Now he is addicted to techno organic plot devices

i just dont see how they can make this dude into a hero after CW

Wanda will walk out in the last panel of Civil War and go "No more ass-hat" and Stark's armor will produce a screen to show his heart growing 3 sizes.

Augmented paranoia. The paranoia was always there.

Iron Man kind of treats his teammates in a similar fashion to how Batman was treating his teammates.

Yeah, he's always been the fine line between hero and villan. He takes the liberties that heros do to an extreme of sorts. He's always been about the ends and means.

Do I still respect and agree with Iron Man? Of course.

But I can easily see and respect Captain America and what he's trying to do. Preserve a history and tradition that's been going on as long as America has been around.

As for if they'll still treat him like a hero when this is all said and done, probably they won't treat him the same way. And he'll probably lose his Avenger's status for a while, despite the fact he more often than not seems the literal leader of the Avengers, while Captain America seems to be the field commander. Or I hope at least Cap leaves.

Cap and Iron Man are kind of like the Superman and Batman of Marvel. And this is a deep betrayal, so I kind of hope this fragments things. I don't really see people treating Iron Man as a hero for a long time. More of someone they begrudingly have to ask help from.

I can't lose repect for a man doing what he thinks is right. Super-heros and their over the top fights with villians go to far sometimes [if not all the time]. Hulk smashing up streets, and causeing mayhem. Insanely powerful bafoons takeing on equally powerfull but less insane masked idiots. If they lived in the real world, New York city would be demolished along tme ago. These heroes need to understand, while what their doing is noble, it is also causeing the very same people their trying to protect their homes and lives. Iron Man is tired of it, and so are the citizens of New York. Atleast spider-man is being a man and doing whats right.

Spider Man actually just seems to be going along for the ride in some sort of loyalty kick to Tony. I don't know if he'd actually agree with this if he weren't working for Tony.

That, and Captain America is "being a man" by doing what he thinks is right.

Iron man has been in quite a few big battles that caused mayhem...or maybe hiring a supervillain to attack the senate while they are debating the matter of SHRA is an act of a guy who just is trying to do the right thing(not in my book)....and Spider-man being a man??????? He is Tony's *****

He made Spiderman become his ***** boy. Yeah i lost respect for ironman, more directly tony stark. We need to get someone who aint drunk. Captain america on the other hand hasnt been anyones ***** for the last 20 years.

yes Iron Man he has been in big coslty battles, and he is trying to make up for it. When people start die because of a bunch of washed up superheroes want to film a reality show, their is a problem in the hero community. No offense, but Captain America is cool, but you would think he would understand that enough is enough.

The New Warriors arent washed up....they just werent JQ's faves and got treated accordingly

Maybe we should just call Spider-man, Sider-toby instead for all the good he's doing. I'm not a big Iron Man fan to begin with and I see where he's coming from and if I was in the MU I would be behind him and his cause. But from my point of view as a fan, IM is a dick.

Basically, he's more interesting in this position, but this has always been Tony, it's just covered every now and again. Then an event comes along and pulls away the veil and it's like you're seeing it for the first time when in reality, this is Tony 101. They're making him more like his Earth X counterpart. Now if he can only build a suit the size of Manhattan like he did then and maybe a Brother Eye and we're all set to let the good times roll.

Shouldn't Iron Man be on the side of anti-registration considering that how far he has gone to protect his secret identity.
