Anyone remember the online reaction to X1 and X2?

I just wondered if anyone could recall the online reactions to the first two movies and even dig up some archive threads if any still exist.

I wasn't on this forum when the first two X-movies were released and am curious about the mood back then on the forums - before the movies and after they came out...?

Anyone?

back in 99 for X1 I was at Countingdown.com and AICN. I remember the overall reaction to the leather costumes were the most negative. But there was alot of positive feedback for Singer and some of the cast. However, I remember alot of fans were peeved about Hugh Jackman coming on board. (ah, memories) When the first teaser came out in Jan of 2000, I think thats when people really got excited for X1.

Then I came here and imdb for X2 and there was nothing but high anticipation. Although, the hype did ruin alot of things for me in terms of spoilers such as Jean dying and whatnot.

Don't remember much about x1's rwaction, but X2's was pretty positive before and after it came out.

I wasn't on these boards then, I was mostly on the Star Wars forums. I remember a lot of people on those forums were pleasantly surprised about how much they enjoyed X1, compared to how disappointed they had been Phantom Menace the summer before. X1 had definitely exceeded their expectations.
